1Alors Elisée dit : Écoutez la parole de l'Éternel ! Ainsi parle l'Éternel : Demain à pareille heure un boisseau de fleur de farine vaudra un sicle et deux boisseaux d'orge un sicle à la Porte de Samarie.
2Et l'adjudant sur la main duquel le roi s'appuyait, répondit à l'homme de Dieu et dit : Voici, quand l'Éternel ouvrirait des fenêtres dans le ciel, la chose arriverait-elle ? Et il reprit : Voici, tu le verras de tes yeux, mais tu n'en mangeras pas.
3Or quatre hommes qui avaient la lèpre, se tenaient à l'avenue de la Porte et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre : Que faisons-nous d'attendre ici jusqu'à notre mort ?
4Si nous disions : Nous entrerons dans la ville ! la famine y est, et nous y mourrions, et si nous restons ici, nous mourons. Eh bien ! venez et passons au camp des Syriens ; s'ils nous laissent vivre, nous vivrons ; s'ils nous font mourir, nous mourrons.
5Ils se levèrent donc au crépuscule pour passer au camp des Syriens, et quand ils atteignirent l'extrémité du camp des Syriens, voilà qu'il n'y avait personne.
6Car le Seigneur avait fait entendre à l'armée des Syriens un fracas de chars et un fracas de chevaux, un fracas de grandes troupes, et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre : Voici, le roi d'Israël a pris à sa solde contre nous les rois des Héthiens et les rois d'Egypte pour fondre sur nous.
7Puis ils se levèrent et fuirent au crépuscule, abandonnant leurs tentes et leurs chevaux et leurs ânes, et leur camp, tel quel, et fuyant pour sauver leur vie.
8Et ces lépreux ayant atteint l'extrémité du camp, pénétrèrent dans une tente, et mangèrent et burent, et en emportèrent de l'argent et de l'or et des habillements qu'ils allèrent cacher ; puis revenant ils pénétrèrent dans une autre tente et y firent des captures qu'ils allèrent cacher.
9Alors ils se dirent l'un à l'autre : Nous n'agissons pas bien ! Ce jour est un jour de bonne nouvelle, et si nous nous taisons et attendons jusqu'à l'aube du matin, nous nous trouverons en état de délit.
10Venez donc et entrons et informons la maison du roi. Et ils vinrent et appelèrent la garde de la Porte de la ville et l'informèrent en ces termes : Nous avons pénétré dans le camp des Syriens, et voilà qu'il n'y avait personne, ni voix d'hommes, mais les chevaux attachés et les ânes attachés et les tentes telles quelles.
11Et la chose fut répétée par les gardes de la Porte, puis transmise à l'intérieur du palais du roi.
12Alors le roi se leva dans la nuit et dit à ses serviteurs : Je veux vous découvrir ce que les Syriens entreprennent contre nous : sachant que nous sommes affamés, ils sont sortis du camp pour se cacher dans la campagne avec cette idée : Qu'ils sortent, et nous les prenons vivants et envahissons la ville.
13Et l'un de ses serviteurs prit la parole et dit : Mais ! que l'on prenne cinq des chevaux restants qui survivent dans la ville (hé ! ils sont comme toute la multitude d'Israël restée dans la ville, comme toute la multitude d'Israël qui dépérit) ; et envoyons en reconnaissance.
14Et ils prirent un double attelage de chevaux, et le roi les envoya sur les traces de l'armée des Syriens avec cet ordre : Allez et voyez !
15Et ils les suivirent jusqu'au Jourdain, et voilà que toute la route était jonchée d'habillements et de meubles que les Syriens avaient jetés dans leur précipitation. Ensuite les courriers revinrent et firent rapport au roi.
16Alors le peuple sortit et pilla le camp des Syriens, et l'on eut un boisseau de fleur de farine pour un sicle et deux boisseaux d'orge pour un sicle selon la parole de l'Éternel.
