1E você, meu filho, torne-se forte com a graça que há em Cristo Jesus.
2Pois você deve ensinar aos outros essas coisas que você e muitos outros me ouviram falar. Ensine estas grandes verdades a homens de confiança que, por seu turno, as transmitirão a outros.
3Tome parte nos meus sofrimentos como um bom soldado de Jesus Cristo.
4E como soldado, não se deixe prender pelos negócios deste mundo, porque se fizer assim você não poderá satisfazer aquele que o alistou em seu exército.
5Siga as determinações do Senhor para a execução da sua obra, como um atleta que ou obedece às regras, ou é desclassificado e não recebe prêmio nenhum.
6Trabalhe arduamente, como um lavrador, e você será o primeiro a receber a sua parte na colheita.
7Pense bem no que estou dizendo, e que o Senhor o ajude a entender de que forma isso se aplica a você.
8Não se esqueça nunca do fato de que Jesus Cristo foi ressuscitado dos mortos, era descendente da família do rei Davi, de acordo com o evangelho que eu anuncio.
9E é por causa disso que eu estou sofrendo e fui posto na prisão como um criminoso. Mas a palavra de Deus não está em cadeias, embora eu esteja.
10Estou muito disposto a sofrer, se isso trouxer salvação e glória eterna em Cristo Jesus para aqueles que Deus escolheu.
11Sou confortado com o seguinte ensino verdadeiro: “Quando morremos por Cristo, isto apenas quer dizer que viveremos com ele.
12E se continuarmos a suportar o sofrimento com paciência, lembre-se de que algum dia iremos governar com ele. Entretanto, se desistirmos e o negarmos, então ele também nos negará.
13Mesmo quando formos infiéis, ele continua fiel para conosco, pois não pode negar-se a si mesmo”.
14Lembre estes grandes fatos ao seu povo, ordenando-lhes em nome do Senhor que não discutam a respeito de coisas sem importância. Essas discussões são inúteis e só causam confusão, e acabam prejudicando os que estão presentes.
15Seja um bom obreiro, um obreiro que não precisa ficar envergonhado quando Deus examina o seu trabalho e que ensina corretamente a palavra da verdade.
16Evite as discussões tolas que levam as pessoas ao pecado e a se afastar de Deus.
17O ensino dos falsos mestres se espalha como a gangrena. Himeneu e Fileto, com suas discussões, são homens assim.
18Deixaram o caminho da verdade, pregando a mentira de que a ressurreição dos mortos já aconteceu; e enfraqueceram a fé de alguns que creram neles.
19Entretanto, a verdade de Deus continua firme como uma grande rocha, e nada a poderá abalar. Ela é um alicerce sobre o qual estão escritas estas palavras: “O Senhor conhece aqueles que realmente são dele” e “todo aquele que pertence ao Senhor não deve fazer coisas erradas”.
20Em algumas casas abastadas há vasilhas feitas de ouro e de prata, bem como algumas feitas de madeira e de barro. As vasilhas caras são usadas para ocasiões especiais, e as vasilhas baratas são usadas no dia a dia.
21Se você ficar afastado do pecado, será como uma dessas vasilhas feitas do mais puro ouro — a melhor da casa — de tal maneira que o próprio Cristo poderá usá-lo para toda boa obra.
22Fuja dos pensamentos impuros da mocidade e aproxime-se de qualquer coisa que o leve a querer fazer o bem. Tenha fé, amor e paz e sinta prazer na companhia daqueles que amam o Senhor e têm coração puro.
23Eu digo novamente: Não se deixe envolver em discussões tolas que só perturbam as pessoas e acabam em brigas.
24O servo do Senhor não deve ser dado a discussões e brigas; deve ser amável para com todos e um mestre paciente.
25Seja humilde quando estiver procurando corrigir aqueles que se opõem à verdade. Porque se você lhes falar com brandura e mansidão, é mais provável que eles, com a ajuda de Deus, abandonem suas ideias e creiam na verdade.
26Então eles cairão em si e escaparão da armadilha da escravidão ao pecado, que o diabo utiliza, e assim poderão voltar a fazer a vontade de Deus.

