1Als aber der Sohn Sauls hörte, daß Abner zu Hebron tot war, ließ er seine Hände sinken, und ganz Israel ward bestürzt.
2Es waren aber zwei Männer, Rottenführer des Sohnes Sauls (der eine hieß Baana, der andere hieß Rechab) Söhne Rimmons, des Beerotiters, aus den Kindern Benjamin; denn Beerot wurde auch zu Benjamin gerechnet.
3Und die Beerotiter waren nach Gittaim geflohen, und sie haben sich daselbst aufgehalten bis zum heutigen Tag.
4Jonatan aber, der Sohn Sauls, hatte einen Sohn mit lahmen Füßen. Der war fünf Jahre alt, als die Kunde von Saul und Jonatan aus Jesreel kam. Da hob ihn seine Amme auf und floh. Da sie aber eilends floh, kam er zu Fall und ward lahm; und er hieß Mephiboset.
5So gingen nun die Söhne Rimmons, des Beerotiters, Rechab und Baana, hin und kamen zum Hause Ischbosets, als der Tag am heißesten war; er aber machte seinen Mittagsschlaf.
6Als nun Rechab und sein Bruder Baana in das Haus kamen, Weizen zu holen, da stachen sie ihn in den Bauch und entrannen.
7Denn als sie in das Haus kamen, lag er in seiner Schlafkammer auf seinem Bette; und sie stachen ihn tot und hieben ihm den Kopf ab und nahmen sein Haupt und liefen die ganze Nacht hindurch das Jordantal hinab.
8Und sie brachten das Haupt zu David gen Hebron und sprachen zum König: Siehe, da ist das Haupt Ischbosets, des Sohnes Sauls, deines Feindes, der dir nach dem Leben trachtete! Der HERR hat heute meinem Herrn, dem König, Rache gewährt an Saul und seinem Samen.
9Aber David antwortete Rechab und seinem Bruder Baana, den Söhnen Rimmons, des Beerotiters, und sprach zu ihnen: So wahr der HERR lebt, der meine Seele aus aller Not erlöst hat:
10ich ergriff den, der mir Kunde brachte und sprach: «Siehe, Saul ist tot!» und dabei meinte, ein guter Bote zu sein, und ich tötete ihn zu Ziklag, um ihm den Botenlohn zu geben.
11Wieviel mehr, da diese gottlosen Leute einen gerechten Mann in seinem Hause auf seinem Lager ermordet haben! Und nun sollte ich nicht sein Blut von euren Händen fordern und euch aus dem Lande ausrotten?
12Und David gebot den Knappen; die brachten sie um und hieben ihnen Hände und Füße ab und hängten sie auf am Teiche zu Hebron. Aber das Haupt Ischbosets nahmen sie und begruben es in Abners Grab zu Hebron.

1LUEGO que oyó el hijo de Saúl que Abner había sido muerto en Hebrón, las manos se le descoyuntaron, y fué atemorizado todo Israel.
2Y tenía el hijo de Saúl dos varones, los cuales eran capitanes de compañía, el nombre de uno era Baana, y el del otro Rechâb, hijos de Rimmón Beerothita, de los hijos de Benjamín: (porque Beeroth era contada con Benjamín;
3Estos Beerothitas se habían huído á Gittaim, y habían sido peregrinos allí hasta entonces.)
4Y Jonathán, hijo de Saúl, tenía un hijo lisiado de los pies de edad de cinco años: que cuando la noticia de la muerte de Saúl y de Jonathán vino de Jezreel, tomóle su ama y huyó; y como iba huyendo con celeridad, cayó el niño y quedó cojo. Su nombre era Mephi-boseth.
5Los hijos pues de Rimmón Beerothita, Rechâb y Baana, fueron y entraron en el mayor calor del día en casa de Is-boseth, el cual estaba durmiendo en su cámara la siesta.
6Entonces entraron ellos en medio de la casa en hábito de mercaderes de grano, y le hirieron en la quinta costilla. Escapáronse luego Rechâb y Baana su hermano;
7Pues como entraron en la casa, estando él en su cama en su cámara de dormir, lo hirieron y mataron, y cortáronle la cabeza, y habiéndola tomado, caminaron toda la noche por el camino de la campiña.
8Y trajeron la cabeza de Is-boseth á David en Hebrón, y dijeron al rey: He aquí la cabeza de Is-boseth hijo de Saúl tu enemigo, que procuraba matarte; y Jehová ha vengado hoy á mi señor el rey, de Saúl y de su simiente.
9Y David respondió á Rechâb y á su hermano Baana, hijos de Rimmón Beerothita, y díjoles: Vive Jehová que ha redimido mi alma de toda angustia,
10Que cuando uno me dió nuevas, diciendo, He aquí Saúl es muerto imaginándose que traía buenas nuevas, yo lo prendí, y le maté en Siclag en pago de la nueva.
11¿Cuánto más á los malos hombres que mataron á un hombre justo en su casa, y sobre su cama? Ahora pues, ¿no tengo yo de demandar su sangre de vuestras manos, y quitaros de la tierra?
12Entonces David mandó á los mancebos, y ellos los mataron, y cortáronles las manos y los pies, y colgáronlos sobre el estanque, en Hebrón. Luego tomaron la cabeza de Is-boseth, y enterráronla en el sepulcro de Abner en Hebrón.

1And when Saul’s son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.
2And Saul’s son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin:
3And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)
4And Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
5And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ish-bosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.
6And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
7For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.
8And they brought the head of Ish-bosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
9And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
10When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
11How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
12And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

1When Saul’s son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands became feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.
2Saul’s son had two men who were captains of raiding bands. The name of one was Baanah and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin (for Beeroth also is considered a part of Benjamin;
3and the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and have lived as foreigners there until today).
4Now Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son who was lame in his feet. He was five years old when the news came about Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel; and his nurse picked him up and fled. As she hurried to flee, he fell and became lame. His name was Mephibosheth.
5The sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went out and came at about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth as he took his rest at noon.
6They came there into the middle of the house as though they would have fetched wheat, and they struck him in the body; and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
7Now when they came into the house as he lay on his bed in his bedroom, they struck him, killed him, beheaded him, and took his head, and went by the way of the Arabah all night.
8They brought the head of Ishbosheth to David to Hebron, and said to the king, “Behold, the head of Ishbosheth, the son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life! The LORD has avenged my lord the king today of Saul and of his offspring.”
9David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, “As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
10when someone told me, ‘Behold, Saul is dead,’ thinking that he brought good news, I seized him and killed him in Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his news.
11How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house on his bed, should I not now require his blood from your hand, and rid the earth of you?”
12David commanded his young men, and they killed them, cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up beside the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth and buried it in Abner’s grave in Hebron.