17Et le roi avait confié la garde de la Porte à l'adjudant sur la main duquel il s'appuyait ; et celui-ci fut écrasé contre la Porte par le peuple et il mourut, comme l'avait annoncé l'homme de Dieu, qui avait parlé lorsque le roi descendit chez lui.
18En effet, lorsque l'homme de Dieu parlait au roi en ces termes : On aura deux boisseaux d'orge pour un sicle et un boisseau de fleur de farine pour un sicle demain à pareille heure dans la Porte de Samarie,
19l'adjudant répondit à l'homme de Dieu en ces termes : L'Éternel va-t-Il ouvrir des fenêtres dans le ciel ? pareille chose arrivera-t-elle ? Et Elisée répondit : Voici, tu le verras de tes yeux, mais tu n'en mangeras pas.
20Et il en fut ainsi pour lui, et il fut écrasé par le peuple dans la Porte, et il mourut.

1DIJO entonces Eliseo: Oid palabra de Jehová: Así dijo Jehová: Mañana á estas horas valdrá el seah de flor de harina un siclo, y dos seah de cebada un siclo, á la puerta de Samaria.
2Y un príncipe sobre cuya mano el rey se apoyaba, respondió al varón de Dios, y dijo: Si Jehová hiciese ahora ventanas en el cielo, ¿sería esto así? Y él dijo: He aquí tú lo verás con tus ojos, mas no comerás de ello.
3Y había cuatro hombres leprosos á la entrada de la puerta, los cuales dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Para qué nos estamos aquí hasta que muramos?
4Si tratáremos de entrar en la ciudad, por el hambre que hay en la ciudad moriremos en ella; y si nos quedamos aquí, también moriremos. Vamos pues ahora, y pasémonos al ejército de los Siros: si ellos nos dieren la vida, viviremos; y si nos dieren la muerte, moriremos.
5Levantáronse pues en el principio de la noche, para irse al campo de los Siros; y llegando á las primeras estancias de los Siros, no había allí hombre.
6Porque el Señor había hecho que en el campo de los Siros se oyese estruendo de carros, ruido de caballos, y estrépito de grande ejército; y dijéronse los unos á los otros: He aquí el rey de Israel ha pagado contra nosotros á los reyes de los Hetheos, y á los reyes de los Egipcios, para que vengan contra nosotros.
7Y así se habían levantado y huído al principio de la noche, dejando sus tiendas, sus caballos, sus asnos, y el campo como se estaba; y habían huído por salvar las vidas.
8Y como los leprosos llegaron á las primeras estancias, entráronse en una tienda, y comieron y bebieron, y tomaron de allí plata, y oro, y vestidos, y fueron, y escondiéronlo: y vueltos, entraron en otra tienda, y de allí también tomaron, y fueron, y escondieron.
9Y dijéronse el uno al otro: No hacemos bien: hoy es día de buena nueva, y nosotros callamos: y si esperamos hasta la luz de la mañana, nos alcanzará la maldad. Vamos pues ahora, entremos, y demos la nueva en casa del rey.
10Y vinieron, y dieron voces á los guardas de la puerta de la ciudad, y declaráronles, diciendo: Nosotros fuimos al campo de los Siros, y he aquí que no había allí hombre, ni voz de hombre, sino caballos atados, asnos también atados, y el campo como se estaba.
11Y los porteros dieron voces, y declaráronlo dentro, en el palacio del rey.
12Y levantóse el rey de noche, y dijo á sus siervos: Yo os declararé lo que nos han hecho los Siros. Ellos saben que tenemos hambre, y hanse salido de las tiendas y escondídose en el campo, diciendo: Cuando hubieren salido de la ciudad, los tomaremos vivos, y entraremos en la ciudad.
13Entonces respondió uno de sus siervos, y dijo: Tomen ahora cinco de los caballos que han quedado en la ciudad, (porque ellos también son como toda la multitud de Israel que ha quedado en ella; también ellos son como toda la multitud de Israel que ha perecido;) y enviemos, y veamos qué hay.
