E di li a cinque giorni arrivò il principe de' sacerdoti Anania con i seniori, e con un certo Tertullo oratore, i quali dieder comparsa al preside contro Paolo.

Y CINCO días después descendió el sumo sacerdote Ananías, con algunos de los ancianos, y un cierto Tértulo, orador; y parecieron delante del gobernador contra Pablo.

And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.

After five days, the high priest, Ananias, came down with certain elders and an orator, one Tertullus. They informed the governor against Paul.

E citato Paolo, cominciò Tertullo l'accusazione, dicendo: Che molta pace noi per te godiamo, e molte cose siano ammendate dalla tua previdenza:

Y citado que fué, Tértulo comenzó á acusar, diciendo: Como por causa tuya vivamos en grande paz, y muchas cosas sean bien gobernadas en el pueblo por tu prudencia,

And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence,

When he was called, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, “Seeing that by you we enjoy much peace, and that prosperity is coming to this nation by your foresight,

Lo riconosciamo sempre, e in ogni luogo con tutta la gratitudine, o ottimo Felice.

Siempre y en todo lugar lo recibimos con todo hacimiento de gracias, oh excelentísimo Félix.

We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.

we accept it in all ways and in all places, most excellent Felix, with all thankfulness.

Ma per non disturbarti più lungamente, pregoti, che per brev'ora ci ascolti con la tua umanità.

Empero por no molestarte más largamente, ruégote que nos oigas brevemente conforme á tu equidad.

Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words.

But that I don’t delay you, I entreat you to bear with us and hear a few words.

Abbiam trovato quest'uomo pestilenziale, che istiga a sedizione tutti i Giudei per tutto il mondo, e capo della ribellione della setta de' Nazarei.

Porque hemos hallado que este hombre es pestilencial, y levantador de sediciones entre todos los Judíos por todo el mundo, y príncipe de la secta de los Nazarenos:

For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

For we have found this man to be a plague, an instigator of insurrections among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.

Il quale ha tentato eziandio di profanare il tempio, e avendolo noi preso, volemmo secondo la nostra legge giudicarlo.

El cual también tentó á violar el templo; y prendiéndole, le quisimos juzgar conforme á nuestra ley:

Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.

He even tried to profane the temple, and we arrested him.

Ma sopraggiunto il tribuno Lisia, lo tolse con molta violenza dalle nostre mani,

Mas interviniendo el tribuno Lisias, con grande violencia le quitó de nuestras manos,

But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,

—

Avendo ordinato, che venisser da te i suoi accusatori: e da lui potrai tu, disaminandolo, esser informato di tutte queste cose, delle quali noi lo accusiamo.

Mandando á sus acusadores que viniesen á ti; del cual tú mismo juzgando, podrás entender todas estas cosas de que le acusamos.

Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.

By examining him yourself you may ascertain all these things of which we accuse him.”

E i Giudei soggiunsero, che le cose stavan così.

Y contendían también los Judíos, diciendo ser así estas cosas.

And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.

The Jews also joined in the attack, affirming that these things were so.

E Paolo (avendogli il preside fatto segno, che parlasse) rispose: Sapendo, che da molti anni tu governi questa nazione di buon animo darò conto di me.

Entonces Pablo, haciéndole el gobernador señal que hablase, respondió: Porque sé que muchos años ha eres gobernador de esta nación, con buen ánimo satisfaré por mí.

Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:

When the governor had beckoned to him to speak, Paul answered, “Because I know that you have been a judge of this nation for many years, I cheerfully make my defense,

Imperocché tu puoi venire in chiaro, come non sono più di dodici giorni, che io arrivai a Gerusalemme per far la mia adorazione:

Porque tú puedes entender que no hace más de doce días que subí á adorar á Jerusalem;

Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.

seeing that you can verify that it is not more than twelve days since I went up to worship at Jerusalem.

E non mi hanno trovato a disputar con alcuno nel tempio, né a far sollevamento di popolo nelle sinagoghe.

Y ni me hallaron en el templo disputando con ninguno, ni haciendo concurso de multitud, ni en sinagogas, ni en la ciudad;

And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:

In the temple they didn’t find me disputing with anyone or stirring up a crowd, either in the synagogues or in the city.

O per la città: né possono addurre dinanzi a te prova delle cose, onde ora mi accusano.

Ni te pueden probar las cosas de que ahora me acusan.

Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.

Nor can they prove to you the things of which they now accuse me.

Io però ti confesso, che secondo quella scuola, che essi chiamano eresia, così servo al Padre, e Dio mio, credendo tutte quelle cose, le quali nella legge, e ne' profeti sono scritte:

Esto empero te confieso, que conforme á aquel Camino que llaman herejía, así sirvo al Dios de mis padres, creyendo todas las cosas que en la ley y en los profetas están escritas;

But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

But this I confess to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, so I serve the God of our fathers, believing all things which are according to the law, and which are written in the prophets;

Avendo speranza in Dio, che verrà quella, che essi medesimi aspettano, risurrezione dei giusti, e degl'iniqui.

