Sucedió, después de esto, que Amnón, hijo de David, estaba muy atraído a su hermosa media-hermana Tamar, quien era hermana completa de Absalón, otro de los hijos de David.

Amnón estaba tan frustrado que se enfermó por causa de su hermana Tamar. Ella era virgen, y le parecía imposible a Amnón hacerle cosa alguna a ella.
Y estaba Amnón angustiado hasta enfermar, por Thamar su hermana: porque por ser ella virgen, parecía á Amnón que sería cosa dificultosa hacerle algo.
And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do any thing to her.

Pero Amnón tenía un amigo cuyo nombre era Jonadab hijo de Simea, hermano de David. Jonadab era un hombre muy perspicaz.

Jonadab le dijo a Amnón: "Por qué, hijo del rey, estás tú deprimido cada mañana? ¿No me lo dirás?" Así que Amnón le contestó: "Yo amo a Tamar, la hermana de mi hermano Absalóm."
Y éste le dijo: Hijo del rey, ¿por qué de día en día vas así enflaqueciendo? ¿no me lo descubrirás á mí? Y Amnón le respondió: Yo amo á Thamar la hermana de Absalom mi hermano.
And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king’s son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.
He said to him, “Why, son of the king, are you so sad from day to day? Won’t you tell me?” Amnon said to him, “I love Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.”
Entonces Jonadab le dijo a él: "Acuéstate en tu cama y finge estar enfermo. Cuando tu padre venga a verte, pregúntale: '¿Podrías por favor enviar a mi hermana Tamar a darme algo de comer y que lo cocine ante mí, de manera que yo pueda verlo y comérmelo de su mano?"''
Y Jonadab le dijo: Acuéstate en tu cama, y finge que estás enfermo; y cuando tu padre viniere á visitarte, dile: Ruégote que venga mi hermana Thamar, para que me conforte con alguna comida, y aderece delante de mí alguna vianda, para que viendo yo, la coma de su mano.
And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.
Jonadab said to him, “Lay down on your bed and pretend to be sick. When your father comes to see you, tell him, ‘Please let my sister Tamar come and give me bread to eat, and prepare the food in my sight, that I may see it and eat it from her hand.’”
Así que Amnón se acostó y fingió estar enfermo. Cuando el rey vino a verlo, Amnón dijo al rey: "Por favor envía a mi hermana Tamar a preparar alguna comida para mi enfermedad en frente de mí para que yo pueda comer de su mano."

So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.

Entonces David envió palabra a Tamar en su palacio, diciendo: "Ve ahora a la casa de tu hermano Amnón y prepara comida para él."

And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.

¿Cómo podría yo deshacerme de mi verguenza? ¿Qué de ti? ¡Tu serías como uno de los necios de Israel! Ahora, por favor habla al rey, pues el no me negará a ti".
Porque, ¿dónde iría yo con mi deshonra? Y aun tú serías estimado como uno de los perversos en Israel. Ruégote pues ahora que hables al rey, que no me negará á ti.
And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.
As for me, where would I carry my shame? And as for you, you will be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from you.”
Sin embargo Amnón no la escuchó. Como él era más fuerte que Tamar, se apoderó de ella y él durmió con ella.
Mas él no la quiso oir; antes pudiendo más que ella la forzó, y echóse con ella.
Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.

Entonces Amnón odió a Tamar con odio extremo. Él la odió aún más de lo que la había deseado. Amnón le dijo a ella: "Levántate y vete."
Aborrecióla luego Amnón de tan grande aborrecimiento, que el odio con que la aborreció fué mayor que el amor con que la había amado. Y díjole Amnón: Levántate y vete.
Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.

por el contrario, él llamó a su sirviente personal y dijo: "Lleva a esta mujer lejos de mí, y tranca la puerta tras ella."

Entonces su sirviente la sacó afuera y trancó la puerta tras ella. Tamar vestía una túnica muy decorada porque las hijas del rey que eran vírgenes vestían de esa manera.
Y tenía ella sobre sí una ropa de colores, traje que las hijas vírgenes de los reyes vestían. Echóla pues fuera su criado, y cerró la puerta tras ella.
And she had a garment of divers colours upon her: for with such robes were the king’s daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.

