Arrivo adunque a Derbe, e a Listra. Ed ecco, che quivi si ritrovava un certo discepolo per nome Timoteo, figliuolo di una donna Giudea fedele, di padre Gentile.

DESPUÉS llegó á Derbe, y á Listra: y he aquí, estaba allí un discípulo llamado Timoteo, hijo de una mujer Judía fiel, mas de padre Griego.

Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:

A lui rendevano buona testimonianza i fratelli, che erano in Lastra, e in Iconio.

De éste daban buen testimonio los hermanos que estaban en Listra y en Iconio.

Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.

The brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium gave a good testimony about him.

Volle Paolo, che questi andasse seco: e presolo lo circoncise per riguardo de' Giudei, che erano in que' luoghi; perché tutti sapevano, che il padre di lui era Gentile.

Este quiso Pablo que fuese con él; y tomándole, le circuncidó por causa de los Judíos que estaban en aquellos lugares; porque todos sabían que su padre era Griego.

Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.

E passando di città in città raccomandavan di osservare le regole stabilite dagli apostoli, e dai sacerdoti, che erano in Gerusalemme.

Y como pasaban por las ciudades, les daban que guardasen los decretos que habían sido determinados por los apóstoles y los ancianos que estaban en Jerusalem.

And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.

E le chiese si assodavano nella fede, e diventavano ogni giorno più numerose.

Así que, las iglesias eran confirmadas en fe, y eran aumentadas en número cada día.

And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

Passata poi la Frigia, e il paese della Galazia, fu loro vietato dallo Spirito Santo di annunziar la parola di Dio nell'Asia.

Y pasando á Phrygia y la provincia de Galacia, les fué prohibido por el Espíritu Santo hablar la palabra en Asia.

Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,

Ed essendo giunti nella Misia tentavano di andare nella Bitinia, ma nol permise loro lo Spirito di Gesù.

Y como vinieron á Misia, tentaron de ir á Bithynia; mas el Espíritu no les dejó.

After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

E traversata la Misia, giunsero a Troade.

Y pasando á Misia, descendieron á Troas.

And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.

E fu veduta la notte da Paolo una visione. Un cert'uomo di Macedonia se gli presentava pregandolo, e dicendo: passa nella Macedonia, e ajutaci.

Y fué mostrada á Pablo de noche una visión: Un varón Macedonio se puso delante, rogándole, y diciendo: Pasa á Macedonia, y ayúdanos.

And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.

E subito che egli ebbe veduta questa visione, cercammo di partire per la Macedonia, accertati, che ci avesse il Signore chiamati ad evangelizzare colà.

Y como vió la visión, luego procuramos partir á Macedonia, dando por cierto que Dios nos llamaba para que les anunciásemos el evangelio.

And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

E fatta vela da Troade a dirittura andammo a Samotracia, e il dì seguente a Napoli.

Partidos pues de Troas, vinimos camino derecho á Samotracia, y el día siguiente á Neápolis;

Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;

Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the day following to Neapolis;

E di lì a Filippi, colonia, che è la prima città di quella parte di Macedonia e dimorammo in questa città alcuni giorni.

Y de allí á Filipos, que es la primera ciudad de la parte de Macedonia, y una colonia; y estuvimos en aquella ciudad algunos días.

And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.

and from there to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the foremost of the district, a Roman colony. We were staying some days in this city.

E il giorno di sabato uscimmo fuori di porta vicino al fiume, dove pareva, che fosse l'orazione: e postici a sedere parlavamo alle donne congregate.

Y un día de sábado salimos de la puerta junto al río, donde solía ser la oración; y sentándonos, hablamos á las mujeres que se habían juntado.

And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.

E una certa donna per nome Lidia della città di Thiatira, che vendeva la porpora, timorata di Dio, ascoltò: cui il Signore apri il cuore per attendere a quello, che diceva Paolo.

Entonces una mujer llamada Lidia, que vendía púrpura en la ciudad de Tiatira, temerosa de Dios, estaba oyendo; el corazón de la cual abrió el Señor para que estuviese atenta á lo que Pablo decía.

And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one who worshiped God, heard us. The Lord opened her heart to listen to the things which were spoken by Paul.

