1Naeman aber, der Feldhauptmann des Königs von Aram, galt viel bei seinem Herrn und war hoch angesehen, denn durch ihn hatte Jahwe den Aramäern Sieg verliehen; aber der Mann war bei aller Vortrefflichkeit aussätzig.
2Nun hatten einst Aramäer auf einem Streifzug eine junge Dirne aus dem Lande Israel als Gefangene hinweggeführt; die stand im Dienste der Gemahlin Naemans.
3Da sprach sie zu ihrer Herrin: Ach, daß mein Herr bei dem Propheten zu Samaria wäre! Der würde ihn von seinem Aussatze befreien.
4Da ging Naeman hinein zu seinem Herrn und teilte ihm mit: So und so hat die Dirne aus dem Land Israel geredet.
5Darauf sprach der König von Aram: Ziehe nur hin, ich werde dem Könige von Israel einen Brief senden. Also zog er hin und nahm zehn Talente Silber, sechstausend Sekel Gold und zehn vollständige Anzüge mit sich
6und überbrachte dem Könige von Israel den Brief, in welchem stand: Wenn nun dieser Brief an dich gelangt, so wisse: ich habe meinen Diener Naeman zu dir gesandt, damit du ihn von seinem Aussatze befreiest.
7Als aber der König von Israel den Brief gelesen hatte, zerriß er seine Kleider und sprach: Bin ich denn ein Gott, der töten und lebendig machen kann, daß dieser mir entbieten läßt, einen Menschen von seinem Aussatze zu befreien? Da seht ihr ja nun deutlich, wie er Händel mit mir sucht!
8Sobald aber Elisa, der Mann Gottes, vernahm, daß der König von Israel seine Kleider zerrissen habe, sandte er zum König und ließ ihm sagen: Warum hast du deine Kleider zerrissen? Laß ihn nur zu mir kommen, so soll er erfahren, daß es Propheten in Israel giebt!
9Also kam Naeman mit seinen Rossen und Wagen und hielt vor der Thüre des Hauses Elisas.
10Da sandte Elisa einen Boten zu ihm und ließ ihm sagen: Gehe hin und bade dich siebenmal im Jordan, so wird dein Fleisch wieder hergestellt werden, und du wirst rein sein!
11Naeman aber ward unwillig und ging hinweg mit den Worten: Meinte ich doch, er werde zu mir herauskommen und hertreten, den Namen Jahwes, seines Gottes, anrufen, seine Hand über die Stelle schwingen und so den Aussatz beseitigen.
12Sind nicht Abana und Pharphar, die Flüsse von Damaskus, besser als alle Wasser in Israel? Könnte ich mich nicht in ihnen baden und rein werden? Also wandte er sich und ging voller Zorn hinweg.
13Da traten seine Diener heran und redeten ihm zu und sprachen: Wenn dir der Prophet etwas Schweres anbefohlen hätte, würdest du es nicht thun? Wieviel mehr, da er zu dir gesagt hat: Bade dich, so wirst du rein sein!
14Da zog er hinab und tauchte siebenmal im Jordan unter, wie der Mann Gottes geboten hatte; da ward sein Fleisch wieder hergestellt wie das eines jungen Knaben, und er war rein.
15Da kehrte er mit seinem ganzen Gefolge zu dem Manne Gottes zurück, und als er hinkam, trat er vor ihn und sprach: Wisse, ich habe nun erkannt, daß es keinen Gott giebt in allen Landen, außer in Israel; so nimm denn nun ein Abschiedsgeschenk von deinem Knechte!
16Er aber sprach: So wahr Jahwe lebt, in dessen Dienst ich stehe: ich nehme nichts! Und obwohl er in ihn drang, es zu nehmen, weigerte er sich.
17Da sprach Naeman: Wenn denn nicht, so möge wenigstens deinem Knecht eine Last Erde - so viel, als zwei Maultiere tragen können - gegeben werden. Denn dein Knecht will fortan keinen anderen Göttern mehr Brandopfer und Schlachtopfer bringen, sondern nur Jahwe!
18Aber in dem Stücke wolle Jahwe deinem Knechte verzeihen: wenn mein Herr in den Tempel Rimmons geht, um daselbst anzubeten, und sich dabei auf meinen Arm stützt, so daß ich mich mit niederwerfe im Tempel Rimmons, wenn er sich dort niederwirft, so wolle doch Jahwe deinem Knecht in diesem Stücke verzeihen!
19Er aber sprach zu ihm: Ziehe hin in Frieden! Als er nun eine Strecke Wegs von ihm fortgezogen war,
20sprach Gehasi, der Diener Elisas, des Gottesmannes, bei sich selbst: Da hat nun mein Herr diesen Aramäer Naeman geschont und hat von ihm nicht angenommen, was er hergebracht hat. So wahr Jahwe lebt, ich muß ihm nachlaufen und mir etwas von ihm geben lassen!
