E David disse al messo: Tu dirai a Gioab: Non perderti d'animo per simil cosa: perocché varii sono gli eventi della guerra: e ora questo, ora quello, è divorato dalla spada: fa coraggio a' tuoi guerrieri, e aizzali contro la città per distruggerla.
Y David dijo al mensajero: Dirás así á Joab: No tengas pesar de esto, que de igual y semejante manera suele consumir la espada: esfuerza la batalla contra la ciudad, hasta que la rindas. Y tú aliéntale.
Then David said unto the messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him.
Then David said to the messenger, “Tell Joab, ‘Don’t let this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another. Make your battle stronger against the city, and overthrow it.’ Encourage him.”
