1Es war aber zu Davids Zeiten eine Hungersnot drei Jahre lang, Jahr für Jahr. Und David suchte das Angesicht des HERRN. Und der HERR sprach: Es ist wegen Saul und wegen des Hauses der Blutschuld, weil er die Gibeoniter getötet hat!
2Da ließ der König die Gibeoniter rufen und redete mit ihnen. Die Gibeoniter aber gehörten nicht zu den Kindern Israel, sondern waren von den Amoritern übriggeblieben; die Kinder Israel hatten ihnen geschworen; dennoch suchte Saul sie zu schlagen in seinem Eifer für die Kinder Israel und Juda.
3So sprach nun David zu den Gibeonitern: Was soll ich euch tun? Und womit soll ich Sühne leisten, damit ihr das Erbteil des HERRN segnet?
4Die Gibeoniter sprachen zu ihm: Wir verlangen weder Gold noch Silber von Saul und seinem Hause, auch ist uns nicht darum zu tun, jemand in Israel zu töten. Er sprach: Was wollt ihr denn, daß ich euch tun soll?
5Sie sprachen zum König: Von dem Manne, der uns verderbte und uns zu vertilgen trachtete, daß wir in ganz Israel keinen Bestand mehr haben sollten,
6von dessen Söhnen sollen uns sieben Männer gegeben werden, daß wir sie aufhängen vor dem HERRN zu Gibea Sauls, des Erwählten des HERRN. Der König sprach: Ich will sie geben!
7Aber der König verschonte Mephiboset, den Sohn Jonatans, des Sohnes Sauls, wegen des Eides bei dem HERRN, der zwischen ihnen war, nämlich zwischen David und Jonatan, dem Sohne Sauls.
8Aber die beiden Söhne, welche Rizpa, Ajas' Tochter, Saul geboren hatte, Armoni und Mephiboset, dazu die fünf Söhne, welche Merab, die Tochter Sauls, Adriel, dem Sohne Barsillais, dem Mecholatiter, geboren hatte, nahm der König
9und gab sie in die Hand der Gibeoniter; die hängten sie auf dem Berge vor dem HERRN auf. Also fielen diese sieben auf einmal und wurden getötet in den ersten Tagen der Gerstenernte.
10Da nahm Rizpa, die Tochter Ajas, das Trauergewand und breitete es für sich auf dem Felsen aus, vom Anfang der Ernte an, bis das Wasser vom Himmel über sie troff; und sie ließ weder des Tages die Vögel des Himmels auf ihnen ruhen, noch des Nachts die Tiere des Feldes.
11Als nun dem David angezeigt wurde, was Rizpa, die Tochter Ajas, Sauls Kebsweib, getan hatte,
12ging David hin und nahm die Gebeine Sauls und die Gebeine Jonatans, seines Sohnes, von den Bürgern zu Jabes in Gilead, die sie von dem Platze zu Bethsan gestohlen hatten, wo die Philister sie aufgehängt hatten des Tages, als die Philister den Saul auf dem Gebirge Gilboa schlugen.
13Und er brachte die Gebeine Sauls und die Gebeine seines Sohnes Jonatan von dort herauf; und man sammelte zu denselben die Gebeine der Gehängten;
14und man begrub die Gebeine Sauls und seines Sohnes Jonatan zu Zela, im Lande Benjamin, im Grabe seines Vaters Kis; man tat alles, wie der König geboten hatte. Darnach ließ sich Gott für das Land erbitten.
15Es erhob sich aber wieder ein Krieg der Philister wider Israel. Und David zog hinab und seine Knechte mit ihm, und sie stritten wider die Philister; David aber ward müde und setzte sich nieder. Da gedachte Ischbi-Benob,
16einer der Kinder Raphas, der eine Lanze im Gewicht von dreihundert Schekel Erz hatte und mit einem neuen Schwert umgürtet war, er wolle David erschlagen.
17Aber Abisai, der Sohn der Zeruja, half ihm und schlug den Philister tot. Da schwuren ihm die Männer Davids und sprachen: Du sollst nicht mehr mit uns in den Streit ausziehen, daß du die Leuchte Israels nicht auslöschest!
18Darnach kam es nochmals zum Kriege mit den Philistern zu Gob. Da erschlug Sibechai, der Chuschatiter, den Soph, welcher auch einer von den Kindern Raphas war.
19Und es erhob sich noch ein Kampf mit den Philistern zu Gob. Da erschlug Elchanan, der Sohn des Jaare-Orgim, ein Bethlehemiter, Goliat, den Gatiter, welcher einen Speer hatte, dessen Schaft wie ein Weberbaum war.
20Und wieder kam es zum Kampfe bei Gat; daselbst war ein Mann von großer Länge, der hatte je sechs Finger an seinen Händen und je sechs Zehen an seinen Füßen, vierundzwanzig an der Zahl; der stammte auch von Rapha.
21Als er nun Israel Hohn sprach, erschlug ihn Jonatan, der Sohn Simeis, des Bruders Davids.
22Diese vier waren dem Rapha zu Gat geboren worden, und sie fielen durch die Hand Davids und seiner Knechte.

