And Joab sent to Tekoah, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on now mourning apparel, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long time mourned for the dead:
Joab sent to Tekoa and brought a wise woman from there, and said to her, “Please act like a mourner, and put on mourning clothing, please, and don’t anoint yourself with oil; but be as a woman who has mourned a long time for the dead.
Entonces ve donde el rey y háblale sobre lo que te describiré." Así que Joab le dijo las palabras que ella debía decir al rey.
Y entrando al rey, habla con él de esta manera. Y puso Joab las palabras en su boca.
And come to the king, and speak on this manner unto him. So Joab put the words in her mouth.

Cuando la mujer de Tecoa habló al rey ella se postró sobre su rostro en el suelo y dijo: "Ayúdame rey."
Entró pues aquella mujer de Tecoa al rey, y postrándose en tierra sobre su rostro hizo reverencia, y dijo: Oh rey, salva.
And when the woman of Tekoah spake to the king, she fell on her face to the ground, and did obeisance, and said, Help, O king.

El rey le dijo a ella: "¿Qué te sucede?" Ella contestó: "La verdad es que soy una viuda y mi esposo está muerto.
Y el rey le dijo: ¿Qué tienes? Y ella respondió: Yo á la verdad soy una mujer viuda y mi marido es muerto.
And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, I am indeed a widow woman, and mine husband is dead.
The king said to her, “What ails you?” She answered, “Truly I am a widow, and my husband is dead.
Yo tu sierva tenía dos hijos y ellos pelearon entre sí en el campo y no hubo nadie que los separara. Uno golpeó al otro y lo mató.

And thy handmaid had two sons, and they two strove together in the field, and there was none to part them, but the one smote the other, and slew him.

Y ahora la tribu completa se ha levantado contra tu sierva y ellos dicen: 'Danos al hombre que golpeó a su hermano para que podamos hacerlo morir y que pague por la vida de su hermano al que mató.' Y así también ellos destruirán al heredero. Así ellos apagarán la ascua ardiente que me ha quedado y no dejarán para mi esposo ni nombre ni descendencia en la superficie de la tierra."'
Y he aquí toda la parentela se ha levantado contra tu sierva, diciendo: Entrega al que mató á su hermano, para que le hagamos morir por la vida de su hermano á quien él mató, y quitemos también el heredero. Así apagarán el ascua que me ha quedado, no dejando á mi marido nombre ni reliquia sobre la tierra.
And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.
Behold, the whole family has risen against your servant, and they say, ‘Deliver him who struck his brother, that we may kill him for the life of his brother whom he killed, and so destroy the heir also.’ Thus they would quench my coal which is left, and would leave to my husband neither name nor remainder on the surface of the earth.”
Así que el rey le dijo a la mujer: "Ve a tu casa y yo ordenaré que se haga algo por ti."

And the king said unto the woman, Go to thine house, and I will give charge concerning thee.

La mujer de Tecoa dijo al rey: "Mi señor rey la culpa sea sobre mí y sobre la casa de mi padre. El rey y su trono están sin culpa."
Y la mujer de Tecoa dijo al rey: Rey señor mío, la maldad sea sobre mí y sobre la casa de mi padre; mas el rey y su trono sin culpa.
And the woman of Tekoah said unto the king, My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father’s house: and the king and his throne be guiltless.
The woman of Tekoa said to the king, “My lord, O king, may the iniquity be on me, and on my father’s house; and may the king and his throne be guiltless.”
El rey respondió: "Quien te diga algo a ti tráemelo y él no te molestará más."
Y el rey dijo: Al que hablare contra ti, tráelo á mí, que no te tocará más.
And the king said, Whosoever saith ought unto thee, bring him to me, and he shall not touch thee any more.
The king said, “Whoever says anything to you, bring him to me, and he will not bother you any more.”
Entonces ella dijo: "Por favor, que el rey traiga a su memoria al SEÑOR su Dios para que el vengador de sangre no destruya más a ninguno, para que ellos no destruyan a mi hijo." El rey respondió: ''Te prometo, así como Vive el SEÑOR, que ni un pelo de tu hijo caerá a tierra."
Dijo ella entonces: Ruégote, oh rey, que te acuerdes de Jehová tu Dios, que no dejes á los cercanos de la sangre aumentar el daño con destruir á mi hijo. Y él respondió: Vive Jehová, que no caerá ni un cabello de la cabeza de tu hijo en tierra.
Then said she, I pray thee, let the king remember the LORD thy God, that thou wouldest not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, As the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.
Then she said, “Please let the king remember the LORD your God, that the avenger of blood destroy not any more, lest they destroy my son.” He said, “As the LORD lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the earth.”
Entonces, la mujer dijo: "Por favor deja a tu sierva hablar una palabra más a mi Señor el rey. Él dijo: "Habla."
Y la mujer dijo: Ruégote que hable tu criada una palabra á mi señor el rey. Y él dijo: Habla.
Then the woman said, Let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak one word unto my lord the king. And he said, Say on.
Then the woman said, “Please let your servant speak a word to my lord the king.” He said, “Say on.”
Así que la mujer dijo: "¿Por qué entonces usted ha ideado tal cosa contra el pueblo de Dios? Porque al decir ésto el rey es como alguien que es culpable pues el rey no ha traído a casa de vuelta a su hijo desterrado.
Entonces la mujer dijo: ¿Por qué pues piensas tú otro tanto contra el pueblo de Dios? que hablando el rey esta palabra, es como culpado, por cuanto el rey no hace volver á su fugitivo.
And the woman said, Wherefore then hast thou thought such a thing against the people of God? for the king doth speak this thing as one which is faulty, in that the king doth not fetch home again his banished.
The woman said, “Why then have you devised such a thing against the people of God? For in speaking this word the king is as one who is guilty, in that the king does not bring home again his banished one.
Pues todos moriremos y somos como agua derramada en la tierra que no se puede recoger de nuevo. Pero Dios no quitará vida, en cambio Él encuentra una forma para que esos que fueron echados fuera sean restaurados.
Porque de cierto morimos, y somos como aguas derramadas por tierra, que no pueden volver á recogerse: ni Dios quita la vida, sino que arbitra medio para que su desviado no sea de él excluído.
For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.

