1After these thinges, Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinthus,
2And found a certaine Iewe named Aquila, borne in Pontus, lately come from Italie, and his wife Priscilla (because that Claudius had commanded all Iewes to depart from Rome) and he came vnto them.
3And because hee was of the same crafte, he abode with them and wrought (for their crafte was to make tentes.)
4And he disputed in the Synagogue euery Sabbath day, and exhorted the Iewes, and the Grecians.
5Now when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul, forced in spirit, testified to the Iewes that Iesus was the Christ.
6And when they resisted and blasphemed, he shooke his raiment, and saide vnto them, Your blood be vpon your owne head: I am cleane: from henceforth will I goe vnto the Gentiles.
7So he departed thence, and entred into a certaine mans house, named Iustus, a worshipper of God, whose house ioyned hard to the Synagogue.
8And Crispus the chiefe ruler of the Synagogue, beleeued in the Lord with all his housholde: and many of the Corinthians hearing it, beleeued and were baptized.
9Then saide the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Feare not, but speake, and holde not thy peace.
10For I am with thee, and no man shall lay handes on thee to hurt thee: for I haue much people in this citie.
11So he continued there a yeere and six moneths, and taught ye worde of God among them.
12Now when Gallio was Deputie of Achaia, the Iewes arose with one accorde against Paul, and brought him to the iudgement seate,
13Saying, This fellow persuadeth me to worship God otherwise then the Lawe appointeth.
14And as Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio saide vnto the Iewes, If it were a matter of wrong, or an euill deede, O ye Iewes, I would according to reason maintaine you.
15But if it bee a question of woordes, and names, and of your Lawe, looke yee to it your selues: for I will be no iudge of those things.
16And hee draue them from the iudgement seate.
17Then tooke al the Grecians Sosthenes the chiefe ruler of the Synagogue, and beat him before the iudgement seat: but Gallio cared nothing for those things.
18But when Paul had taried there yet a good while, hee tooke leaue of the brethren, and sailed into Syria (and with him Priscilla and Aquila) after that he had shorne his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vowe.
19Then hee came to Ephesus, and left them there: but hee entred into the Synagogue and disputed with the Iewes.
20Who desired him to tarie a longer time with them: but he would not consent,
21But bade the farewel, saying, I must needes keepe this feast that commeth, in Hierusalem: but I will returne againe vnto you, if God will. So he sailed from Ephesus.
22And when hee came downe to Cesarea, he went vp to Hierusalem: and when he had saluted the Church, he went downe vnto Antiochia.
23Nowe when he had taried there a while, he departed, and went thorowe the countrey of Galatia and Phrygia by order, strengthening all the disciples.
24And a certaine Iewe named Apollos, borne at Alexandria, came to Ephesus, an eloquent man, and mightie in the Scriptures.
25The same was instructed in the way of the Lord, and hee spake feruently in the Spirite, and taught diligently the things of the Lord, and knew but the baptisme of Iohn onely.
26And he began to speake boldely in the Synagogue. Whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they tooke him vnto them, and expounded vnto him the way of God more perfectly.
27And when hee was minded to goe into Achaia, the brethren exhorting him, wrote to the disciples to receiue him: and after hee was come thither, he holpe them much which had beleeued through grace.
28For mightily hee confuted publikely the Iewes, with great vehemencie, shewing by the Scriptures, that Iesus was that Christ.

