1Et Naaman, chef de l'armée du roi de Syrie, était un grand personnage à la cour de son maître et très considéré, car par lui l'Eternel avait donné la victoire à la Syrie ; et cet homme était fort et vaillant, mais lépreux.
2Et les Syriens, dans une incursion, avaient emmené du pays d'Israël une petite fille, qui fut au service de la femme de Naaman.
3Et elle dit à sa maîtresse : Ah ! si mon maître était près du prophète qui est à Samarie, il le délivrerait de sa lèpre.
4Et Naaman vint et le rapporta à son seigneur en disant : La fille qui est du pays d'Israël a dit telle et telle chose.
5Et le roi de Syrie dit : Vas-y, j'enverrai une lettre au roi d'Israël. Et Naaman partit, prenant avec lui dix talents d'argent, six mille sicles d'or et dix habits de fête.
6Et il apporta au roi d'Israël la lettre, qui disait : Et maintenant, quand cette lettre t'arrivera, voici je t'aurai envoyé Naaman, mon serviteur, pour que tu le délivres de sa lèpre.
7Et lorsque le roi d'Israël lut cette lettre, il déchira ses vêtements et dit : Suis-je Dieu, moi, pour faire mourir et pour faire vivre, que celui-ci envoie vers moi pour délivrer un homme de sa lèpre ? Oui, voyez-le bien et sachez-le : il me cherche querelle.
8Mais lorsque Elisée, l'homme de Dieu, eut entendu que le roi d'Israël avait déchiré ses vêtements, il envoya dire au roi d'Israël : Pourquoi as-tu déchiré tes vêtements ? Qu'il vienne donc vers moi et qu'il sache qu'il y a un prophète en Israël.
9Et Naaman vint avec ses chevaux et son char, et il s'arrêta à la porte de la maison d'Elisée.
10Et Elisée lui envoya un messager, en disant : Va et lave-toi sept fois dans le Jourdain, et ta chair redeviendra saine et tu seras net.
11Et Naaman se mit en colère et partit, disant : Voici, je me disais : Il ne manquera pas de sortir, il se tiendra là, il invoquera le nom de l'Eternel son Dieu, et il étendra sa main vers la place malade et il guérira la lèpre.
12L'Abana et le Parpar, fleuves de Damas, ne valent-ils pas mieux que toutes les eaux d'Israël ? Ne m'y laverais-je pas pour devenir net ? Et il retourna son char et partit en colère.
13Et ses serviteurs s'approchèrent et lui parlèrent et lui dirent : Mon père, si ce prophète t'eût parlé de quelque chose de difficile, ne le ferais-tu pas ? Combien plus quand il t'a dit : Lave-loi et tu seras net !
14Et il descendit et se plongea dans le Jourdain sept fois, selon la parole de l'homme de Dieu, et sa chair redevint comme la chair d'un petit enfant, et il fut net.
15Et Naaman retourna vers l'homme de Dieu, lui et toute sa suite, et vint et se présenta devant lui et dit : Voici, je reconnais qu'il n'y a point de Dieu sur toute la terre si ce n'est en Israël ; et maintenant, accepte un présent de ton serviteur.
16Et Elisée dit : L'Eternel, devant lequel je me tiens, est vivant : je n'accepterai point. Et Naaman insista auprès de lui pour qu'il acceptât, et il refusa.
17Et Naaman dit : Eh bien ! permets du moins qu'on donne à ton serviteur, de cette terre la charge de deux mulets ; car ton serviteur ne fera plus d'holocauste et de sacrifice qu'à l'Eternel.
18Que l'Eternel pardonne seulement ceci à ton serviteur : quand mon maître entre dans la maison de Rimmon pour s'y prosterner, et qu'il est appuyé sur mon bras et que je me prosterne dans la maison de Rimmon, quand je me prosternerai dans la maison de Rimmon, veuille l'Eternel pardonner cela à ton serviteur.
19Et Elisée lui dit : Va en paix ! Et quand Naaman fut parti d'auprès de lui et fut à une certaine distance,
20Guéhazi, le serviteur d'Elisée, l'homme de Dieu, se dit : Voici, mon maître a ménagé Naaman, ce Syrien, en n'acceptant pas de sa main ce qu'il avait apporté. L'Eternel est vivant, si je ne cours pas après lui et si je ne prends de lui quelque chose !
21Et Guéhazi courut après Naaman. Et Naaman vit quelqu'un qui courait après lui et, sautant de son char, à sa rencontre, il lui dit : Tout va-t-il bien ?