Absalón su hermano le dijo a ella: "¿Ha estado tu hermano Amnón contigo? Pero ahora quédate callada, mi hermana. Él es tu hermano. No tomes esto en serio." Así que Tamar permaneció sola en la casa de su hermano Absalón.

And Absalom her brother said unto her, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom’s house.

Sucedió luego de dos años que Absalón tenía esquiladores de ovejas trabajando en Baal Hazor, lo cual es cerca de Efraín, y Absalón invitó a todos los hijos del rey a que visitaran allí.
Y aconteció pasados dos años, que Absalom tenía esquiladores en Bala-hasor, que está junto á Ephraim; y convidó Absalom á todos los hijos del rey.
And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baal-hazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king’s sons.

Absalón fue al rey y dijo: "Mira ahora, tu sirviente tiene esquiladores de ovejas. Por favor, que el rey y sus sirvientes vayan conmigo, tu sirviente."
Y vino Absalom al rey, y díjole: He aquí, tu siervo tiene ahora esquiladores: yo ruego que venga el rey y sus siervos con tu siervo.
And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, I beseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant.
Absalom came to the king and said, “See now, your servant has sheep shearers. Please let the king and his servants go with your servant.”
El rey le contestó a Absalón: "No, mi hijo, todos nosotros no debemos ir porque seríamos una carga para ti." Absalón animó al rey, pero él no quería ir, pero sí bendijo a Absalón.
Y respondió el rey á Absalom: No, hijo mío, no vamos todos, porque no te hagamos costa. Y aunque porfió con él, no quiso ir, mas bendíjolo.
And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.
The king said to Absalom, “No, my son, let’s not all go, lest we be burdensome to you.” He pressed him; however he would not go, but blessed him.

Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.

Así que los sirvientes de Absalón hicieron a Amnón según él les había ordenado a ellos. Entonces todos los hijos del rey se levantaron, y todo hombre montó su mula y huyó.

Sucedió que mientras ellos estaban en el camino que la noticia le llegó a David diciendo: "Absalón ha matado a todos los hijos del rey y no queda ni uno de ellos."
Y estando aún ellos en el camino, llegó á David el rumor que decía: Absalom ha muerto á todos los hijos del rey, que ninguno de ellos ha quedado.
And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king’s sons, and there is not one of them left.
While they were on the way, the news came to David, saying, “Absalom has slain all the king’s sons, and there is not one of them left!”
Entonces el rey se levantó, rasgó sus ropas y se acostó en el piso; todos sus sirvientes estuvieron a su lado con sus ropas rasgadas.

Y Jonadab, hijo de Simea hermano de David, habló y dijo: No diga mi señor que han muerto á todos los jóvenes hijos del rey, que sólo Amnón es muerto: porque en boca de Absalom estaba puesto desde el día que Amnón forzó á Thamar su hermana.
And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king’s sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.
Jonadab the son of Shimeah, David’s brother, answered, “Don’t let my lord suppose that they have killed all the young men, the king’s sons, for Amnon only is dead; for by the appointment of Absalom this has been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.
Por tanto no tome mi amo el rey este informe en serio, y no crea que todos sus hijos están muertos, pues solamente Amnón está muerto."
Por tanto, ahora no ponga mi señor el rey en su corazón esa voz que dice: Todos los hijos del rey son muertos: porque sólo Amnón es muerto.
Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king’s sons are dead: for Amnon only is dead.

Absalón salió huyendo. Un sirviente que vigilaba alzó sus ojos y vio mucha gente llegando en el camino en la ladera al oeste de él.

And Jonadab said unto the king, Behold, the king’s sons come: as thy servant said, so it is.

Sucedió tan pronto él había terminado de hablar que los hijos del rey llegaron, alzaron sus voces y lloraron. Y el rey y todos sus sirvientes también lloraron amargamente.
Y como él acabó de hablar, he aquí los hijos del rey que vinieron, y alzando su voz lloraron. Y también el mismo rey y todos sus siervos lloraron con muy grandes lamentos.
And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king’s sons came, and lifted up their voice and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.
