1Paulo, apóstolo de Jesus Cristo, enviado por Deus para falar, por toda parte, a homens e mulheres, a respeito da vida que ele lhes prometeu por meio da fé em Jesus Cristo,
2a Timóteo, meu amado filho. Que Deus, o Pai, e Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor, derramem a sua graça, misericórdia e paz sobre você.
3Como sou grato a Deus por você! Oro todos os dias por você e muitas vezes durante as longas noites suplico ao meu Deus por vocês. Ele é o Deus de meus antepassados e o meu único propósito é servi-lo com a consciência limpa.
4Como estou ansioso por vê-lo de novo! Como eu ficaria feliz com isso, pois me recordo das suas lágrimas quando nos separamos.
5Lembro-me da sua fé não fingida, tal como ocorreu com a sua mãe Eunice e sua avó Lóide; e estou certo de que esta mesma fé continua em você.
6Assim sendo, quero lembrá-lo de conservar viva a chama do dom de Deus que você recebeu quando coloquei minhas mãos sobre a sua cabeça.
7Pois o Espírito que Deus nos deu não é de covardia, mas de poder, de amor e de equilíbrio.
8Por isso, nunca tenha medo de falar do nosso Senhor aos outros, nem de que eles saibam que eu sou seu amigo, muito embora eu esteja aqui na prisão por causa de Cristo. Você deve estar pronto a sofrer comigo de acordo com o poder de Deus, pois ele lhe dará forças no sofrimento.
9Foi ele quem nos salvou e nos escolheu para o seu santo trabalho, não porque merecêssemos, mas porque esse era o seu plano muito antes do princípio do mundo: mostrar o seu amor e a sua graça para conosco por meio de Cristo Jesus.
10E agora ele tornou isso bem claro para nós, mediante a vinda do nosso Salvador Jesus Cristo, que quebrou o poder da morte e nos mostrou o caminho da vida eterna por meio da confiança nele.
11E Deus me escolheu para ser seu pregador e apóstolo e mestre.
12É por isso que eu estou sofrendo aqui na prisão e não estou envergonhado disso, pois conheço aquele em quem confio e tenho certeza de que ele é capaz de guardar em segurança tudo quanto lhe confiei até o dia da sua volta.
13Agarre-se firmemente ao modelo de verdade que eu lhe ensinei, especialmente no tocante à fé e ao amor que Cristo Jesus lhe oferece.
14Conserve bem a capacidade que Deus lhe concedeu e que você recebeu por meio do Espírito Santo que mora em nós.
15Como você sabe, todos os santos que vieram da província da Ásia me abandonaram, inclusive Fígelo e Hermógenes.
16Que o Senhor abençoe Onesíforo e toda a sua família, pois ele me visitou e me animou muitas vezes. Suas visitas me revigoraram como um sopro de ar fresco, e ele nunca se envergonhou por eu estar na prisão.
17De fato, quando ele veio a Roma, procurou por toda parte, tentando encontrar-me, e finalmente conseguiu.
18Que o Senhor dê a ele uma bênção especial no dia da volta de Cristo. E você sabe, melhor do que eu lhe posso contar, quanto ele me ajudou em Éfeso.

1PABLO, apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, según la promesa de la vida que es en Cristo Jesús,
2A Timoteo, amado hijo: Gracia, misericordia, y paz de Dios el Padre y de Jesucristo nuestro Señor.
3Doy gracias á Dios, al cual sirvo desde mis mayores con limpia conciencia, de que sin cesar tengo memoria de ti en mis oraciones noche y día;
4Deseando verte, acordándome de tus lágrimas, para ser lleno de gozo;
5Trayendo á la memoria la fe no fingida que hay en ti, la cual residió primero en tu abuela Loida, y en tu madre Eunice; y estoy cierto que en ti también.
6Por lo cual te aconsejo que despiertes el don de Dios, que está en ti por la imposición de mis manos.
7Porque no nos ha dado Dios el espíritu de temor, sino el de fortaleza, y de amor, y de templanza.
8Por tanto no te avergüences del testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni de mí, preso suyo; antes sé participante de los trabajos del evangelio según la virtud de Dios,
9Que nos salvó y llamó con vocación santa, no conforme á nuestras obras, mas según el intento suyo y gracia, la cual nos es dada en Cristo Jesús antes de los tiempos de los siglos,
10Mas ahora es manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, el cual quitó la muerte, y sacó á la luz la vida y la inmortalidad por el evangelio;
11Del cual yo soy puesto predicador, y apóstol, y maestro de los Gentiles.
12Por lo cual asimismo padezco esto: mas no me avergüenzo; porque yo sé á quien he creído, y estoy cierto que es poderoso para guardar mi depósito para aquel día.
13Retén la forma de las sanas palabras que de mí oíste, en la fe y amor que es en Cristo Jesús.
14Guarda el buen depósito por el Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros.
15Ya sabes esto, que me han sido contrarios todos los que son en Asia, de los cuales son Figello y Hermógenes.
16Dé el Señor misericordia á la casa de Onesíforo; que muchas veces me refrigeró, y no se avergonzó de mi cadena:
17Antes, estando él en Roma, me buscó solícitamente, y me halló.
18Déle el Señor que halle misericordia cerca del Señor en aquel día. Y cuánto nos ayudó en Efeso, tú lo sabes mejor.

1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
2To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
4Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
5When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
6Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
11Where unto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
13Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
14That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
15This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
16The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:
17But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
18The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.

3I thank God, whom I serve as my forefathers did, with a pure conscience. How unceasing is my memory of you in my petitions, night and day
4longing to see you, remembering your tears, that I may be filled with joy;
5having been reminded of the sincere faith that is in you, which lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, in you also.
6For this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
7For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
8Therefore don’t be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God,
9who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,
10but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.
11For this I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

15This you know, that all who are in Asia turned away from me, of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16May the Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain,
17but when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently and found me
18(the Lord grant to him to find the Lord’s mercy in that day); and in how many things he served at Ephesus, you know very well.
