Der Hohepriester aber fragte: "Verhält sich das so?"

EL príncipe de los sacerdotes dijo entonces: ¿Es esto así?

Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

The high priest said, “Are these things so?”

Stephanus antwortete: "Meine Brüder! Väter! Höret! Der hocherhabene Gott erschien einst unserem Vater Abraham, als er noch in Mesopotamien lebte, bevor er sich in Charran niederließ,

Y él dijo: Varones hermanos y padres, oid: El Dios de la gloria apareció á nuestro padre Abraham, estando en Mesopotamia, antes que morase en Chârán,

And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

He said, “Brothers and fathers, listen. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,

und sprach zu ihm: 'Zieh weg aus deinem Land und aus deiner Verwandtschaft und zieh in das Land, das ich dir zeigen werde.'

Y le dijo: Sal de tu tierra y de tu parentela, y ven á la tierra que te mostraré.

And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

and said to him, ‘Get out of your land and away from your relatives, and come into a land which I will show you.’

Da machte er sich aus dem Lande der Chaldäer auf und zog nach Charran. Nach dem Tode seines Vaters versetzte ihn Gott von dort in dieses Land, wo ihr jetzt wohnt.

Entonces salió de la tierra de los Caldeos, y habitó en Chârán: y de allí, muerto su padre, le traspasó á esta tierra, en la cual vosotros habitáis ahora;

Then came he out of the land of the Chaldæans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

Then he came out of the land of the Chaldaeans and lived in Haran. From there, when his father was dead, God moved him into this land where you are now living.

Doch gab er ihm darin kein Erbe, nicht eines Fußes Breite, sondern er versprach ihm nur, er werde später ihm und seinem Stamm es als Besitztum geben, obwohl er damals noch kein Kind besaß.

Y no le dió herencia en ella, ni aun para asentar un pie: mas le prometió que se la daría en posesión, y á su simiente después de él, no teniendo hijo.

And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

Also sprach nämlich Gott: 'Seine Nachkommen werden als Fremdlinge in fremdem Lande wohnen; man wird sie knechten und sie vierhundert Jahre lang hart bedrücken.

Y hablóle Dios así: Que su simiente sería extranjera en tierra ajena, y que los reducirían á servidumbre y maltratarían, por cuatrocientos años.

And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

God spoke in this way: that his offspring would live as aliens in a strange land, and that they would be enslaved and mistreated for four hundred years.

Das Volk jedoch, dem sie als Knechte dienen, werde ich richten', so sprach Gott. 'Doch später werden sie von dannen ziehen und mir an diesem Orte dienen.'

Mas yo juzgaré, dijo Dios, la nación á la cual serán siervos: y después de esto saldrán y me servirán en este lugar.

And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.

‘I will judge the nation to which they will be in bondage,’ said God, ‘and after that they will come out and serve me in this place.’

Dann gab er ihnen das Bundeszeichen der Beschneidung. Kraft desselben zeugte er den Isaak und beschnitt ihn am achten Tage. Isaak zeugte weiterhin den Jakob, und dieser die zwölf Patriarchen.

Y dióle el pacto de la circuncisión: y así Abraham engendró á Isaac, y le circuncidó al octavo día; é Isaac á Jacob, y Jacob á los doce patriarcas.

And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

Die Patriarchen waren eifersüchtig gegen Joseph und verkauften ihn nach Ägypten. Indes war Gott mit ihm.

Y los patriarcas, movidos de envidia, vendieron á José para Egipto; mas Dios era con él,

And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,

Er rettete ihn aus allen seinen Drangsalen, und er verlieh ihm Gunst und Weisheit vor Pharao, dem König von Ägypten. Dieser machte ihn zum Herrn Ägyptens und seines ganzen Hauses.

Y le libró de todas sus tribulaciones, y le dió gracia y sabiduría en la presencia de Faraón, rey de Egipto, el cual le puso por gobernador sobre Egipto, y sobre toda su casa.

And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

Doch eine Hungersnot kam über ganz Ägypten und Kanaan; groß war das Elend, und unsere Väter konnten keine Lebensmittel finden.

Vino entonces hambre en toda la tierra de Egipto y de Canaán, y grande tribulación; y nuestros padres no hallaban alimentos.

Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.

Da hörte Jakob, daß es in Ägypten noch Getreide gebe; er sandte unsere Väter ein erstesmal dorthin.

