1En los días de David, les faltaba alimento durante tres años, año tras año; y David fue delante del Señor en busca de instrucciones. Y el Señor dijo: Sobre Saúl y su familia hay sangre, porque mató a los gabaonitas.
2Entonces el rey envió a los gabaonitas; (ahora los gabaonitas no eran de los hijos de Israel, sino que eran los últimos de los amorreos, a quienes los hijos de Israel habían hecho un juramento; pero Saúl, en su pasión por los hijos de Israel y Judá, había hecho un intento de exterminarlos.
3Entonces David dijo a los gabaonitas: ¿Qué puedo hacer por ustedes? ¿Cómo voy a compensarte por el daño que se les hizo, para que puedas dar una bendición al pueblo del Señor?
4Y los gabaonitas le dijeron: No se trata de plata y oro entre nosotros y Saúl o su familia; y no está en nuestro poder hacer morir a ningún hombre en Israel. Y él dijo: Di, pues, ¿qué voy a hacer por ustedes?
5Y dijeron al rey: En cuanto al hombre que quiso destruirnos, y que hizo designios contra nosotros para separarnos completamente de la tierra de Israel,
6Que se nos entreguen siete hombres de su familia y los terminaremos colgando ante el Señor en Guibeá de Saúl, el escogido del Señor. Y el rey dijo: Yo se los daré.
7Pero el rey no dejó a Mefi-boset, el hijo de Jonatán, nieto de Saúl, a causa del juramento del Señor entre David y Jonatán, el hijo de Saúl.
8Pero el rey tomó a Armoni y a Mefiboset, los dos hijos de Saúl a quienes Rizpa, la hija de Aja, había dado a luz; y los cinco hijos de la hija de Saúl, Merab, cuyo padre fue Adriel, el hijo de Barzilai el mehola.
9Y los entregó a los gabaonitas, y los mataron, y los colgaron en el monte delante del Señor; Los siete llegaron a su fin juntos en los primeros días de la cosecha de la cebada, al comienzo del corte de la cebada.
10Y Rizpa, la hija de Aja, tendió una tela de cilicio en señal de luto, colocándola en la roca como una cama para ella, desde el inicio del corte de grano hasta que la lluvia cayó sobre ellos del cielo; y ella no permitió que las aves del aire se acercaran a ellos de día, ni a las bestias del campo de noche.
11Y se le dieron noticias a David de lo que Rizpa, la hija de Aja, una de las esposas de Saúl, había hecho.
12Entonces David fue y tomó los huesos de Saúl y su hijo Jonatán de los hombres de quien los había sacado en secreto del lugar público de Bet-sán, donde los filisteos los habían dejado, colgando los cuerpos allí el día en que mataron a Saúl en Gilboa:
13Y tomó los huesos de Saúl y su hijo Jonatán de ese lugar; y juntaron los huesos de los que habían sido muertos por ahorcamiento.
14Y los pusieron con los huesos de Saúl y su hijo Jonatán en el lugar de descanso de Cis, su padre, en Zela, en el país de Benjamín; Hicieron todo lo que el rey les había dado órdenes de hacer. Y después de eso, Dios escuchó sus oraciones en favor del país.
15Y los filisteos volvieron a la guerra con Israel; y David bajó con su pueblo, y mientras estaban en Gob se pelearon con los filisteos:
16Y vino contra David uno de los gigantes llamado Isbi-benob, cuya lanza tenía un peso de trescientos siclos de bronce, y con una espada nueva, hizo un intento de matar a David.
17Pero Abisai, el hijo de Sarvia, acudió en su ayuda y, volviéndose contra el filisteo, le dio su golpe mortal. Entonces los hombres de David prestaron juramento y dijeron: Nunca más volverás a salir con nosotros a la lucha, para que no puedas apagar la luz de Israel.
18Después de esto hubo otra guerra con los filisteos en Gob, y Sibecai el Husatita mató a Saf, uno de los descendientes de los gigantes.
19Y nuevamente hubo guerra con los filisteos en Gob, y Elhanán, el hijo de Jair el de Belén, mató a Goliat de Gat, lanza tenía él asta tan grande como él rodillo de un telar.
20Y nuevamente hubo guerra en Gat, donde había un hombre muy alto, que tenía veinticuatro dedos; seis en cada mano y pies, seis dedos en sus manos y seis dedos en sus pies; Él era uno de los descendientes de los Refaim.
21Y cuando se proponía avergonzar a Israel, Jonatán, el hijo de Simei, el hermano de David, lo mató.
22Estos cuatro eran de la descendencia del Refaim en Gat; y llegaron a su fin por las manos de David y sus siervos.