Ahora entonces, viendo que he venido a hablar esta cosa a mi señor el rey, es porque el pueblo me ha llenado de miedo. Así que tu sierva se dijo a sí misma: 'Hablaré ahora al rey. Podrá ser que el rey lleve a cabo la petición de su sierva.
Y que yo he venido ahora para decir esto al rey mi señor, es porque el pueblo me ha puesto miedo. Mas tu sierva dijo: Hablaré ahora al rey: quizá él hará lo que su sierva diga.
Now therefore that I am come to speak of this thing unto my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid: and thy handmaid said, I will now speak unto the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his handmaid.
Now therefore, seeing that I have come to speak this word to my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid. Your servant said, ‘I will now speak to the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his servant.’
Pues el rey me escuchará a mí, de manera que entregue a su siervo de la mano del hombre que me destruiría a mí y a mi hijo juntos, de la herencia de Dios.'
Pues el rey oirá, para librar á su sierva de mano del hombre que me quiere raer á mí, y á mi hijo juntamente, de la heredad de Dios.
For the king will hear, to deliver his handmaid out of the hand of the man that would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.

Entonces tu sierva oró: "SEÑOR, por favor permite que la palabra de mi señor el rey me brinde alivio porque como un ángel de Dios es mi señor el rey para discernir el bien del mal. Sea el SEÑOR tu Dios contigo."
Tu sierva pues dice: Que sea ahora la respuesta de mi señor el rey para descanso; pues que mi señor el rey es como un ángel de Dios para escuchar lo bueno y lo malo. Así Jehová tu Dios sea contigo.
Then thine handmaid said, The word of my lord the king shall now be comfortable: for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: therefore the LORD thy God will be with thee.
Then your servant said, ‘Please let the word of my lord the king bring rest; for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad. May the LORD, your God, be with you.’”
Entonces el rey respondió y dijo a la mujer: "Por favor no escondas de mí nada de lo que te pregunte." La mujer respondió: "Que mi señor el rey hable ahora."
Entonces él respondió, y dijo á la mujer: Yo te ruego que no me encubras nada de lo que yo te preguntare. Y la mujer dijo: Hable mi señor el rey.
Then the king answered and said unto the woman, Hide not from me, I pray thee, the thing that I shall ask thee. And the woman said, Let my lord the king now speak.
Then the king answered the woman, “Please don’t hide anything from me that I ask you.” The woman said, “Let my lord the king now speak.”
El rey dijo: "¿No está la mano de Joab contigo en todo esto?" La mujer respondió y dijo: "Mientras viva, mi señor el rey, nadie puede escapar a la mano derecha o a la izquierda de nada de lo que mi señor ha hablado. Fue tu siervo Joab quien me mandó y me dijo que dijera estas cosas que tu sierva ha hablado.
Y el rey dijo: ¿No ha sido la mano de Joab contigo en todas estas cosas? Y la mujer respondió y dijo: Vive tu alma, rey señor mío, que no hay que apartarse á derecha ni á izquierda de todo lo que mi señor el rey ha hablado: porque tu siervo Joab, él me mandó, y él puso en boca de tu sierva todas estas palabras;
And the king said, Is not the hand of Joab with thee in all this? And the woman answered and said, As thy soul liveth, my lord the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from ought that my lord the king hath spoken: for thy servant Joab, he bade me, and he put all these words in the mouth of thine handmaid:
The king said, “Is the hand of Joab with you in all this?” The woman answered, “As your soul lives, my lord the king, no one can turn to the right hand or to the left from anything that my lord the king has spoken; for your servant Joab urged me, and he put all these words in the mouth of your servant.
Tu siervo Joab ha hecho ésto para cambiar el curso de lo que está pasando. Mi señor es sabio, como la sabiduría de un ángel de Dios, y el sabe todo lo que está sucediendo en la tierra."
Y que trocara la forma de las palabras, Joab tu siervo lo ha hecho: mas mi señor es sabio, conforme á la sabiduría de un ángel de Dios, para conocer lo que hay en la tierra.
