Als wir gerettet waren, erfuhren wir, daß die Insel Malta hieß..

Y CUANDO escapamos, entonces supimos que la isla se llamaba Melita.

And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.

When we had escaped, then they learned that the island was called Malta.

Die Eingeborenen erwiesen uns eine ungewöhnliche Menschenfreundlichkeit. Sie zündeten ein Feuer an und holten uns alle heran, denn Regen setzte ein, und es war kalt.

Y los bárbaros nos mostraron no poca humanidad; porque, encendido un fuego, nos recibieron á todos, á causa de la lluvia que venía, y del frío.

And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

The natives showed us uncommon kindness; for they kindled a fire and received us all, because of the present rain and because of the cold.

Paulus raufte einen Haufen Reisig zusammen und warf ihn ins Feuer. Da schnellte infolge der Hitze eine Natter heraus und heftete sich an seine Hand.

Entonces habiendo Pablo recogido algunos sarmientos, y puéstolos en el fuego, una víbora, huyendo del calor, le acometió á la mano.

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

Als die Eingeborenen das Tier an seiner Hand hängen sahen, sprachen sie zueinander: "Gewiß ist dieser Mensch ein Mörder. Wenn er auch dem Meer entronnen ist, die Rache läßt ihn dennoch nicht am Leben."

Y como los bárbaros vieron la víbora colgando de su mano, decían los unos á los otros: Ciertamente este hombre es homicida, á quien, escapado de la mar, la justicia no deja vivir.

And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live.”

Er aber schüttelte das Tier ins Feuer, ohne daß er Schaden erlitten hatte.

Mas él, sacudiendo la víbora en el fuego, ningún mal padeció.

And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Die Leute warteten nun darauf, daß er anschwellen oder plötzlich tot zusammensinken werde. Lange warteten sie. Als sie sahen, daß ihm nichts Schlimmes widerfuhr, änderten sie ihre Ansicht und sagten, er sei ein Gott.

Empero ellos estaban esperando cuándo se había de hinchar, ó caer muerto de repente; mas habiendo esperado mucho, y viendo que ningún mal le venía, mudados, decían que era un dios.

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

In jener Gegend besaß der oberste Beamte der Insel, namens Publius, ein Landgut. Dieser nahm uns auf und gewährte uns drei Tage lang liebevolle Gastfreundschaft.

En aquellos lugares había heredades del principal de la isla, llamado Publio, el cual nos recibió y hospedó tres días humanamente.

In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us and courteously entertained us for three days.

Der Vater des Publius lag gerade an fiebriger Ruhr krank danieder. Paulus ging zu ihm hin, betete, legte ihm die Hand auf und machte ihn gesund.

Y aconteció que el padre de Publio estaba en cama, enfermo de fiebres y de disentería: al cual Pablo entró, y después de haber orado, le puso las manos encima, y le sanó:

And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

The father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery. Paul entered in to him, prayed, and laying his hands on him, healed him.

Daraufhin kamen auch die anderen Kranken der Insel herbei und wurden geheilt.

Y esto hecho, también los otros que en la isla tenían enfermedades, llegaban, y eran sanados:

So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

Then when this was done, the rest also who had diseases in the island came and were cured.

Dafür überhäufte man uns mit Ehrenbezeigungen und versah uns bei unserer Abfahrt mit allem, was wir nötig hatten.

Los cuales también nos honraron con muchos obsequios; y cuando partimos, nos cargaron de las cosas necesarias.

Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

They also honored us with many honors; and when we sailed, they put on board the things that we needed.

Nach drei Monaten fuhren wir auf einem alexandrinischen Schiff ab. Dieses hatte auf der Insel überwintert und führte das Zeichen der Dioskuren.

Así que, pasados tres meses, navegamos en una nave Alejandrina que había invernado en la isla, la cual tenía por enseña á Cástor y Pólux.

And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

Wir liefen Syrakus an, wo wir drei Tage blieben.

Y llegados á Siracusa, estuvimos allí tres días.

And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.

Von dort fuhren wir der Küste entlang und kamen nach Rhegium. Da tags darauf ein Südwind einsetzte, kamen wir in zwei Tagen nach Puteoli.

De allí, costeando alrededor, vinimos á Regio; y otro día después, soplando el austro, vinimos al segundo día á Puteolos:

And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

From there we circled around and arrived at Rhegium. After one day, a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli,

Dort trafen wir Brüder, die uns baten, sieben Tage bei ihnen zu bleiben. Und dann kamen wir nach Rom.

Donde habiendo hallado hermanos, nos rogaron que quedásemos con ellos siete días; y luego vinimos á Roma;

Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

where we found brothers, and were entreated to stay with them for seven days. So we came to Rome.

Die Brüder hatten von uns gehört und kamen uns von dort entgegen bis Forum Appii und Tres Tabernae. Bei ihrem Anblick dankte Paulus Gott und schöpfte neuen Mut.

De donde, oyendo de nosotros los hermanos, nos salieron á recibir hasta la plaza de Appio, y Las Tres Tabernas: á los cuales como Pablo vió, dió gracias á Dios, y tomó aliento.

And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

From there the brothers, when they heard of us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius and The Three Taverns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.

Nachdem wir in Rom angekommen waren übergab der Hauptmann die Gefangenen dem Befehlshaber des Lagers, wurde es dem Paulus gestattet, unter Aufsicht eines Soldaten eine eigene Wohnung zu beziehen.

Y como llegamos á Roma, el centurión entregó los presos al prefecto de los ejércitos, mas á Pablo fué permitido estar por sí, con un soldado que le guardase.

And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

When we entered into Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard, but Paul was allowed to stay by himself with the soldier who guarded him.