E battezzata, che fu ella, e la sua famiglia, pregò, dicendo: Se avete giudicato, che io sia fedele al Signore, venite, e fermatevi a casa mia; e ci fe' forza.

Y cuando fué bautizada, y su familia, nos rogó, diciendo: Si habéis juzgado que yo sea fiel al Señor, entrad en mi casa, y posad: y constriñónos.

And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.

When she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.

Accadde poi, che andando noi all'orazione, una serva, che aveva lo spirito di Pitone, ci venne incontro. Ella portava molto guadagno a' suoi padroni col fare l'indovina.

Y aconteció, que yendo nosotros á la oración, una muchacha que tenía espíritu pitónico, nos salió al encuentro, la cual daba grande ganancia á sus amos adivinando.

And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

As we were going to prayer, a certain girl having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by fortune telling.

Costei seguitando Paolo, e noi, gridava: Questi uomini sono servi di Dio altissimo, che annunziano a voi la via della salute.

Esta, siguiendo á Pablo y á nosotros, daba voces, diciendo: Estos hombres son siervos del Dios Alto, los cuales os anuncian el camino de salud.

The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.

Following Paul and us, she cried out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us a way of salvation!”

Ciò ella faceva per molti giorni. Ma Paolo annojato, rivoltosi disse allo Spirito: Ordino a te nel nome di Gesù Cristo, che esca da costei; e nel medesimo punto se v'andò.

Y esto hacía por muchos días; mas desagradando á Pablo, se volvió y dijo al espíritu: Te mando en el nombre de Jesucristo, que salgas de ella. Y salió en la misma hora.

And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

She was doing this for many days. But Paul, becoming greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!” It came out that very hour.

Ma vedendo i padroni di lei, che se n'era andata la speranza del loro guadagno, presero Paolo, e Sila, e gli condussero nel foro ai decurioni:

Y viendo sus amos que había salido la esperanza de su ganancia, prendieron á Pablo y á Silas, y los trajeron al foro, al magistrado;

And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,

But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers.

E presentatigli ai magistrati, dissero: Questi uomini mettono sossopra la nostra città, essendo Giudei:

Y presentándolos á los magistrados, dijeron: Estos hombres, siendo Judíos, alborotan nuestra ciudad,

And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,

When they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “These men, being Jews, are agitating our city

E predicano cerimonie, le quali non è lecito a noi di abbracciare, né di praticare essendo noi Romani.

Y predican ritos, los cuales no nos es lícito recibir ni hacer, pues somos Romanos.

And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.

and advocate customs which it is not lawful for us to accept or to observe, being Romans.”

E insieme la moltitudine insorse contro di essi: e i magistrati, lacerate loro le vesti, ordinarono, che fossero battuti con le verghe.

Y agolpóse el pueblo contra ellos: y los magistrados rompiéndoles sus ropas, les mandaron azotar con varas.

And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.

E date loro molte battiture li cacciarono in prigione, dando ordine al custode, che facesse buona guardia.

Y después que los hubieron herido de muchos azotes, los echaron en la cárcel, mandando al carcelero que los guardase con diligencia:

And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:

Il quale ricevuto simil comando, li mise nella più profonda segreta, e strinse in ceppi i loro piedi.

El cual, recibido este mandamiento, los metió en la cárcel de más adentro; y les apretó los pies en el cepo.

Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

E su la mezza notte Paolo, e Sila oravano, cantando laudi a Dio: e i carcerati gli udivano.

Mas á media noche, orando Pablo y Silas, cantaban himnos á Dios: y los que estaban presos los oían.

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

Ma a un tratto venne un gran tremuoto, e tale, che si scossero le fondamenta della prigione; e si apriron di subito tutte le porte, e si sciolsero a tutti le catene.

Entonces fué hecho de repente un gran terremoto, de tal manera que los cimientos de la cárcel se movían; y luego todas las puertas se abrieron, y las prisiones de todos se soltaron.

And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

E risvegliatosi il custode della prigione, e vedute aperte le porte della prigione, sguainata la spada, voleva uccidersi, credendo, che i prigioni fossero fuggiti.