22Et Guéhazi dit : Tout va bien. Mon maître m'envoie te dire : Voici qu'à ce moment deux jeunes gens de la montagne d'Ephraïm, d'entre les fils des prophètes, me sont arrivés. Donne-leur donc, je te prie, un talent d'argent et deux habits de fête.
23Et Naaman dit : Tu voudras bien accepter deux talents. Et il le pressa et il serra deux talents d'argent dans deux sacs, et deux habits de fête, et les donna à deux de ses serviteurs qui les portèrent devant Guéhazi.
24Et, arrivé à la colline, il les prit de leur main, et les mit à couvert et renvoya ces hommes, et ils s'en retournèrent.
25Et il vint et se tint devant son maître ; et Elisée lui dit : D'où viens-tu, Guéhazi ? Et il dit : Ton serviteur n'est allé ni ici, ni là.
26Et Elisée lui dit : Mon esprit n'est-il pas allé, quand quelqu'un s'est détourné et est descendu de son char à ta rencontre ? Est-ce le moment de prendre de l'argent et de prendre des habits, des oliviers, des vignes, du petit et du gros bétail, des serviteurs et des servantes ?
27La lèpre de Naaman s'attachera à toi et à ta postérité pour toujours. Et Guéhazi sortit de devant Elisée, blanc de lèpre comme la neige.

1NAAMÁN, general del ejército del rey de Siria, era gran varón delante de su señor, y en alta estima, porque por medio de él había dado Jehová salvamento á la Siria. Era este hombre valeroso en extremo, pero leproso.
2Y de Siria habían salido cuadrillas, y habían llevado cautiva de la tierra de Israel una muchacha; la cual sirviendo á la mujer de Naamán,
3Dijo á su señora: Si rogase mi señor al profeta que está en Samaria, él lo sanaría de su lepra.
4Y entrando Naamán á su señor, declaróselo, diciendo: Así y así ha dicho una muchacha que es de la tierra de Israel.
5Y díjole el rey de Siria: Anda, ve, y yo enviaré letras al rey de Israel. Partió pues él, llevando consigo diez talentos de plata, y seis mil piezas de oro, y diez mudas de vestidos.
6Tomó también letras para el rey de Israel, que decían así: Luego en llegando á ti estas letras, sabe por ellas que yo envío á ti mi siervo Naamán, para que lo sanes de su lepra.
7Y luego que el rey de Israel leyó las cartas, rasgó sus vestidos, y dijo: ¿Soy yo Dios, que mate y dé vida, para que éste envíe á mí á que sane un hombre de su lepra? Considerad ahora, y ved cómo busca ocasión contra mí.
8Y como Eliseo, varón de Dios oyó que el rey de Israel había rasgado sus vestidos, envió á decir al rey: ¿Por qué has rasgado tus vestidos? Venga ahora á mí, y sabrá que hay profeta en Israel.
9Y vino Naamán con sus caballos y con su carro, y paróse á las puertas de la casa de Eliseo.
10Entonces Eliseo le envió un mensajero, diciendo: Ve, y lávate siete veces en el Jordán, y tu carne se te restaurará, y serás limpio.
11Y Naamán se fué enojado, diciendo: He aquí yo decía para mí: Saldrá él luego, y estando en pie invocará el nombre de Jehová su Dios, y alzará su mano, y tocará el lugar, y sanará la lepra.
12Abana y Pharphar, ríos de Damasco, ¿no son mejores que todas las aguas de Israel? Si me lavare en ellos, ¿no seré también limpio? Y volvióse, y fuése enojado.
13Mas sus criados se llegaron á él, y habláronle, diciendo: Padre mío, si el profeta te mandara alguna gran cosa, ¿no la hicieras? ¿cuánto más, diciéndote: Lávate, y serás limpio?
14El entonces descendió, y zambullóse siete veces en el Jordán, conforme á la palabra del varón de Dios: y su carne se volvió como la carne de un niño, y fué limpio.
15Y volvió al varón de Dios, él y toda su compañía, y púsose delante de él, y dijo: He aquí ahora conozco que no hay Dios en toda la tierra, sino en Israel. Ruégote que recibas algún presente de tu siervo.
16Mas él dijo: Vive Jehová, delante del cual estoy, que no lo tomaré. E importunándole que tomase, él nunca quiso.
17Entonces Naamán dijo: Ruégote pues, ¿no se dará á tu siervo una carga de un par de acémilas de aquesta tierra? porque de aquí adelante tu siervo no sacrificará holocausto ni sacrificio á otros dioses, sino á Jehová.