Nach drei Tagen rief er die Angesehensten der Juden zu sich. Als sie versammelt waren, sprach er zu ihnen: "Brüder, ohne mich gegen das Volk oder die Vätersitte je verfehlt zu haben, bin ich von Jerusalem aus als Gefangener den Römern überliefert worden.

Y aconteció que tres días después, Pablo convocó á los principales de los Judíos; á los cuales, luego que estuvieron juntos, les dijo: Yo, varones hermanos, no habiendo hecho nada contra el pueblo, ni contra los ritos de la patria, he sido entregado preso desde Jerusalem en manos de los Romanos;

And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

After three days Paul called together those who were the leaders of the Jews. When they had come together, he said to them, “I, brothers, though I had done nothing against the people or the customs of our fathers, still was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans,

Sie wollten mich nach einer Untersuchung in Freiheit setzen, weil kein todeswürdiges Verbrechen bei mir vorlag.

Los cuales, habiéndome examinado, me querían soltar, por no haber en mí ninguna causa de muerte.

Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.

Jedoch die Juden legten Einspruch ein, und so war ich genötigt, Berufung an den Kaiser einzulegen, jedoch nicht, als wollte ich mein Volk selbst verklagen.

But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Cæsar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.

Aus diesem Grunde also habe ich euch zu mir gebeten, um euch zu sehen und zu sprechen; denn um der Hoffnung Israels willen bin ich mit dieser Kette umschlossen."

Así que, por esta causa, os he llamado para veros y hablaros; porque por la esperanza de Israel estoy rodeado de esta cadena.

For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

Sie erwiderten ihm-. "Wir haben weder schriftliche Nachricht aus Judäa über dich erhalten, noch kam einer von den Brüdern und berichtete oder erzählte uns etwas Nachteiliges über dich.

Entonces ellos le dijeron: Nosotros ni hemos recibido cartas tocante á ti de Judea, ni ha venido alguno de los hermanos que haya denunciado ó hablado algún mal de ti.

And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judæa concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.

They said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor did any of the brothers come here and report or speak any evil of you.

Doch möchten wir deine Ansicht näher kennenlernen. Denn von dieser Sekte ist uns nur bekannt, daß sie überall Widerspruch findet."

Mas querríamos oir de ti lo que sientes; porque de esta secta notorio nos es que en todos lugares es contradicha.

But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

But we desire to hear from you what you think. For, as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.”

Sie bestimmten ihm einen Tag und fanden sich an ihm in größerer Anzahl in seiner Wohnung ein. Er erklärte und bezeugte ihnen das Reich Gottes und suchte sie im Anschluß an das Gesetz des Moses und an die Propheten vom frühen Morgen bis zum Abend für die Sache Jesu zu gewinnen.

Y habiéndole señalado un día, vinieron á él muchos á la posada, á los cuales declaraba y testificaba el reino de Dios, persuadiéndoles lo concerniente á Jesús, por la ley de Moisés y por los profetas, desde la mañana hasta la tarde.

And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Ein Teil glaubte seinen Worten, der andere blieb ungläubig.

Y algunos asentían á lo que se decía, mas algunos no creían.

And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

In Uneinigkeit miteinander gingen sie weg. Paulus sagte nur noch das eine Wort: "Treffend hat der Heilige Geist zu euren Vätern durch Isaias, den Propheten, gesagt:

Y como fueron entre sí discordes, se fueron, diciendo Pablo esta palabra: Bien ha hablado el Espíritu Santo por el profeta Isaías á nuestros padres,

And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

When they didn’t agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one message: “The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers,

'Tritt hin vor dieses Volk und sprich "Ihr werdet hören und nicht verstehen, ihr werdet sehen und nicht einsehen;

Diciendo: Ve á este pueblo, y diles: De oído oiréis, y no entenderéis; y viendo veréis, y no percibiréis:

Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

saying, ‘Go to this people and say, in hearing, you will hear, but will in no way understand. In seeing, you will see, but will in no way perceive.

verstockt ist das Herz dieses Volkes; seine Ohren sind schwerhörig, und seine Augen sind verschlossen, damit es mit den Augen ja nicht sehe und mit den Ohren nicht höre, in seinem Herzen nicht verständig werde und sich bekehre und Heilung bei mir finde."'

Porque el corazón de este pueblo se ha engrosado, y de los oídos oyeron pesadamente, y sus ojos taparon; porque no vean con los ojos, y oigan con los oídos, y entiendan de corazón, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.

For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

For this people’s heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. Lest they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn again, then I would heal them.’

So sei es denn euch kund, daß das Heil Gottes den Heiden gebracht wird, und diese werden darauf hören."

Séaos pues notorio que á los Gentiles es enviada esta salud de Dios: y ellos oirán.

Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

“Be it known therefore to you that the salvation of God is sent to the nations, and they will listen.”

Nachdem er dies gesagt hatte, verließen ihn die Juden, wobei sie viele Streitfragen unter sich hatten.

Y habiendo dicho esto, los Judíos salieron, teniendo entre sí gran contienda.

And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

When he had said these words, the Jews departed, having a great dispute among themselves.

Er blieb zwei volle Jahre in seiner Mietwohnung und nahm alle auf, die zu ihm kamen.

Pablo empero, quedó dos años enteros en su casa de alquiler, y recibía á todos los que á él venían,

And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

Paul stayed two whole years in his own rented house and received all who were coming to him,

Er verkündete das Reich Gottes und lehrte vom Herrn Jesus Christus ganz offen und ungehindert.

Predicando el reino de Dios y enseñando lo que es del Señor Jesucristo con toda libertad, sin impedimento.

Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

preaching God’s Kingdom and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, without hindrance.
