1En ce qui concerne l`avènement de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ et notre réunion avec lui, nous vous prions, frères,
2de ne pas vous laisser ébranler facilement dans vos sentiments, ni alarmer, soit par quelque esprit, soit par quelque parole ou lettre supposées venir de nous, comme si le jour du Seigneur était imminent.
3Que personne ne vous égare d`aucune manière; car auparavant viendra l`apostasie, et se manifestera l`homme de péché, le fils de la perdition,
4l`adversaire qui s`élève contre tout ce qui est appelé Dieu ou honoré d`un culte, jusqu`à s`asseoir dans le sanctuaire de Dieu, et à se présenter comme s`il était Dieu.
5Ne vous souvenez-vous pas que je vous disais ces choses, lorsque j`étais encore chez vous?
6Et maintenant vous savez ce qui le retient, pour qu`il se manifeste en son temps.
7Car le mystère d`iniquité s`opère déjà, mais seulement jusqu`à ce que celui qui le retient encore paraisse au grand jour.
8Et alors se découvrira l`impie, que le Seigneur (Jésus) exterminera par le souffle de sa bouche, et anéantira par l`éclat de son avènement.
9Dans son apparition cet impie sera, par la puissance de Satan, accompagné de toutes sortes de miracles, de signes et de prodiges mensongers,
10avec toutes les séductions de l`iniquité, pour ceux qui se perdent, parce qu`ils n`ont pas ouvert leur cœur à l`amour de la vérité qui les eût sauvés.
11C`est pourquoi Dieu leur envoie des illusions puissantes qui les feront croire au mensonge,
12en sorte qu`ils tombent sous son jugement tous ceux qui ont refusé leur foi à la vérité, et ont au contraire pris plaisir à l`injustice.
13Pour nous, nous devons rendre à Dieu de continuelles actions de grâces pour vous, frères bien-aimés du Seigneur, de ce que Dieu vous a choisis dès le commencement pour vous sauver par la sanctification de l`Esprit et par la foi en la vérité.
14C`est à quoi il vous a appelés par notre prédication de l`Evangile, pour vous faire acquérir la gloire de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
15Ainsi donc, frères, demeurez fermes et gardez les enseignements que vous avez reçus, soit de vive voix, soit par notre lettre.
16Que notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ lui-même, que Dieu notre Père, qui nous a aimés et nous a donné par sa grâce une consolation éternelle et une bonne espérance,
17console vos cœurs et vous affermisse en toute bonne œuvre et bonne parole !

1EMPERO os rogamos, hermanos, cuanto á la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y nuestro recogimiento á él,
2Que no os mováis fácilmente de vuestro sentimiento, ni os conturbéis ni por espíritu, ni por palabra, ni por carta como nuestra, como que el día del Señor esté cerca.
3No os engañe nadie en ninguna manera; porque no vendrá sin que venga antes la apostasía, y se manifieste el hombre de pecado, el hijo de perdición,
4Oponiéndose, y levantándose contra todo lo que se llama Dios, ó que se adora; tanto que se asiente en el templo de Dios como Dios, haciéndose parecer Dios.
5¿No os acordáis que cuando estaba todavía con vosotros, os decía esto?
6Y ahora vosotros sabéis lo que impide, para que á su tiempo se manifieste.
7Porque ya está obrando el misterio de iniquidad: solamente espera hasta que sea quitado de en medio el que ahora impide;
8Y entonces será manifestado aquel inicuo, al cual el Señor matará con el espíritu de su boca, y destruirá con el resplandor de su venida;
9A aquel inicuo, cuyo advenimiento es según operación de Satanás, con grande potencia, y señales, y milagros mentirosos,
10Y con todo engaño de iniquidad en los que perecen; por cuanto no recibieron el amor de la verdad para ser salvos.
11Por tanto, pues, les envía Dios operación de error, para que crean á la mentira;
12Para que sean condenados todos los que no creyeron á la verdad, antes consintieron á la iniquidad.
13Mas nosotros debemos dar siempre gracias á Dios por vosotros, hermanos amados del Señor, de que Dios os haya escogido desde el principio para salud, por la santificación del Espíritu y fe de la verdad:
14A lo cual os llamó por nuestro evangelio, para alcanzar la gloria de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
15Así que, hermanos, estad firmes, y retened la doctrina que habéis aprendido, sea por palabra, ó por carta nuestra.
16Y el mismo Señor nuestro Jesucristo, y Dios y Padre nuestro, el cual nos amó, y nos dió consolación eterna, y buena esperanza por gracia,
17Consuele vuestros corazones, y os confirme en toda buena palabra y obra.

1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

1Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, we ask you
2not to be quickly shaken in your mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter as if from us, saying that the day of Christ has already come.
3Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction.
4He opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.
5Don’t you remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things?
6Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.
7For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way.
8Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;
9even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11Because of this, God sends them a powerful delusion, that they should believe a lie,
12that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth,
14to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word or by letter.
16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,
17comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.