21Also rannte Gehasi dem Naeman nach. Als aber Naeman bemerkte, daß ihm einer nachlief, sprang er vom Wagen, ging ihm entgegen und fragte: Steht alles wohl?
22Er antwortete Ja! Mein Herr sendet mich und läßt dir sagen: Da sind soeben vom Gebirge Ephraim zwei junge Leute, die zu den Prophetenjüngern gehören, zu mir gekommen; gieb mir doch für sie ein Talent Silbers und zwei Anzüge!
23Naeman erwiderte: Thue mir den Gefallen und nimm zwei Talente! Und er drang in ihn und band zwei Talente Silbers in zwei Beutel und zwei Anzüge und gab sie seinen beiden Dienern; die trugen sie vor ihm her.
24Als er aber an den Hügel gelangt war, nahm er sie ihnen ab, verwahrte sie im Hause und ließ die Männer gehen. Als sie sich entfernt hatten,
25ging er hinein und trat vor seinen Herrn. Elisa aber fragte ihn: Woher, Gehasi? Er antwortete: Dein Knecht war nirgends hingegangen.
26Er aber sprach zu ihm: Bin ich nicht im Geiste mit dir gegangen, als ein gewisser Mann sich umdrehte, von seinem Wagen stieg und dir entgegenging? Nun wohl, du hast das Geld bekommen und wirst Kleider, Ölgärten, Weinberge, Schafe, Rinder, Sklaven und Sklavinnen dafür bekommen;
27aber der Aussatz Naemans wird dir und deinen Nachkommen immerdar anhangen! Da ging er von ihm hinaus, schneeweiß von Aussatz.

1NAAMÁN, general del ejército del rey de Siria, era gran varón delante de su señor, y en alta estima, porque por medio de él había dado Jehová salvamento á la Siria. Era este hombre valeroso en extremo, pero leproso.
2Y de Siria habían salido cuadrillas, y habían llevado cautiva de la tierra de Israel una muchacha; la cual sirviendo á la mujer de Naamán,
3Dijo á su señora: Si rogase mi señor al profeta que está en Samaria, él lo sanaría de su lepra.
4Y entrando Naamán á su señor, declaróselo, diciendo: Así y así ha dicho una muchacha que es de la tierra de Israel.
5Y díjole el rey de Siria: Anda, ve, y yo enviaré letras al rey de Israel. Partió pues él, llevando consigo diez talentos de plata, y seis mil piezas de oro, y diez mudas de vestidos.
6Tomó también letras para el rey de Israel, que decían así: Luego en llegando á ti estas letras, sabe por ellas que yo envío á ti mi siervo Naamán, para que lo sanes de su lepra.
7Y luego que el rey de Israel leyó las cartas, rasgó sus vestidos, y dijo: ¿Soy yo Dios, que mate y dé vida, para que éste envíe á mí á que sane un hombre de su lepra? Considerad ahora, y ved cómo busca ocasión contra mí.
8Y como Eliseo, varón de Dios oyó que el rey de Israel había rasgado sus vestidos, envió á decir al rey: ¿Por qué has rasgado tus vestidos? Venga ahora á mí, y sabrá que hay profeta en Israel.
9Y vino Naamán con sus caballos y con su carro, y paróse á las puertas de la casa de Eliseo.
10Entonces Eliseo le envió un mensajero, diciendo: Ve, y lávate siete veces en el Jordán, y tu carne se te restaurará, y serás limpio.
11Y Naamán se fué enojado, diciendo: He aquí yo decía para mí: Saldrá él luego, y estando en pie invocará el nombre de Jehová su Dios, y alzará su mano, y tocará el lugar, y sanará la lepra.
12Abana y Pharphar, ríos de Damasco, ¿no son mejores que todas las aguas de Israel? Si me lavare en ellos, ¿no seré también limpio? Y volvióse, y fuése enojado.
13Mas sus criados se llegaron á él, y habláronle, diciendo: Padre mío, si el profeta te mandara alguna gran cosa, ¿no la hicieras? ¿cuánto más, diciéndote: Lávate, y serás limpio?
14El entonces descendió, y zambullóse siete veces en el Jordán, conforme á la palabra del varón de Dios: y su carne se volvió como la carne de un niño, y fué limpio.
15Y volvió al varón de Dios, él y toda su compañía, y púsose delante de él, y dijo: He aquí ahora conozco que no hay Dios en toda la tierra, sino en Israel. Ruégote que recibas algún presente de tu siervo.
16Mas él dijo: Vive Jehová, delante del cual estoy, que no lo tomaré. E importunándole que tomase, él nunca quiso.