1Y EN los días de David hubo hambre por tres años consecutivos. Y David consultó á Jehová, y Jehová le dijo: Es por Saúl, y por aquella casa de sangre; porque mató á los Gabaonitas.
2Entonces el rey llamó á los Gabaonitas, y hablóles. (Los Gabaonitas no eran de los hijos de Israel, sino del residuo de los Amorrheos, á los cuales los hijos de Israel habían hecho juramento: mas Saúl había procurado matarlos con motivo de celo por los hijos de Israel y de Judá.)
3Dijo pues David á los Gabaonitas: ¿Qué os haré, y con qué expiaré para que bendigáis á la heredad de Jehová?
4Y los Gabaonitas le respondieron: No tenemos nosotros querella sobre plata ni sobre oro con Saúl y con su casa: ni queremos que muera hombre de Israel. Y él les dijo: Lo que vosotros dijereis os haré.
5Y ellos respondieron al rey: De aquel hombre que nos destruyó, y que maquinó contra nosotros, para extirparnos sin dejar nada de nosotros en todo el término de Israel;
6Dénsenos siete varones de sus hijos, para que los ahorquemos á Jehová en Gabaa de Saúl, el escogido de Jehová. Y el rey dijo: Yo los daré.
7Y perdonó el rey á Mephi-boseth, hijo de Jonathán, hijo de Saúl, por el juramento de Jehová que hubo entre ellos, entre David y Jonathán hijo de Saúl.
8Mas tomó el rey dos hijos de Rispa hija de Aja, los cuales ella había parido á Saúl, á saber, á Armoni y á Mephi-boseth; y cinco hijos de Michâl hija de Saúl, los cuales ella había parido á Adriel, hijo de Barzillai Molathita;
9Y entrególos en manos de los Gabaonitas, y ellos los ahorcaron en el monte delante de Jehová: y murieron juntos aquellos siete, los cuales fueron muertos en el tiempo de la siega, en los primeros días, en el principio de la siega de las cebadas.
10Tomando luego Rispa hija de Aja un saco, tendióselo sobre un peñasco, desde el principio de la siega hasta que llovió sobre ellos agua del cielo; y no dejó á ninguna ave del cielo asentarse sobre ellos de día, ni bestias del campo de noche.
11Y fué dicho á David lo que hacía Rispa hija de Aja, concubina de Saúl.
12Entonces David fué, y tomó los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonathán su hijo, de los hombres de Jabes de Galaad, que los habían hurtado de la plaza de Beth-san, donde los habían colgado los Filisteos, cuando deshicieron los Filisteos á Saúl en Gilboa:
13E hizo llevar de allí los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonathán su hijo; y juntaron también los huesos de los ahorcados.
14Y sepultaron los huesos de Saúl y los de su hijo Jonathán en tierra de Benjamín, en Sela, en el sepulcro de Cis su padre; é hicieron todo lo que el rey había mandado. Después se aplacó Dios con la tierra.
15Y como los Filisteos tornaron á hacer guerra á Israel, descendió David y sus siervos con él, y pelearon con los Filisteos: y David se cansó.
16En esto Isbi-benob, el cual era de los hijos del gigante, y el peso de cuya lanza era de trescientos siclos de metal, y tenía él ceñida una nueva espada, trató de herir á David:
17Mas Abisai hijo de Sarvia le socorrió, é hirió al Filisteo, y matólo. Entonces los hombres de David le juraron, diciendo: Nunca más de aquí adelante saldrás con nosotros á batalla, porque no apagues la lámpara de Israel.
18Otra segunda guerra hubo después en Gob contra los Filisteos: entonces Sibechâi Husathita hirió á Saph, que era de los hijos del gigante.
19Otra guerra hubo en Gob contra los Filisteos, en la cual Elhanan, hijo de Jaare-oregim de Beth-lehem, hirió á Goliath Getheo, el asta de cuya lanza era como un enjullo de telar.
20Después hubo otra guerra en Gath, donde hubo un hombre de grande altura, el cual tenía doce dedos en las manos, y otros doce en los pies, veinticuatro en todos: y también era de los hijos del gigante.
21Este desafió á Israel, y matólo Jonathán, hijo de Sima hermano de David.
22Estos cuatro le habían nacido al gigante en Gath, los cuales cayeron por la mano de David, y por la mano de sus siervos.

1Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
2And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
3Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?
4And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.
5And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,
6Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.
7But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
8But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:
9And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.
10And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
11And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
12And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:
13And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.
14And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
15Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.
16And Ishbi-benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.
17But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.
18And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.
19And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Beth-lehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
20And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.
21And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.
22These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

1There was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David sought the face of the LORD. The LORD said, “It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.”
2The king called the Gibeonites and said to them (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites, and the children of Israel had sworn to them; and Saul sought to kill them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah);
3and David said to the Gibeonites, “What should I do for you? And with what should I make atonement, that you may bless the LORD’s inheritance?”
4The Gibeonites said to him, “It is no matter of silver or gold between us and Saul or his house; neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel.” He said, “I will do for you whatever you say.”
5They said to the king, “The man who consumed us and who plotted against us, that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the borders of Israel,
6let seven men of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them up to the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of the LORD.” The king said, “I will give them.”
7But the king spared Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

22These four were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
