Esta é agora, amados, a segunda carta que lhes escrevo; e em ambas desperto a mente sincera de vocês com lembranças,
CARÍSIMOS, yo os escribo ahora esta segunda carta, por las cuales ambas despierto con exhortación vuestro limpio entendimiento;
This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

para que se lembrem das palavras que foram ditas no passado pelos santos profetas, e do mandamento do Senhor e Salvador, dado por nós, os apóstolos;
Para que tengáis memoria de las palabras que antes han sido dichas por los santos profetas, y de nuestro mandamiento, que somos apóstoles del Señor y Salvador:
That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

sabendo primeiramente isto: que nos últimos dias virão zombadores, andando segundo as suas próprias paixões
Sabiendo primero esto, que en los postrimeros días vendrán burladores, andando según sus propias concupiscencias,
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
knowing this first, that in the last days mockers will come, walking after their own lusts
e dizendo: “Onde está a promessa da sua vinda? Porque, desde o dia em que os pais adormeceram, todas as coisas continuam como eram desde o princípio da criação.”
Y diciendo: ¿Dónde está la promesa de su advenimiento? porque desde el día en que los padres durmieron, todas las cosas permanecen así como desde el principio de la creación.
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Pois eles esquecem voluntariamente que existiam céus desde a antiguidade, e uma terra formada da água e por meio da água pela palavra de Deus;
Cierto ellos ignoran voluntariamente, que los cielos fueron en el tiempo antiguo, y la tierra que por agua y en agua está asentada, por la palabra de Dios;
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
For they willfully forget that there were heavens from of old, and an earth formed out of water and amid water by the word of God,
pelas quais o mundo daquele tempo, sendo inundado com água, pereceu.
Por lo cual el mundo de entonces pereció anegado en agua:
Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
by which means the world that existed then, being overflowed with water, perished.
Mas os céus e a terra que agora existem, pela mesma palavra estão reservados para o fogo, sendo guardados para o dia do juízo e da destruição dos homens ímpios.
Mas los cielos que son ahora, y la tierra, son conservados por la misma palabra, guardados para el fuego en el día del juicio, y de la perdición de los hombres impíos.
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Mas não se esqueçam desta única coisa, amados: que um dia para o Senhor é como mil anos, e mil anos como um dia.

O Senhor não demora em cumprir a sua promessa, como alguns consideram a demora; mas ele é paciente conosco, não desejando que ninguém pereça, mas que todos cheguem ao arrependimento.
El Señor no tarda su promesa, como algunos la tienen por tardanza; sino que es paciente para con nosotros, no queriendo que ninguno perezca, sino que todos procedan al arrepentimiento.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Portanto, uma vez que todas estas coisas serão destruídas desta maneira, que tipo de pessoas vocês devem ser em santo procedimento e piedade,
Pues como todas estas cosas han de ser deshechas, ¿qué tales conviene que vosotros seáis en santas y pías conversaciones,
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
Therefore, since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness,
aguardando e desejando ardentemente a vinda do dia de Deus, o qual fará com que os céus em chamas se desfaçam, e os elementos se derretam com o fogo intenso?
Esperando y apresurándoos para la venida del día de Dios, en el cual los cielos siendo encendidos serán deshechos, y los elementos siendo abrasados, se fundirán?
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
Mas, de acordo com a sua promessa, aguardamos novos céus e uma nova terra, nos quais habita a justiça.
Bien que esperamos cielos nuevos y tierra nueva, según sus promesas, en los cuales mora la justicia.

Vocês, portanto, amados, sabendo destas coisas de antemão, fiquem alertas, para que, não sendo levados pelo erro dos perversos, não caiam da sua própria firmeza.
Así que vosotros, oh amados, pues estáis amonestados, guardaos que por el error de los abominables no seáis juntamente extraviados, y caigáis de vuestra firmeza.

Mas cresçam na graça e no conhecimento de nosso Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo. A ele seja a glória, tanto agora como eternamente. Amém.