Teniendo esperanza en Dios que ha de haber resurrección de los muertos, así de justos como de injustos, la cual también ellos esperan.

And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

having hope toward God, which these also themselves look for, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

Per le quali cose io mi studio di conservar sempre incontaminata la coscienza dinanzi a Dio, e agli uomini.

Y por esto, procuro yo tener siempre conciencia sin remordimiento acerca de Dios y acerca de los hombres.

And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

In this I also practice always having a conscience void of offense toward God and men.

E dopo vari anni sono venuto a portare delle limosine alla mia nazione, e (presentare) obblazioni, e voti.

Mas pasados muchos años, vine á hacer limosnas á mi nación, y ofrendas,

Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.

Now after some years, I came to bring gifts for the needy to my nation, and offerings;

E tra queste cose mi hanno trovato purificato nel tempio: senza raunata di gente, e senza tumulto.

Cuando me hallaron purificado en el templo (no con multitud ni con alboroto) unos Judíos de Asia;

Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.

amid which certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, not with a mob, nor with turmoil.

E que' certi Giudei dell'Asia, i quali dovean pur comparire davanti a te, e accusarmi, se alcuna cosa avessero contro di me:

Los cuales debieron comparecer delante de ti, y acusarme, si contra mí tenían algo.

Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had ought against me.

They ought to have been here before you and to make accusation if they had anything against me.

Ovvero questi stessi dicano, se hanno trovato in me colpa quando son io stato nel sinedrio,

O digan estos mismos si hallaron en mí alguna cosa mal hecha, cuando yo estuve en el concilio,

Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,

Or else let these men themselves say what injustice they found in me when I stood before the council,

Eccettuata quella sola voce, onde gridai stando in mezzo di essi: Io sono oggi giudicato da voi sopra la risurrezione de' morti.

Si no sea que, estando entre ellos prorrumpí en alta voz: Acerca de la resurrección de los muertos soy hoy juzgado de vosotros.

Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.

unless it is for this one thing that I cried standing among them, ‘Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am being judged before you today!’”

Ma Felice informato appieno di quella dottrina, diede loro una proroga dicendo: Venuto, che sia il tribuno Lisia, vi ascolterò.

Entonces Félix, oídas estas cosas, estando bien informado de esta secta, les puso dilación, diciendo: Cuando descendiere el tribuno Lisias acabaré de conocer de vuestro negocio.

And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.

But Felix, having more exact knowledge concerning the Way, deferred them, saying, “When Lysias, the commanding officer, comes down, I will decide your case.”

E diede ordine al centurione, che custodisse Paolo, ma che fosse meglio trattato, né si vietasse ad alcuno de' suoi di prestargli assistenza.

Y mandó al centurión que Pablo fuese guardado, y aliviado de las prisiones; y que no vedase á ninguno de sus familiares servirle, ó venir á él.

And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.

He ordered the centurion that Paul should be kept in custody and should have some privileges, and not to forbid any of his friends to serve him or to visit him.

E passati alcuni giorni tornato Felice con Drusilla sua moglie, la quale era Giudea, chiamò Paolo, e lo udì parlare della fede in Gesù Cristo.

Y algunos días después, viniendo Félix con Drusila, su mujer, la cual era Judía, llamó á Pablo, y oyó de él la fe que es en Jesucristo.

And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.

After some days, Felix came with Drusilla his wife, who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ Jesus.

E disputando egli della giustizia, della castità, e del giudizio futuro, atterrito Felice disse: Per adesso vattene: e a suo tempo ti chiamerò:

Y disertando él de la justicia, y de la continencia, y del juicio venidero, espantado Félix, respondió: Ahora vete; mas en teniendo oportunidad te llamaré:

And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

As he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was terrified, and answered, “Go your way for this time, and when it is convenient for me, I will summon you.”

E insieme stava in isperanza, che Paolo gli avrebbe dato del denaro: per la qual cosa frequentemente facendolo a se venire, discorreva con lui.

Esperando también con esto, que de parte de Pablo le serían dados dineros, porque le soltase; por lo cual, haciéndole venir muchas veces, hablaba con él.

He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.

Meanwhile, he also hoped that money would be given to him by Paul, that he might release him. Therefore also he sent for him more often and talked with him.

E uniti i due anni. Felice ebbe per successore Porcio, Pesto. E Felice volendo ingrazianti co' Giudei, lasciò Paolo in catene. Pesto non condiscende a' Giudei, i quali con frode chiedevano, che Paolo fosse condotto a Gerusalemme; ma ascolta in Cesarea gli accusatori, e la risposta di Paolo, il quale interrogato, se volesse essere giudicato in Gerusalemme, appella a Cesare. Festo dà notizia della causa di Paolo ad Agrippa, il quale brama di udirlo, e il dì seguente per ordine di Festo egli e condotto dinanzi ad Agrippa, e a Berenice.

Mas al cabo de dos años recibió Félix por sucesor á Porcio Festo: y queriendo Félix ganar la gracia de los Judíos, dejó preso á Pablo.

But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix’ room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.

But when two years were fulfilled, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, and desiring to gain favor with the Jews, Felix left Paul in bonds.