17Entonces Naamán dijo: Ruégote pues, ¿no se dará á tu siervo una carga de un par de acémilas de aquesta tierra? porque de aquí adelante tu siervo no sacrificará holocausto ni sacrificio á otros dioses, sino á Jehová.
18En esto perdone Jehová á tu siervo: que cuando mi señor entrare en el templo de Rimmón, y para adorar en él se apoyare sobre mi mano, si yo también me inclinare en el templo de Rimmón, si en el templo de Rimmón me inclino, Jehová perdone en esto á tu siervo.
19Y él le dijo: Vete en paz. Partióse pues de él, y caminó como el espacio de una milla.
20Entonces Giezi, criado de Eliseo el varón de Dios, dijo entre sí: He aquí mi señor estorbó á este Siro Naamán, no tomando de su mano las cosas que había traído. Vive Jehová, que correré yo tras él, y tomaré de él alguna cosa.
21Y siguió Giezi á Naamán: y como le vió Naamán que venía corriendo tras él, apeóse del carro para recibirle, y dijo: ¿Va bien?
22Y él dijo: Bien. Mi señor me envía á decir: He aquí vinieron á mí en esta hora del monte de Ephraim dos mancebos de los hijos de los profetas: ruégote que les des un talento de plata, y sendas mudas de vestidos.
23Y Naamán dijo: Ruégote que tomes dos talentos. Y él le constriñó, y ató dos talentos de plata en dos sacos, y dos mudas de vestidos, y púsolo á cuestas á dos de sus criados, que lo llevasen delante de él.
24Y llegado que hubo á un lugar secreto, él lo tomó de mano de ellos, y guardólo en casa: luego mandó á los hombres que se fuesen.
25Y él entró, y púsose delante de su señor. Y Eliseo le dijo: ¿De dónde vienes, Giezi? Y él dijo: Tu siervo no ha ido á ninguna parte.
26El entonces le dijo: ¿No fué también mi corazón, cuando el hombre volvió de su carro á recibirte? ¿es tiempo de tomar plata, y de tomar vestidos, olivares, viñas, ovejas, bueyes, siervos y siervas?
27La lepra de Naamán se te pegará á ti, y á tu simiente para siempre. Y salió de delante de él leproso, blanco como la nieve.
King James Version
1Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
2And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife.
3And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.
4And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.
5And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.
6And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.
7And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
8And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.
9So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
11But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
13And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
14Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
15And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.
16But he said, As the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.
17And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules’ burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.
18In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.
19And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.
20But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.
21So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?
22And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.
23And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him.
24And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.
25But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.
26And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?
27The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

1Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria; he was also a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.
2The Syrians had gone out in bands, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little girl, and she waited on Naaman’s wife.
3She said to her mistress, “I wish that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! Then he would heal him of his leprosy.”
4Someone went in and told his lord, saying, “The girl who is from the land of Israel said this.”
5The king of Syria said, “Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” He departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of clothing.
6He brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, “Now when this letter has come to you, behold, I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may heal him of his leprosy.”
7When the king of Israel had read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends to me to heal a man of his leprosy? But please consider and see how he seeks a quarrel against me.”
8It was so, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.”
9So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariots, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come again to you, and you shall be clean.”
11But Naaman was angry, and went away and said, “Behold, I thought, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper.’
12Aren’t Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.
13His servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had asked you do some great thing, wouldn’t you have done it? How much rather then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?”
14Then went he down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
15He returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him; and he said, “See now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel. Now therefore, please take a gift from your servant.”
16But he said, “As the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none.” He urged him to take it; but he refused.
17Naaman said, “If not, then, please let two mules’ load of earth be given to your servant; for your servant will from now on offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice to other gods, but to the LORD.
18In this thing may the LORD pardon your servant: when my master goes into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon. When I bow myself in the house of Rimmon, may the LORD pardon your servant in this thing.”
19He said to him, “Go in peace.” So he departed from him a little way.
20But Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, “Behold, my master has spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought. As the LORD lives, I will run after him, and take something from him.”
21So Gehazi followed after Naaman. When Naaman saw one running after him, he came down from the chariot to meet him, and said, “Is all well?”
22He said, “All is well. My master has sent me, saying, ‘Behold, even now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothing.’”
23Naaman said, “Be pleased to take two talents.” He urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of clothing, and laid them on two of his servants; and they carried them before him.
24When he came to the hill, he took them from their hand, and stored them in the house. Then he let the men go, and they departed.
25But he went in, and stood before his master. Elisha said to him, “Where did you come from, Gehazi?” He said, “Your servant went nowhere.”
26He said to him, “Didn’t my heart go with you when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves and vineyards, and sheep and cattle, and male servants and female servants?
27Therefore the leprosy of Naaman will cling to you and to your offspring forever.” He went out from his presence a leper, as white as snow.