1Y EN los días de David hubo hambre por tres años consecutivos. Y David consultó á Jehová, y Jehová le dijo: Es por Saúl, y por aquella casa de sangre; porque mató á los Gabaonitas.
2Entonces el rey llamó á los Gabaonitas, y hablóles. (Los Gabaonitas no eran de los hijos de Israel, sino del residuo de los Amorrheos, á los cuales los hijos de Israel habían hecho juramento: mas Saúl había procurado matarlos con motivo de celo por los hijos de Israel y de Judá.)
3Dijo pues David á los Gabaonitas: ¿Qué os haré, y con qué expiaré para que bendigáis á la heredad de Jehová?
4Y los Gabaonitas le respondieron: No tenemos nosotros querella sobre plata ni sobre oro con Saúl y con su casa: ni queremos que muera hombre de Israel. Y él les dijo: Lo que vosotros dijereis os haré.
5Y ellos respondieron al rey: De aquel hombre que nos destruyó, y que maquinó contra nosotros, para extirparnos sin dejar nada de nosotros en todo el término de Israel;
6Dénsenos siete varones de sus hijos, para que los ahorquemos á Jehová en Gabaa de Saúl, el escogido de Jehová. Y el rey dijo: Yo los daré.
7Y perdonó el rey á Mephi-boseth, hijo de Jonathán, hijo de Saúl, por el juramento de Jehová que hubo entre ellos, entre David y Jonathán hijo de Saúl.
8Mas tomó el rey dos hijos de Rispa hija de Aja, los cuales ella había parido á Saúl, á saber, á Armoni y á Mephi-boseth; y cinco hijos de Michâl hija de Saúl, los cuales ella había parido á Adriel, hijo de Barzillai Molathita;
9Y entrególos en manos de los Gabaonitas, y ellos los ahorcaron en el monte delante de Jehová: y murieron juntos aquellos siete, los cuales fueron muertos en el tiempo de la siega, en los primeros días, en el principio de la siega de las cebadas.
10Tomando luego Rispa hija de Aja un saco, tendióselo sobre un peñasco, desde el principio de la siega hasta que llovió sobre ellos agua del cielo; y no dejó á ninguna ave del cielo asentarse sobre ellos de día, ni bestias del campo de noche.
11Y fué dicho á David lo que hacía Rispa hija de Aja, concubina de Saúl.
12Entonces David fué, y tomó los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonathán su hijo, de los hombres de Jabes de Galaad, que los habían hurtado de la plaza de Beth-san, donde los habían colgado los Filisteos, cuando deshicieron los Filisteos á Saúl en Gilboa:
13E hizo llevar de allí los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonathán su hijo; y juntaron también los huesos de los ahorcados.
14Y sepultaron los huesos de Saúl y los de su hijo Jonathán en tierra de Benjamín, en Sela, en el sepulcro de Cis su padre; é hicieron todo lo que el rey había mandado. Después se aplacó Dios con la tierra.
15Y como los Filisteos tornaron á hacer guerra á Israel, descendió David y sus siervos con él, y pelearon con los Filisteos: y David se cansó.
16En esto Isbi-benob, el cual era de los hijos del gigante, y el peso de cuya lanza era de trescientos siclos de metal, y tenía él ceñida una nueva espada, trató de herir á David:
17Mas Abisai hijo de Sarvia le socorrió, é hirió al Filisteo, y matólo. Entonces los hombres de David le juraron, diciendo: Nunca más de aquí adelante saldrás con nosotros á batalla, porque no apagues la lámpara de Israel.
18Otra segunda guerra hubo después en Gob contra los Filisteos: entonces Sibechâi Husathita hirió á Saph, que era de los hijos del gigante.
19Otra guerra hubo en Gob contra los Filisteos, en la cual Elhanan, hijo de Jaare-oregim de Beth-lehem, hirió á Goliath Getheo, el asta de cuya lanza era como un enjullo de telar.
20Después hubo otra guerra en Gath, donde hubo un hombre de grande altura, el cual tenía doce dedos en las manos, y otros doce en los pies, veinticuatro en todos: y también era de los hijos del gigante.
21Este desafió á Israel, y matólo Jonathán, hijo de Sima hermano de David.
22Estos cuatro le habían nacido al gigante en Gath, los cuales cayeron por la mano de David, y por la mano de sus siervos.

1Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
2And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
3Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?
4And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.
5And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,
6Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.
7But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
8But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:
9And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.
10And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
11And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
12And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:
13And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.
14And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
15Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.
16And Ishbi-benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.
17But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.
18And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.
19And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Beth-lehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
20And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.
21And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.
22These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

1There was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David sought the face of the LORD. The LORD said, “It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.”
2The king called the Gibeonites and said to them (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites, and the children of Israel had sworn to them; and Saul sought to kill them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah);
3and David said to the Gibeonites, “What should I do for you? And with what should I make atonement, that you may bless the LORD’s inheritance?”
4The Gibeonites said to him, “It is no matter of silver or gold between us and Saul or his house; neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel.” He said, “I will do for you whatever you say.”
5They said to the king, “The man who consumed us and who plotted against us, that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the borders of Israel,
6let seven men of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them up to the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of the LORD.” The king said, “I will give them.”
7But the king spared Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
8But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Merab the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.

14They buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father; and they performed all that the king commanded. After that, God answered prayer for the land.
15The Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines. David grew faint;
16and Ishbibenob, who was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear was three hundred shekels of bronze in weight, he being armed with a new sword, thought he would kill David.
17But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him, and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, “Don’t go out with us to battle any more, so that you don’t quench the lamp of Israel.”
18After this, there was again war with the Philistines at Gob. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was of the sons of the giant.
19There was again war with the Philistines at Gob, and Elhanan the son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite’s brother, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
20There was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on every hand and six toes on every foot, twenty-four in number, and he also was born to the giant.
21When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David’s brother, killed him.
22These four were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