18En esto perdone Jehová á tu siervo: que cuando mi señor entrare en el templo de Rimmón, y para adorar en él se apoyare sobre mi mano, si yo también me inclinare en el templo de Rimmón, si en el templo de Rimmón me inclino, Jehová perdone en esto á tu siervo.
19Y él le dijo: Vete en paz. Partióse pues de él, y caminó como el espacio de una milla.
20Entonces Giezi, criado de Eliseo el varón de Dios, dijo entre sí: He aquí mi señor estorbó á este Siro Naamán, no tomando de su mano las cosas que había traído. Vive Jehová, que correré yo tras él, y tomaré de él alguna cosa.
21Y siguió Giezi á Naamán: y como le vió Naamán que venía corriendo tras él, apeóse del carro para recibirle, y dijo: ¿Va bien?
22Y él dijo: Bien. Mi señor me envía á decir: He aquí vinieron á mí en esta hora del monte de Ephraim dos mancebos de los hijos de los profetas: ruégote que les des un talento de plata, y sendas mudas de vestidos.
23Y Naamán dijo: Ruégote que tomes dos talentos. Y él le constriñó, y ató dos talentos de plata en dos sacos, y dos mudas de vestidos, y púsolo á cuestas á dos de sus criados, que lo llevasen delante de él.
24Y llegado que hubo á un lugar secreto, él lo tomó de mano de ellos, y guardólo en casa: luego mandó á los hombres que se fuesen.
25Y él entró, y púsose delante de su señor. Y Eliseo le dijo: ¿De dónde vienes, Giezi? Y él dijo: Tu siervo no ha ido á ninguna parte.
26El entonces le dijo: ¿No fué también mi corazón, cuando el hombre volvió de su carro á recibirte? ¿es tiempo de tomar plata, y de tomar vestidos, olivares, viñas, ovejas, bueyes, siervos y siervas?
27La lepra de Naamán se te pegará á ti, y á tu simiente para siempre. Y salió de delante de él leproso, blanco como la nieve.
King James Version
1Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
2And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife.
3And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.
4And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.
5And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.
6And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.
7And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
8And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.
9So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
11But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
13And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
14Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
15And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.
16But he said, As the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.
17And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules’ burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.
18In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.
19And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.
20But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.
21So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?
22And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.
23And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him.
24And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.
25But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.
26And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?
27The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

1Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria; he was also a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.
2The Syrians had gone out in bands, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little girl, and she waited on Naaman’s wife.
3She said to her mistress, “I wish that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! Then he would heal him of his leprosy.”
4Someone went in and told his lord, saying, “The girl who is from the land of Israel said this.”
5The king of Syria said, “Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” He departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of clothing.
6He brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, “Now when this letter has come to you, behold, I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may heal him of his leprosy.”
7When the king of Israel had read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends to me to heal a man of his leprosy? But please consider and see how he seeks a quarrel against me.”
8It was so, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.”
9So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariots, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come again to you, and you shall be clean.”
11But Naaman was angry, and went away and said, “Behold, I thought, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper.’
12Aren’t Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.
13His servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had asked you do some great thing, wouldn’t you have done it? How much rather then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?”
14Then went he down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
15He returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him; and he said, “See now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel. Now therefore, please take a gift from your servant.”
16But he said, “As the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none.” He urged him to take it; but he refused.
17Naaman said, “If not, then, please let two mules’ load of earth be given to your servant; for your servant will from now on offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice to other gods, but to the LORD.
18In this thing may the LORD pardon your servant: when my master goes into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon. When I bow myself in the house of Rimmon, may the LORD pardon your servant in this thing.”
19He said to him, “Go in peace.” So he departed from him a little way.
20But Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, “Behold, my master has spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought. As the LORD lives, I will run after him, and take something from him.”
21So Gehazi followed after Naaman. When Naaman saw one running after him, he came down from the chariot to meet him, and said, “Is all well?”
22He said, “All is well. My master has sent me, saying, ‘Behold, even now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothing.’”
23Naaman said, “Be pleased to take two talents.” He urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of clothing, and laid them on two of his servants; and they carried them before him.
24When he came to the hill, he took them from their hand, and stored them in the house. Then he let the men go, and they departed.
25But he went in, and stood before his master. Elisha said to him, “Where did you come from, Gehazi?” He said, “Your servant went nowhere.”
26He said to him, “Didn’t my heart go with you when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves and vineyards, and sheep and cattle, and male servants and female servants?
27Therefore the leprosy of Naaman will cling to you and to your offspring forever.” He went out from his presence a leper, as white as snow.