Y como oyese Jacob que había trigo en Egipto, envió á nuestros padres la primera vez.

Beim zweitenmal gab sich dann Joseph seinen Brüdern zu erkennen, und so ward dem Pharao die Abstammung des Joseph bekannt.

And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph’s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.

Hierauf ließ Joseph seinen Vater Jakob und alle Verwandten kommen; es waren fünfundsiebzig Seelen.

Y enviando José, hizo venir á su padre Jacob, y á toda su parentela, en número de setenta y cinco personas.

Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

So zog Jakob nach Ägypten, wo er starb, er und unsere Väter.

Man brachte sie nach Sichem; sie wurden in dem Grabe beigesetzt, das Abraham einst um eine Summe Geldes von den Söhnen Hemors in Sichem gekauft hatte.

Los cuales fueron trasladados á Sichêm, y puestos en el sepulcro que compró Abraham á precio de dinero de los hijos de Hemor de Sichêm.

And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.

and they were brought back to Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in silver from the children of Hamor of Shechem.

Wie nun die Zeit für die Verheißung nahte, die Gott dem Abraham zugesagt hatte, da mehrte sich das Volk in Ägypten und wurde zahlreich,

But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

bis in Ägypten ein anderer König zur Herrschaft kam, der nichts von Joseph wußte.

Hasta que se levantó otro rey en Egipto que no conocía á José.

Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.

until there arose a different king who didn’t know Joseph.

Und er verfuhr mit unserem Geschlechte hinterlistig: er bedrückte unsere Väter, die ihre Kinder aussetzen mußten, damit sie nicht am Leben blieben.

Este, usando de astucia con nuestro linaje, maltrató á nuestros padres, á fin de que pusiesen á peligro de muerte sus niños, para que cesase la generación.

The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.

The same took advantage of our race and mistreated our fathers, and forced them to abandon their babies, so that they wouldn’t stay alive.

In dieser Zeit kam Moses auf die Weit: er war Gott wohlgefällig. Drei Monate hindurch ward er im Vaterhause auferzogen;

En aquel mismo tiempo nació Moisés, y fué agradable á Dios: y fué criado tres meses en casa de su padre.

In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father’s house three months:

dann setzte man ihn aus. Die Tochter Pharaos nahm ihn indessen an sich und zog ihn für sich auf als den eigenen Sohn.

Mas siendo puesto al peligro, la hija de Faraón le tomó, y le crió como á hijo suyo.

And when he was cast out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.

When he was abandoned, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up and reared him as her own son.

Und Moses ward in aller Weisheit der Ägypter unterrichtet; mächtig in Wort und Tat.

Y fué enseñado Moisés en toda la sabiduría de los egipcios; y era poderoso en sus dichos y hechos.

And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. He was mighty in his words and works.

Als er vierzig Jahre alt war, kam ihm das Verlangen, sich nach den Israeliten, seinen Brüdern, umzusehen.

Y cuando hubo cumplido la edad de cuarenta años, le vino voluntad de visitar á sus hermanos los hijos de Israel.

And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.

Da sah er, wie irgendeinem Unrecht getan ward. Er setzte sich zur Wehr und schaffte dem Mißhandelten sein Recht und schlug den Ägypter tot.

Y como vió á uno que era injuriado, defendióle, é hiriendo al Egipcio, vengó al injuriado.

And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:

Er meinte, seine Brüder würden wohl verstehen, daß Gott ihnen Rettung durch seine Hand verschaffen wolle; doch sie verstanden es nicht.

Pero él pensaba que sus hermanos entendían que Dios les había de dar salud por su mano; mas ellos no lo habían entendido.

For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

He supposed that his brothers understood that God, by his hand, was giving them deliverance; but they didn’t understand.

Des anderen Tags kam er zu ihnen, als sie gerade miteinander stritten. Er wollte zwischen ihnen Frieden stiften mit den Worten: 'Ihr seid doch Brüder, Männer! Warum tut ihr einander Unrecht an?'

Y al día siguiente, riñendo ellos, se les mostró, y los ponía en paz, diciendo: Varones, hermanos sois, ¿por qué os injuriáis los unos á los otros?

And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?

“The day following, he appeared to them as they fought, and urged them to be at peace again, saying, ‘Sirs, you are brothers. Why do you wrong one another?’

