Nun hatte Amnon einen Freund mit Namen Jonadab, Sohn von Davids Bruder Simea; und Jonadab war ein sehr kluger Mann.

Der sprach zu ihm: Warum bist du Morgen für Morgen so elend, Königssohn? Willst du es mir nicht sagen? Da sprach Amnon zu ihm: Ich liebe Thamar, die Schwester meines Bruders Absalom.

And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king’s son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.
He said to him, “Why, son of the king, are you so sad from day to day? Won’t you tell me?” Amnon said to him, “I love Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.”
Jonadab erwiderte ihm: Lege dich aufs Bett und stelle dich krank. Wenn dann dein Vater kommt, dich zu besuchen, so sprich zu ihm: Lass doch meine Schwester Thamar kommen, dass sie mir zu essen gebe. Wenn sie die Speise vor meinen Augen zubereitet, dass ich es sehen kann, so nehme ich von ihr zu essen.
Y Jonadab le dijo: Acuéstate en tu cama, y finge que estás enfermo; y cuando tu padre viniere á visitarte, dile: Ruégote que venga mi hermana Thamar, para que me conforte con alguna comida, y aderece delante de mí alguna vianda, para que viendo yo, la coma de su mano.
And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.
Jonadab said to him, “Lay down on your bed and pretend to be sick. When your father comes to see you, tell him, ‘Please let my sister Tamar come and give me bread to eat, and prepare the food in my sight, that I may see it and eat it from her hand.’”
So legte sich denn Amnon nieder und stellte sich krank. Als nun der König kam, ihn zu besuchen, sprach Amnon zum Könige: Lass doch meine Schwester Thamar kommen, dass sie vor meinen Augen zwei Herzkuchen backe; dann will ich von ihr zu essen nehmen.
Acostóse pues Amnón, y fingió que estaba enfermo, y vino el rey á visitarle: y dijo Amnón al rey: Yo te ruego que venga mi hermana Thamar, y haga delante de mí dos hojuelas, que coma yo de su mano.

Da hob Jonadab, der Sohn von Davids Bruder Simea, an und sprach: Mein Herr denke doch nicht, dass man die jungen Leute, die Söhne des Königs, alle getötet habe. Amnon allein ist tot; denn Absaloms Miene liess nichts Gutes ahnen seit dem Tage, da jener seine Schwester Thamar entehrt hat.

Absalom aber entfloh. Als nun der Wächter Ausschau hielt, sah er viele Leute auf dem Wege nach Horonaim den Berg herabkommen. Da ging der Wächter hinein und meldete dem König: Ich habe Männer vom Wege nach Horonaim an der Seite des Berges kommen sehen.

Kaum hatte er ausgeredet, da kamen auch schon die Söhne des Königs und hoben laut zu weinen an; auch der König und alle seine Diener weinten überlaut, und der König trug Leid um seinen Sohn die ganze Zeit.