Y despertado el carcelero, como vió abiertas las puertas de la cárcel, sacando la espada se quería matar, pensando que los presos se habían huído.

And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

The jailer, being roused out of sleep and seeing the prison doors open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.

Ma Paolo gridò ad alta voce, dicendo: Non fare a te male alcuno, mentre siam qui tutti quanti.

Mas Pablo clamó á gran voz, diciendo: No te hagas ningún mal; que todos estamos aquí.

But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

E quegli avendo chiesto del lume entrò dentro, e tremante si gittò a' piedi di Paolo, e di Sila.

El entonces pidiendo luz, entró dentro, y temblando, derribóse á los pies de Pablo y de Silas;

Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

E menatili fuora, disse: Signori, che deggio fare per esser salvo?

Y sacándolos fuera, les dice: Señores, ¿qué es menester que yo haga para ser salvo?

And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Ed essi dissero: Credi nel Signore Gesù, e sarai salvo tu, e la tua famiglia.

Y ellos dijeron: Cree en el Señor Jesucristo, y serás salvo tú, y tu casa.

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

E parlarono della parola del Signore a lui, e a quanti erano nella di lui casa.

Y le hablaron la palabra del Señor, y á todos los que estaban en su casa.

And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

They spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house.

E presili seco in quella stessa ora di notte, lavò le loro piaghe, e fu battezzato egli, e tutta la sua famiglia immediatamente.

Y tomándolos en aquella misma hora de la noche, les lavó los azotes; y se bautizó luego él, y todos los suyos.

And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

E condottigli a casa sua, apparecchiò loro da mangiare, e fece festa dell'avere creduto a Dio con tutti i suoi.

Y llevándolos á su casa, les puso la mesa: y se gozó de que con toda su casa había creído á Dios.

And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

He brought them up into his house and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly with all his household, having believed in God.

E fattosi giorno, i magistrati mandarono i littori a dire: Metti in libertà quegli uomini.

Y como fué de día, los magistrados enviaron los alguaciles, diciendo: Deja ir á aquellos hombres.

And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.

E il custode portò questa nuova a Paolo: I magistrati hanno mandato a liberarvi: or dunque uscite, e andatevene in pace.

Y el carcelero hizo saber estas palabras á Pablo: Los magistrados han enviado á decir que seáis sueltos: así que ahora salid, é id en paz.

And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.

The jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent to let you go; now therefore come out and go in peace.”

Ma Paolo disse loro: Ci hanno battuti pubblicamente, senza che fossimo condannati. Romani, come siamo, messi in prigione, e ora nascostamente ci mandan via? Non sarà così: ma vengano,

Entonces Pablo les dijo: Azotados públicamente sin ser condenados, siendo hombres Romanos, nos echaron en la cárcel; y ¿ahora nos echan encubiertamente? No, de cierto, sino vengan ellos y sáquennos.

But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.

But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us publicly without a trial, men who are Romans, and have cast us into prison! Do they now release us secretly? No, most certainly, but let them come themselves and bring us out!”

Ed eglino ci traggan fuora. Riferirono i littori queste parole a' magistrati, i quali sentendo, che erano romani, ebber paura:

Y los alguaciles volvieron á decir á los magistrados estas palabras: y tuvieron miedo, oído que eran Romanos.

And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans.

The sergeants reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans,

E andarono, e fecer loro buone parole, e trattili fuora li pregarono di partirsi dalla città.

Y viniendo, les rogaron; y sacándolos, les pidieron que se saliesen de la ciudad.

And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.

and they came and begged them. When they had brought them out, they asked them to depart from the city.

Ed eglino usciti di prigione entrarono in casa di Lidia: e veduti i fratelli gli consolarono, e si partirono. La predicazione di Paolo produce gran frutto in Tessalonica. Sedizione mossa contro di lui da' Giudei; il simile in Berea. Paolo in Atene disputa con i Giudei, e con i filosofi, e converte a Cristo Dionigi Areopagita, e alcuni altri.

Entonces salidos de la cárcel, entraron en casa de Lidia; y habiendo visto á los hermanos, los consolaron, y se salieron.

And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.
