Absalón se levantaba temprano y se paraba al lado del sendero que guiaba a la puerta de la ciudad. Entonces el hombre respondía: "Tu sirviente es de una de las tribus de Israel."
Y levantábase Absalom de mañana, y poníase á un lado del camino de la puerta; y á cualquiera que tenía pleito y venía al rey á juicio, Absalom le llamaba á sí, y decíale: ¿De qué ciudad eres? Y él respondía: Tu siervo es de una de las tribus de Israel.
And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.

Acontenció que cuando cualquier hombre iba a Absalón para honrarle él extendía su mano, lo agarraba y lo besaba.

Absalón actuaba de esta manera con todo Israel que venía ante él rey para juicio. Así que Absalón robó el corazón de los hombres de Israel.

Acontenció que al final de cuatro años Absalón le dijo al rey: ''Por favor déjame ir y pagar un voto que yo le había hecho al SEÑOR en Hebrón.
Y al cabo de cuarenta años aconteció que Absalom dijo al rey: Yo te ruego me permitas que vaya á Hebrón, á pagar mi voto que he prometido á Jehová:
And it came to pass after forty years, that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto the LORD, in Hebron.

Así que el rey le dijo a él: " Ve en paz." Entonces Absalón se levantó y se fue a Hebrón.

Así que David le dijo a todos sus sirvientes que estaban con él en Jerusalén: "Levántense y déjennos salir o ninguno de nosotros escapará de Absalón. Prepárense para irse de inmediato o él se nos adelantará rápidamente, traerá desastre sobre nosotros y atacará la ciudad con el borde de la espada."

And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the LORD liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.

And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and shew me both it, and his habitation:

But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, here am I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him.

El rey también le dijo a Sadoc el sacerdote: "¿No eres tú un vidente? Regresa a la ciudad en paz y tus dos hijos contigo, Ahimaas tu hijo, y Jonatán hijo de Abiatar.

And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
Someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” David said, “LORD, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”
Aconteció que cuando David llegó al tope del sendero, donde se acostumbraba a adorar a Dios, Husai el arquita llegó a encontrarlo con su abrigo desgarrado y tierra en su cabeza.
Y como David llegó á la cumbre del monte para adorar allí á Dios, he aquí Husai Arachîta que le salió al encuentro, trayendo rota su ropa, y tierra sobre su cabeza.
And it came to pass, that when David was come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head:

David le dijo a él: ''Si tú viajas conmigo, entonces serás una carga para mí.

Unto whom David said, If thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me:

Pero si regresas a la ciudad y le dices a Absalón: 'Yo, rey, seré tu sirviente como he sido de tu padre en el tiempo pasado, así ahora yo seré tu sirviente,' entonces confundirás el consejo de Ahitofel para mí.
Mas si volvieres á la ciudad, y dijeres á Absalom: Rey, yo seré tu siervo; como hasta aquí he sido siervo de tu padre, así seré ahora siervo tuyo, entonces tú me disiparás el consejo de Achitophel.
But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father’s servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.