14Tomaron pues dos caballos de un carro, y envió el rey tras el campo de los Siros, diciendo: Id, y ved.
15Y ellos fueron, y siguiéronlos hasta el Jordán: y he aquí, todo el camino estaba lleno de vestidos y enseres que los Siros habían arrojado con la premura. Y volvieron los mensajeros, é hiciéronlo saber al rey.
16Entonces el pueblo salió, y saquearon el campo de los Siros. Y fué vendido un seah de flor de harina por un siclo, y dos seah de cebada por un siclo, conforme á la palabra de Jehová.
17Y el rey puso á la puerta á aquel príncipe sobre cuya mano él se apoyaba: y atropellóle el pueblo á la entrada, y murió, conforme á lo que había dicho el varón de Dios, lo que habló cuando el rey descendió á él.
18Aconteció pues de la manera que el varón de Dios había hablado al rey, diciendo: Dos seah de cebada por un siclo, y el seah de flor de harina será vendido por un siclo mañana á estas horas, á la puerta de Samaria.
19A lo cual aquel príncipe había respondido al varón de Dios, diciendo: Aunque Jehová hiciese ventanas en el cielo, ¿pudiera ser eso? Y él dijo: He aquí tú lo verás con tus ojos, mas no comerás de ello.
20Y vínole así; porque el pueblo le atropelló á la entrada, y murió.
King James Version
1Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
2Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
3And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
4If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
5And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.
6For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.
7Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.
8And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.
9Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.
10So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.
11And he called the porters; and they told it to the king’s house within.
12And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.
13And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.
14They took therefore two chariot horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.
15And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.
16And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.
17And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.
18And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:
19And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
20And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.

1Elisha said, “Hear the LORD’s word. The LORD says, ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour will be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.’”
2Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, “Behold, if the LORD made windows in heaven, could this thing be?” He said, “Behold, you will see it with your eyes, but will not eat of it.”
3Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate. They said to one another, “Why do we sit here until we die?
4If we say, ‘We will enter into the city,’ then the famine is in the city, and we will die there. If we sit still here, we also die. Now therefore come, and let’s surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they save us alive, we will live; and if they kill us, we will only die.”
5They rose up in the twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians. When they had come to the outermost part of the camp of the Syrians, behold, no man was there.
6For the Lord had made the army of the Syrians to hear the sound of chariots and the sound of horses, even the noise of a great army; and they said to one another, “Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us.”
7Therefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, their horses, and their donkeys, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.
8When these lepers came to the outermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and ate and drank, then carried away silver, gold, and clothing and went and hid it. Then they came back, and entered into another tent and carried things from there also, and went and hid them.
9Then they said to one another, “We aren’t doing right. Today is a day of good news, and we keep silent. If we wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come, let’s go and tell the king’s household.”
10So they came and called to the city gatekeepers; and they told them, “We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, not even a man’s voice, but the horses tied, and the donkeys tied, and the tents as they were.”
11Then the gatekeepers called out and told it to the king’s household within.
12The king arose in the night, and said to his servants, “I will now show you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we are hungry. Therefore they have gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, ‘When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive, and get into the city.’”
13One of his servants answered, “Please let some people take five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are left in it. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are consumed. Let’s send and see.”
14Therefore they took two chariots with horses; and the king sent them out to the Syrian army, saying, “Go and see.”
15They went after them to the Jordan; and behold, all the path was full of garments and equipment which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. The messengers returned and told the king.
16The people went out and plundered the camp of the Syrians. So a seah of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the LORD’s word.
17The king had appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate; and the people trampled over him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him.
18It happened as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, “Two seahs of barley for a shekel, and a seah of fine flour for a shekel, shall be tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria;”
19and that captain answered the man of God, and said, “Now, behold, if the LORD made windows in heaven, might such a thing be?” and he said, “Behold, you will see it with your eyes, but will not eat of it.”
20It happened like that to him, for the people trampled over him in the gate, and he died.
