LOS hijos de los profetas dijeron á Eliseo: He aquí, el lugar en que moramos contigo nos es estrecho.
And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
The sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we live and meet with you is too small for us.
Por favor déjanos ir al Jordán, y deja que cada hombre corte un árbol ahí, y deja que construyamos un lugar ahí donde podamos vivir." Eliseo contestó: "Ustedes pueden ir adelante."
Vamos ahora al Jordán, y tomemos de allí cada uno una viga, y hagámonos allí lugar en que habitemos. Y él dijo: Andad.
Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
Please let us go to the Jordan, and each man take a beam from there, and let’s make us a place there, where we may live.” He answered, “Go!”
Uno de ellos dijo: "Por favor ve con tus siervos." Eliseo contestó: "Yo iré."

And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
One said, “Please be pleased to go with your servants.” He answered, “I will go.”

Así que el hombre de Dios dijo: "¿Dónde cayó?" El hombre mostró a Eliseo el lugar. Él luego cortó un palo, lo lanzó en el agua, e hizo que el hierro flotara.

And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
The man of God asked, “Where did it fall?” He showed him the place. He cut down a stick, threw it in there, and made the iron float.
Eliseo dijo: "Tómalo." Así que el hombre extendió su mano y la agarró.

Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.
Now the king of Syria was at war against Israel; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, “My camp will be in such and such a place.”
Así que el hombre de Dios envió al rey de Israel diciendo: "Ten cuidado de no pasar por ese lugar, puesto que los arameos van bajando por ahí."
Y el varón de Dios envió á decir al rey de Israel: Mira que no pases por tal lugar, porque los Siros van allí.
And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.

Luego el rey de Israel envió hombres al lugar sobre el cual el hombre de Dios le había advertido a él. Mas de una o dos veces, el rey fue allá, él estuvo en guardia.

Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?
The king of Syria’s heart was very troubled about this. He called his servants, and said to them, “Won’t you show me which of us is for the king of Israel?”
Así que uno de sus sirvientes dijo: "¡No, rey, señor mío, sino que el profeta Eliseo en Israel dice al rey de Israel las palabras que usted habla en su propio dormitorio!"

And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
One of his servants said, “No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”
El rey contestó: "Vé y mira donde Eliseo está para que yo pueda enviar hombres y lo capturen a él." Se le dijo a él: "Mira, él está en Dotán."

And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

Así que el rey envió a Dotán caballos, carros y un ejército grande. Ellos vinieron de noche y rodearon la ciudad.

Cuando el sirviente del hombre de Dios se hubo levantado temprano y salió fuera, he aquí, un gran ejército con caballos y carros rodearon la ciudad. Y su sirviente le dijo: "¡Oh, señor mío amo! ¿Qué haremos nosotros?"
Y levantándose de mañana el que servía al varón de Dios, para salir, he aquí el ejército que tenía cercada la ciudad, con gente de á caballo y carros. Entonces su criado le dijo: ¡Ah, señor mío! ¿qué haremos?
And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
When the servant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. His servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”
Eliseo contestó: "No temas, por cuanto los que están con nosotros son más que aquellos que están con ellos."
Y él le dijo: No hayas miedo: porque más son los que están con nosotros que los que están con ellos.
And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
He answered, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
Eliseo oró y dijo: "SEÑOR, yo te ruego que tú abras sus ojos para que él pueda ver." Luego el SEÑOR abrió los ojos de su sirviente y él vio. ¡He aquí, la montaña estaba llena de caballos y carros de fuego alrededor de Eliseo!
Y oró Eliseo, y dijo: Ruégote, oh Jehová, que abras sus ojos para que vea. Entonces Jehová abrió los ojos del mozo, y miró: y he aquí que el monte estaba lleno de gente de á caballo, y de carros de fuego alrededor de Eliseo.
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, please open his eyes, that he may see.” the LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.
Cuando los arameos bajaron a él, Eliseo oró al SEÑOR y dijo: "Golpea a estas personas con ceguera, Yo te lo pido." Así el SEÑOR los cegó, como Eliseo le había pedido.

And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

Luego Eliseo le dijo a los arameos: "Este no es el camino, ni es esta la ciudad. Síganme, y yo los llevaré al hombre a quien ustedes buscan." Y él los dirigió a Samaria.
Después les dijo Eliseo: No es este el camino, ni es esta la ciudad; seguidme, que yo os guiaré al hombre que buscáis. Y guiólos á Samaria.
And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.

Aconteció que cuando ellos llegaron a Samaria, Eliseo dijo: "SEÑOR, abre los ojos de estos hombres para que ellos puedan ver." El SEÑOR abrió sus ojos y ellos vieron y, he aquí, ellos estaban en medio de la ciudad de Samaria.
Y así que llegaron á Samaria, dijo Eliseo: Jehová, abre los ojos de éstos, para que vean. Y Jehová abrió sus ojos, y miraron, y halláronse en medio de Samaria.
And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
When they had come into Samaria, Elisha said, “LORD, open these men’s eyes, that they may see.” The LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and behold, they were in the middle of Samaria.
El rey de Israel dijo a Eliseo, cuando los vio: "¿Padre mío, debo yo matarlos? ¿Debo matarlos?"