1PUES tú, hijo mío, esfuérzate en la gracia que es en Cristo Jesús.
2Y lo que has oído de mí entre muchos testigos, esto encarga á los hombres fieles que serán idóneos para enseñar también á otros.
3Tú pues, sufre trabajos como fiel soldado de Jesucristo.
4Ninguno que milita se embaraza en los negocios de la vida; á fin de agradar á aquel que lo tomó por soldado.
5Y aun también el que lidia, no es coronado si no lidiare legítimamente.
6El labrador, para recibir los frutos, es menester que trabaje primero.
7Considera lo que digo; y el Señor te dé entendimiento en todo.
8Acuérdate que Jesucristo, el cual fué de la simiente de David, resucitó de los muertos conforme á mi evangelio;
9En el que sufro trabajo, hasta las prisiones á modo de malhechor; mas la palabra de Dios no está presa.
10Por tanto, todo lo sufro por amor de los escogidos, para que ellos también consigan la salud que es en Cristo Jesús con gloria eterna.
11Es palabra fiel: Que si somos muertos con él, también viviremos con él:
12Si sufrimos, también reinaremos con él: si negáremos, él también nos negará:
13Si fuéremos infieles, él permanece fiel: no se puede negar á sí mismo.
14Recuérdales esto, protestando delante del Señor que no contiendan en palabras, lo cual para nada aprovecha, antes trastorna á los oyentes.
15Procura con diligencia presentarte á Dios aprobado, como obrero que no tiene de qué avergonzarse, que traza bien la palabra de verdad.
16Mas evita profanas y vanas parlerías; porque muy adelante irán en la impiedad.
17Y la palabra de ellos carcomerá como gangrena: de los cuales es Himeneo y Fileto;
18Que se han descaminado de la verdad, diciendo que la resurrección es ya hecha, y trastornan la fe de algunos.
19Pero el fundamento de Dios está firme, teniendo este sello: Conoce el Señor á los que son suyos; y: Apártese de iniquidad todo aquel que invoca el nombre de Cristo.
20Mas en una casa grande, no solamente hay vasos de oro y de plata, sino también de madera y de barro: y asimismo unos para honra, y otros para deshonra.
21Así que, si alguno se limpiare de estas cosas, será vaso para honra, santificado, y útil para los usos del Señor, y aparejado para todo buena obra.
22Huye también los deseos juveniles; y sigue la justicia, la fe, la caridad, la paz, con los que invocan al Señor de puro corazón.
23Empero las cuestiones necias y sin sabiduría desecha, sabiendo que engendran contiendas.
24Que el siervo del Señor no debe ser litigioso, sino manso para con todos, apto para enseñar, sufrido;
25Que con mansedumbre corrija á los que se oponen: si quizá Dios les dé que se arrepientan para conocer la verdad,
26Y se zafen del lazo del diablo, en que están cautivos á voluntad de él.

1Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
5And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
6The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
7Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
8Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
9Where in I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
10Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he can not deny himself.
14Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

1You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same things to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
3You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
4No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.
5Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he isn’t crowned unless he has competed by the rules.
6The farmer who labors must be the first to get a share of the crops.
7Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.
8Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the offspring of David, according to my Good News,
9in which I suffer hardship to the point of chains as a criminal. But God’s word isn’t chained.
10Therefore I endure all things for the chosen ones’ sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11This saying is trustworthy: “For if we died with him, we will also live with him.
12If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us.
13If we are faithless, he remains faithful; for he can’t deny himself.”
14Remind them of these things, charging them in the sight of the Lord that they don’t argue about words to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear.
15Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.
16But shun empty chatter, for it will go further in ungodliness,
17and those words will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus:
18men who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some.
19However, God’s firm foundation stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.”
20Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor and some for dishonor.
21If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master’s use, prepared for every good work.
22Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23But refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife.
24The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle toward all, able to teach, patient,
25in gentleness correcting those who oppose him. Perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth,
26and they may recover themselves out of the devil’s snare, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