Doch der, der seinem Nächsten unrecht tat, stieß ihn zurück und sagte: 'Wer hat denn dich zum Herrn und Richter über uns gemacht?

Entonces el que injuriaba á su prójimo, le rempujó, diciendo: ¿Quién te ha puesto por príncipe y juez sobre nosotros?

But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?

But he who did his neighbor wrong pushed him away, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?

Willst du etwa mich töten, so wie du gestern den Ägypter totgeschlagen hast?'

¿Quieres tú matarme, como mataste ayer al Egipcio?

Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?

Do you want to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’

Auf diese Worte hin brachte Moses sich in Sicherheit und lebte im Lande Madian als Fremdling, wo er Vater von zwei Söhnen wurde.

A esta palabra Moisés huyó, y se hizo extranjero en tierra de Madián, donde engendró dos hijos.

Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.

Vierzig Jahre waren schon vorüber, da erschien ihm in der Wüste bei dem Berge Sinai ein Engel in der Flamme eines brennenden Dornbusches.

Y cumplidos cuarenta años, un ángel le apareció en el desierto del monte Sina, en fuego de llama de una zarza.

And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

“When forty years were fulfilled, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.

Voll Verwunderung sah Moses die Erscheinung. Als er hinzutrat, um sie zu betrachten, erging die Stimme des Herrn:

Entonces Moisés mirando, se maravilló de la visión: y llegándose para considerar, fué hecha á él voz del Señor:

When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

'Ich bin der Gott deiner Väter, der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs.' Moses zitterte und wagte nicht, dorthin zu schauen.

Yo soy el Dios de tus padres, el Dios de Abraham, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob. Mas Moisés, temeroso, no osaba mirar.

Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

‘I am the God of your fathers: the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Moses trembled and dared not look.

Und also sprach der Herr zu ihm: 'Ziehe deine Schuhe aus! Der Ort, auf dem du stehst, ist heiliges Land.

Y le dijo el Señor: Quita los zapatos de tus pies, porque el lugar en que estás es tierra santa.

Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

The Lord said to him, ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you stand is holy ground.

Ich habe die Bedrückung meines Volkes in Ägypten gesehen und ihr Seufzen gehört; ich bin herabgekommen, damit ich es befreie. So komm denn, ich will dich nach Ägypten senden.'

He visto, he visto la aflicción de mi pueblo que está en Egipto, y he oído el gemido de ellos, y he descendido para librarlos. Ahora pues, ven, te enviaré á Egipto.

I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their groaning. I have come down to deliver them. Now come, I will send you into Egypt.’

Denselben Moses, den sie verworfen hatten, indem sie sprachen: 'Wer hat denn dich zum Herrn und Richter eingesetzt?', den hat Gott als Herrn und Befreier gesandt unter dem Schutz eines Engels, der ihm im Dornbusch erschienen war.

A este Moisés, al cual habían rehusado, diciendo: ¿Quién te ha puesto por príncipe y juez? á éste envió Dios por príncipe y redentor con la mano del ángel que le apareció en la zarza.

This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

“This Moses whom they refused, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’—God has sent him as both a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

Und dieser führte sie heraus, vollbrachte Wunder und Zeichen im Lande Ägypten, im Roten Meer und in der Wüste, vierzig Jahre lang.

Este los sacó, habiendo hecho prodigios y milagros en la tierra de Egipto, y en el mar Bermejo, y en el desierto por cuarenta años.

He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

This man led them out, having worked wonders and signs in Egypt, in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness for forty years.

Es ist derselbe Moses, der den Söhnen Israels gesagt hatte: 'Einen Propheten wie mich wird Gott euch erwecken aus der Mitte eurer Brüder.'

Este es el Moisés, el cual dijo á los hijos de Israel: Profeta os levantará el Señor Dios vuestro de vuestros hermanos, como yo; á él oiréis.

This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The Lord our God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me.’

Er ist es auch, der bei der Gemeinde in der Wüste mit dem Engel verkehrte, der auf dem Berge Sinai mit ihm und mit unseren Vätern redete, und er empfing die Worte des Lebens, um sie euch mitzuteilen.

Este es aquél que estuvo en la congregación en el desierto con el ángel que le hablaba en el monte Sina, y con nuestros padres; y recibió las palabras de vida para darnos:

This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness with the angel that spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who received living revelations to give to us,

Doch unsere Väter wollten ihm nicht gehorsam sein; sie lehnten ihn vielmehr ab und wandten sich in ihren Herzen wieder Ägypten zu.