1PASADAS estas cosas, Pablo partió de Atenas, y vino á Corinto.
2Y hallando á un Judío llamado Aquila, natural del Ponto, que hacía poco que había venido de Italia, y á Priscila su mujer, (porque Claudio había mandado que todos los Judíos saliesen de Roma) se vino á ellos;
3Y porque era de su oficio, posó con ellos, y trabajaba; porque el oficio de ellos era hacer tiendas.
4Y disputaba en la sinagoga todos los sábados, y persuadía á Judíos y á Griegos.
5Y cuando Silas y Timoteo vinieron de Macedonia, Pablo estaba constreñido por la palabra, testificando á los Judíos que Jesús era el Cristo.
6Mas contradiciendo y blasfemando ellos, les dijo, sacudiendo sus vestidos: Vuestra sangre sea sobre vuestra cabeza; yo, limpio; desde ahora me iré á los Gentiles.
7Y partiendo de allí, entró en casa de uno llamado Justo, temeroso de Dios, la casa del cual estaba junto á la sinagoga.
8Y Crispo, el prepósito de la sinagoga, creyó al Señor con toda su casa: y muchos de los Corintios oyendo creían, y eran bautizados.
9Entonces el Señor dijo de noche en visión á Pablo: No temas, sino habla, y no calles:
10Porque yo estoy contigo, y ninguno te podrá hacer mal; porque yo tengo mucho pueblo en esta ciudad.
11Y se detuvo allí un año y seis meses, enseñándoles la palabra de Dios.
12Y siendo Galión procónsul de Acaya, los Judíos se levantaron de común acuerdo contra Pablo, y le llevaron al tribunal,
13Diciendo: Que éste persuade á los hombres á honrar á Dios contra la ley.
14Y comenzando Pablo á abrir la boca, Galión dijo á los Judíos: Si fuera algún agravio ó algún crimen enorme, oh Judíos, conforme á derecho yo os tolerara:
15Mas si son cuestiones de palabras, y de nombres, y de vuestra ley, vedlo vosotros; porque yo no quiero ser juez de estas cosas.
16Y los echó del tribunal.
17Entonces todos los Griegos tomando á Sóstenes, prepósito de la sinagoga, le herían delante del tribunal: y á Galión nada se le daba de ello.
18Mas Pablo habiéndose detenido aún allí muchos días, después se despidió de los hermanos, y navegó á Siria, y con él Priscila y Aquila, habiéndose trasquilado la cabeza en Cencreas, porque tenía voto.
19Y llegó á Efeso, y los dejó allí: y él entrando en la sinagoga, disputó con los Judíos,
20Los cuales le rogaban que se quedase con ellos por más tiempo; mas no accedió,
21Sino que se despidió de ellos, diciendo: Es menester que en todo caso tenga la fiesta que viene, en Jerusalem; mas otra vez volveré á vosotros, queriendo Dios. Y partió de Efeso.
22Y habiendo arribado á Cesarea subió á Jerusalem; y después de saludar á la iglesia, descendió á Antioquía.
23Y habiendo estado allí algún tiempo, partió, andando por orden la provincia de Galacia, y la Phrygia, confirmando á todos los discípulos.
24Llegó entonces á Efeso un Judío, llamado Apolos, natural de Alejandría, varón elocuente, poderoso en las Escrituras.
25Este era instruído en el camino del Señor; y ferviente de espíritu, hablaba y enseñaba diligentemente las cosas que son del Señor, enseñando solamente en el bautismo de Juan.
26Y comenzó á hablar confiadamente en la sinagoga: al cual como oyeron Priscila y Aquila, le tomaron, y le declararon más particularmente el camino de Dios.
27Y queriendo él pasar á Acaya, los hermanos exhortados, escribieron á los discípulos que le recibiesen; y venido él, aprovechó mucho por la gracia á los que habían creído:
28Porque con gran vehemencia convencía públicamente á los Judíos, mostrando por las Escrituras que Jesús era el Cristo.

2And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

15But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.
16And he drave them from the judgment seat.
17Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
18And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
19And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
20When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
21But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
22And when he had landed at Cæsarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.
23And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
24And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
25This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
26And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
27And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:
28For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

3and because he practiced the same trade, he lived with them and worked, for by trade they were tent makers.
4He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and persuaded Jews and Greeks.
5When Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.
6When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!”
7He departed there and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.
8Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptized.
9The Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, “Don’t be afraid, but speak and don’t be silent;
10for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city.”
11He lived there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
12But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,
13saying, “This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”
14But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked crime, you Jews, it would be reasonable that I should bear with you;
15but if they are questions about words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves. For I don’t want to be a judge of these matters.”
16So he drove them from the judgment seat.
17Then all the Greeks seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. Gallio didn’t care about any of these things.
18Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.
19He came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself entered into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.
20When they asked him to stay with them a longer time, he declined;
21but taking his leave of them, he said, “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you if God wills.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.
22When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the assembly, and went down to Antioch.
23Having spent some time there, he departed and went through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples.
24Now a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by race, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus. He was mighty in the Scriptures.
25This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John.
26He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside, and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
27When he had determined to pass over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him; and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he had come, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;
28for he powerfully refuted the Jews, publicly showing by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.