To fetch about this form of speech hath thy servant Joab done this thing: and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.
Your servant Joab has done this thing to change the face of the matter. My lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.”
Así que el rey dijo a Joab: "Mira ahora, yo haré esta cosa. Ve entonces, y trae al joven Absalón de vuelta."
Entonces el rey dijo á Joab: He aquí yo hago esto: ve, y haz volver al mozo Absalom.
And the king said unto Joab, Behold now, I have done this thing: go therefore, bring the young man Absalom again.
The king said to Joab, “Behold now, I have granted this thing. Go therefore, and bring the young man Absalom back.”
Así que Joab se postró sobre su rostro en tierra en honor y gratitud al rey. Joab dijo: "Hoy tu siervo sabe que yo he encontrado favor ante tus ojos, mi señor, rey, en que el rey ha llevado a cabo la petición de su siervo."
Y Joab se postró en tierra sobre su rostro, é hizo reverencia, y después que bendijo al rey, dijo: Hoy ha entendido tu siervo que he hallado gracia en tus ojos, rey señor mío; pues que ha hecho el rey lo que su siervo ha dicho.
And Joab fell to the ground on his face, and bowed himself, and thanked the king: and Joab said, To day thy servant knoweth that I have found grace in thy sight, my lord, O king, in that the king hath fulfilled the request of his servant.
Joab fell to the ground on his face, showed respect, and blessed the king. Joab said, “Today your servant knows that I have found favor in your sight, my lord, O king, in that the king has performed the request of his servant.”
Así que Joab se levantó, fue a Gesur, y trajo de vuelta a Absalón a Jerusalén.

Ahora en todo Israel no había nadie alabado por su belleza más que Absalón. Desde la planta de sus pies hasta el tope de su cabeza no había defecto en él.

And when he polled his head, (for it was at every year’s end that he polled it: because the hair was heavy on him, therefore he polled it:) he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels after the king’s weight.

Y mandó Absalom por Joab, para enviarlo al rey; mas no quiso venir á él; ni aunque envió por segunda vez, quiso él venir.
Therefore Absalom sent for Joab, to have sent him to the king; but he would not come to him: and when he sent again the second time, he would not come.

Entonces Joab se levantó y vino a casa de Absalón y le dijo: "¿Por qué tus siervos han prendido fuego a mi campo?"
Levantóse por tanto Joab, y vino á Absalom á su casa, y díjole: ¿Por qué han puesto fuego tus siervos á mis tierras?
Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set my field on fire?
Then Joab arose and came to Absalom to his house, and said to him, “Why have your servants set my field on fire?”
Absalón le respondió a Joab: "Mira, yo te envié palabra diciendo: 'Ven aquí para yo enviarte al rey a decir: ¿Por qué yo vine de Gesur? Sería mejor para mí todavía estar allá. Ahora, por lo tanto déjame ver la cara del rey y si yo soy culpable deja que él me mate."'
Y Absalom respondió á Joab: He aquí, yo he enviado por ti, diciendo que vinieses acá, á fin de enviarte yo al rey á que le dijeses: ¿Para qué vine de Gessur? mejor me fuera estar aún allá. Vea yo ahora la cara del rey; y si hay en mí pecado, máteme.
And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it had been good for me to have been there still: now therefore let me see the king’s face; and if there be any iniquity in me, let him kill me.
Absalom answered Joab, “Behold, I sent to you, saying, ‘Come here, that I may send you to the king, to say, “Why have I come from Geshur? It would be better for me to be there still. Now therefore, let me see the king’s face; and if there is iniquity in me, let him kill me.”’”
Así que Joab fue al rey y le dijo. Cuando el rey llamó por Absalón, él vino al rey y se postró en tierra ante el rey, y el rey besó a Absalón.
Vino pues Joab al rey, é hízoselo saber. Entonces llamó á Absalom, el cual vino al rey, é inclinó su rostro á tierra delante del rey: y el rey besó á Absalom.
So Joab came to the king, and told him: and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.