Al cual nuestros padres no quisieron obedecer; antes le desecharon, y se apartaron de corazón á Egipto,

To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

to whom our fathers wouldn’t be obedient, but rejected him and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,

So sprachen sie zu Aaron: 'Verschaffe uns Götter, die vor uns herziehen; wir wissen nicht, was aus dem Moses da geworden ist, der uns aus Ägypten herausgeführt hat.'

Diciendo á Aarón: Haznos dioses que vayan delante de nosotros; porque á este Moisés, que nos sacó de tierra de Egipto, no sabemos qué le ha acontecido.

Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods that will go before us, for as for this Moses who led us out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.’

Sie machten sich in jenen Tagen ein Kalb, brachten diesem Götzenbild Opfer dar und ergötzten sich an dem Gebilde ihrer Hände.

Y entonces hicieron un becerro, y ofrecieron sacrificio al ídolo, y en las obras de sus manos se holgaron.

And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

Da wandte Gott sich von ihnen ab und ließ sie dem Himmelsheer dienen, wie es geschrieben steht im Buche der Propheten. 'Habt ihr mir etwa Schlachttiere und Opfer dargebracht die vierzig Jahre in der Wüste, Haus Israel?

Y Dios se apartó, y los entregó que sirviesen al ejército del cielo; como está escrito en el libro de los profetas: ¿Me ofrecisteis víctimas y sacrificios en el desierto por cuarenta años, casa de Israel?

Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

But God turned away and gave them up to serve the army of the sky, as it is written in the book of the prophets, ‘Did you offer to me slain animals and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

O nein, das Zelt des Moloch und das Sternbild eures Gottes Rempham habt ihr herumgeführt, die Bilder, die ihr selbst verfertigt habt, um sie anzubeten. Ich werde euch noch über Babylon hinaus verbannen.'

Antes, trajisteis el tabernáculo de Moloch, y la estrella de vuestro dios Remphan: figuras que os hicisteis para adorarlas: os transportaré pues, más allá de Babilonia.

Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

Unsere Väter hatten in der Wüste das Bundeszelt, wie der es angeordnet hatte, der zu Moses sprach: 'Er soll es machen nach dem Vorbilde, das er gesehen hat.'

Tuvieron nuestros padres el tabernáculo del testimonio en el desierto, como había ordenado Dios, hablando á Moisés que lo hiciese según la forma que había visto.

Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.

“Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, even as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to make it according to the pattern that he had seen;

Und dieses übernahmen unsere Väter und brachten es mit sich, als sie dann unter Josue das Land der Heiden zum Besitz erhielten, die Gott vor unseren Vätern hernach vertrieb. So blieb es bis auf Davids Zeit.

El cual recibido, metieron también nuestros padres con Josué en la posesión de los Gentiles, que Dios echó de la presencia de nuestros padres, hasta los días de David;

Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;

which also our fathers, in their turn, brought in with Joshua when they entered into the possession of the nations whom God drove out before the face of our fathers to the days of David,

Dieser war Gott wohlgefällig und bat, ob er für den Gott Jakobs nicht eine Wohnung machen dürfe.

El cual halló gracia delante de Dios, y pidió hallar tabernáculo para el Dios de Jacob.

Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

who found favor in the sight of God, and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob.

Jedoch erst Salomo erbaute ihm ein Haus.

Allein der Allerhöchste wohnt nicht in Stätten, die von Menschenhand gemacht sind. Sagt doch schon der Prophet:

Si bien el Altísimo no habita en templos hechos de mano; como el profeta dice:

Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

However, the Most High doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says,

'Der Himmel ist mein Thron, die Erde der Schemel meiner Füße. Was für ein Haus wollt ihr mir bauen', spricht der Herr, 'oder wo ist der Ort, an dem ich ständig wohnen kann?

El cielo es mi trono, y la tierra es el estrado de mis pies. ¿Qué casa me edificaréis? dice el Señor; ¿ó cuál es el lugar de mi reposo?

Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

‘heaven is my throne, and the earth a footstool for my feet. What kind of house will you build me?’ says the Lord. ‘Or what is the place of my rest?

Hat denn nicht meine Hand all dies geschaffen?'