And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?
The king of Israel said to Elisha, when he saw them, “My father, shall I strike them? Shall I strike them?”
Eliseo le contestó: "No los debe matar a ellos. ¿Matarías a aquellos a quienes tú hayas tomado cautivos con tu espada y arco? Pon pan y agua frente a ellos, para que ellos puedan comer y beber, e ir donde su señor."
Y él le respondió: No los hieras; ¿herirías tú á los que tomaste cautivos con tu espada y con tu arco? Pon delante de ellos pan y agua, para que coman y beban, y se vuelvan á sus señores.
And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
He answered, “You shall not strike them. Would you strike those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, then go to their master.”
Así que el rey preparó mucha comida para ellos y cuando ellos habían comido y bebido, él los envió, y ellos fueron de vuelta a su señor. Estas bandas de soldados arameos no regresaron por un largo tiempo a la tierra de Israel.

And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.

Mientras el rey de Israel iba pasando por la muralla, una mujer le gritó a él diciendo: "Ayuda, rey, señor mío, el rey."

And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.
As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!”
Él dijo: "Si el SEÑOR no te ayuda, ¿cómo te puedo ayudar yo? ¿Habrá algo que trillar o en la prensa de vino?"
Y él dijo: Si no te salva Jehová, ¿de dónde te tengo de salvar yo? ¿del alfolí, ó del lagar?
And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?
He said, “If the LORD doesn’t help you, where could I get help for you? From the threshing floor, or from the wine press?”
El rey continuó: "¿Qué te está molestando?" Ella contestó: "Esta mujer me dijo a mí: 'Dame tu hijo para que nosotros podamos comerlo hoy, y nos comeremos a mi hijo mañana."
Y díjole el rey: ¿Qué tienes? Y ella respondió: Esta mujer me dijo: Da acá tu hijo, y comámoslo hoy, y mañana comeremos el mío.
And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.
Then the king asked her, “What is your problem?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’
Así que hervimos a mi hijo y lo comimos, y le dije a ella al próximo día: "Dame tu hijo para que podamos comerlo, pero ella ha escondido su hijo."
Cocimos pues mi hijo, y le comimos. El día siguiente yo le dije: Da acá tu hijo, y comámoslo. Mas ella ha escondido su hijo.
So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.

Así que cuando el rey escuchó las palabras de la mujer, razgó sus ropas (ahora él estaba pasando el muro), y el pueblo miró y vio que él tenía ropa de saco contra su piel.
Y como el rey oyó las palabras de aquella mujer, rasgó sus vestidos, y pasó así por el muro: y llegó á ver el pueblo el saco que traía interiormente sobre su carne.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh.
When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes. Now he was passing by on the wall, and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth underneath on his body.
Luego él dijo: "Así me haga Dios a mi, y más también, si la cabeza de Eliseo hijo de Safat permanece en él hoy."
Y él dijo: Así me haga Dios, y así me añada, si la cabeza de Eliseo hijo de Saphat quedare sobre él hoy.
Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.
Then he said, “God do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat stays on him today.”
Pero Eliseo estaba sentado en su casa y los ancianos estaban sentados con él. El rey envió un hombre delante de él, pero antes que el mensajero viniera a Eliseo, él dijo a los ancianos: "Miren, ¿cómo este hijo de asesino ha enviado a llevarse mi cabeza? Miren, cuando el mensajero llegue, cierren la puerta, y manténgan la puerta cerrada tras él. ¿No está el ruido de los pies de su amo detrás de él?"
Estaba á la sazón Eliseo sentado en su casa, y con él estaban sentados los ancianos: y el rey envió á él un hombre. Mas antes que el mensajero viniese á él, dijo él á los ancianos: ¿No habéis visto cómo este hijo del homicida me envía á quitar la cabeza? Mirad pues, y cuando viniere el mensajero, cerrad la puerta, é impedidle la entrada: ¿no viene tras él el ruido de los pies de su amo?
But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?
But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Then the king sent a man from before him; but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, “Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Behold, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door shut against him. Isn’t the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”
Mientras él aun estaba hablando con ellos, he aquí, el mensajero bajó donde él. El rey había dicho: "He aquí, este problema viene de SEÑOR. ¿Por qué yo debería esperar más tiempo al SEÑOR?"
Aun estaba él hablando con ellos, y he aquí el mensajero que descendía á él; y dijo: Ciertamente este mal de Jehová viene. ¿Para qué tengo de esperar más á Jehová?
And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?
While he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, “Behold, this evil is from the LORD. Why should I wait for the LORD any longer?”
