Amós 8

1Voici ce que me montra le Seigneur Dieu dans une vision: II y avait là un panier de fruits mûrs.
2Il me dit: "Que vois-tu, Amos?" Je répondis: "Un panier de fruits mûrs. La moisson, me répliqua l'Eternel, est arrivée pour mon peuple Israël; je n'aurai plus d'indulgence pour lui.
3En ce jour, dit l'Eternel, les chants du palais seront des lamentations; nombreux seront les cadavres, on les jettera de toutes parts, sans souffler mot."
4Ecoutez ceci, ô vous qui grugez les nécessiteux et tendez à supprimer les pauvres du pays!
5Vous dites: "Quand la nouvelle lune sera-t-elle passée, pour que nous reprenions notre commerce, et le Sabbat, pour que nous ouvrions nos magasins de blé? Nous ferons l'êpha plus petite, le sicle plus grand, et frauderons avec des balances trompeuses.
6Nous achèterons les indigents pour de l'argent, les malheureux pour une paire de sandales; nous mettrons en vente jusqu'aux déchets du blé."
7L'Eternel a juré par la Gloire de Jacob : "Certes, jamais je n'oublierai aucun de leurs actes! "
8N'est-ce pas assez pour que la terre tremble, et que tous ses habitants soient en deuil? Pour qu'elle se soulève tout entière comme le Nil, qu'elle se gonfle puis s'affaisse comme le fleuve de l'Egypte?
9En ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur Dieu, je donnerai ordre au soleil de se coucher en plein midi, et je ferai la nuit sur la terre en plein jour.
10Je changerai vos fêtes en deuil et tous vos chants en complaintes, je mettrai le cilice sur tous les reins, la calvitie sur toutes les têtes. J'infligerai à ce pays comme un deuil pour un fils unique, l'avenir qui l'attend sera comme un jour d'amertume.
11Voici, des jours vont venir, dit le Seigneur Dieu, où j'enverrai de la famine dans le pays: ce ne sera ni la faim demandant du pain ni la soif de l'eau, mais le besoin d'entendre les paroles de l'Eternel.
12Alors on sera errant d'une mer à l'autre et du Nord au Levant, on se répandra partout pour chercher la parole de l'Eternel, et on ne la trouvera point.
13Ce jour-là, les belles vierges et les adolescents tomberont en défaillance par l'effet de la soif.
14Ceux qui jurent par le péché de Samarie et disent: "Vive ton Dieu, ô Dan! Vive le chemin qui conduit à Bersabée!" Ceux-là tomberont pour ne plus se relever.

1ASÍ me ha mostrado Jehová: y he aquí un canastillo de fruta de verano.
2Y dijo: ¿Qué ves, Amós? Y dije: Un canastillo de fruta de verano. Y díjome Jehová: Venido ha el fin sobre mi pueblo Israel; no le pasaré más.
3Y los cantores del templo aullarán en aquel día, dice el Señor Jehová; muchos serán los cuerpos muertos; en todo lugar echados serán en silencio.
4Oid esto, los que tragáis á los menesterosos, y arruináis los pobres de la tierra,
5Diciendo: ¿Cuándo pasará el mes, y venderemos el trigo; y la semana, y abriremos los alfolíes del pan, y achicaremos la medida, y engrandeceremos el precio, y falsearemos el peso engañoso;
6Para comprar los pobres por dinero, y los necesitados por un par de zapatos, y venderemos las aechaduras del trigo?
7Jehová juró por la gloria de Jacob: No me olvidaré para siempre de todas sus obras.
8¿No se ha de estremecer la tierra sobre esto? ¿y todo habitador de ella no llorará? y subirá toda como un río, y será arrojada, y hundiráse como el río de Egipto.
9Y acaecerá en aquel día, dice el Señor Jehová, que haré se ponga el sol al mediodía, y la tierra cubriré de tinieblas en el día claro.
10Y tornaré vuestras fiestas en lloro, y todos vuestros cantares en endechas; y haré poner saco sobre todos lomos, y peladura sobre toda cabeza; y tornaréla como en llanto de unigénito, y su postrimería como día amargo.
11He aquí vienen días, dice el Señor Jehová, en los cuales enviaré hambre á la tierra, no hambre de pan, ni sed de agua, sino de oir palabra de Jehová.
12E irán errantes de mar á mar: desde el norte hasta el oriente discurrirán buscando palabra de Jehová, y no la hallarán.
13En aquel tiempo las doncellas hermosas y los mancebos desmayarán de sed.
14Los que juran por el pecado de Samaria, y dicen, Vive tu Dios de Dan: y, Vive el camino de Beer-seba: caerán, y nunca más se levantarán.

1Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.
2And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
3And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.
4Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,
5Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
6That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
7The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
8Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
9And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:
10And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
11Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
12And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
13In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
14They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beer-sheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
World English Bible
1Thus the Lord GOD showed me: behold, a basket of summer fruit.
2He said, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then the LORD said to me, “The end has come on my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.
3The songs of the temple will be wailing in that day,” says the Lord GOD. “The dead bodies will be many. In every place they will throw them out with silence.
4Hear this, you who desire to swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,
5saying, ‘When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;
6that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals, and sell the sweepings with the wheat?’”
7The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob, “Surely I will never forget any of their works.
8Won’t the land tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, it will rise up wholly like the River; and it will be stirred up and sink again, like the River of Egypt.
9It will happen in that day,” says the Lord GOD, “that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.
10I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.
11Behold, the days come,” says the Lord GOD, “that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the LORD’s words.
12They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they will run back and forth to seek the LORD’s word, and will not find it.
13In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men will faint for thirst.
14Those who swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, ‘As your god, Dan, lives,’ and, ‘As the way of Beersheba lives,’ they will fall, and never rise up again.”
