1UM die Zeit aber, da der Herr den Elia im Wetter gen Himmel fahren liess, begab es sich, dass Elia und Elisa von Gilgal weggingen.
2Und Elia sprach zu Elisa: Bleibe doch hier; denn der Herr hat mich nach Bethel gesandt. Elisa aber erwiderte: So wahr der Herr lebt und so wahr du selber lebst, ich lasse dich nicht! So gingen sie hinab nach Bethel.
3Da kamen die Prophetenjünger, die in Bethel waren, zu Elisa heraus und sprachen zu ihm: Weisst du, dass der Herr heute deinen Meister über dein Haupt empor entrücken wird? Er antwortete: Ich weiss es auch; schweigt nur stille!
4Wieder sprach Elia zu ihm: Elisa, bleibe doch hier; denn der Herr hat mich nach Jericho gesandt. Er aber erwiderte: So wahr der Herr lebt und so wahr du selber lebst, ich lasse dich nicht! So kamen sie nach Jericho:
5Da traten die Prophetenjünger, die in Jericho waren, zu Elisa und sprachen zu ihm: Weisst du, dass der Herr heute deinen Meister über dein Haupt empor entrücken wird? Er antwortete: Ich weiss es auch; schweigt nur stille!
6Wieder sprach Elia zu ihm: Bleibe doch hier; denn der Herr hat mich an den Jordan gesandt. Er aber erwiderte: So wahr der Herr lebt und so wahr du selber lebst, ich lasse dich nicht! So gingen die beiden miteinander.
7Auch fünfzig von den Prophetenjüngern gingen mit, blieben aber abseits in einiger Entfernung stehen, während die beiden an den Jordan traten.
8Da nahm Elia seinen Mantel, wickelte ihn zusammen und schlug damit auf das Wasser; das teilte sich nach beiden Seiten, sodass die Zwei im Trockenen hindurchgehen konnten. (a) 1Kön 19:19
9Als sie hinüberkamen, sagte Elia zu Elisa: Erbitte dir, was ich für dich tun soll, ehe ich von dir genommen werde. Elisa sprach: So möge mir denn ein doppelter Anteil an deinem Geiste zufallen. (1) d.h. der Anteil des Erstgebornen, vgl. 5Mo 21:17.
10Er antwortete: Du hast Schweres erbeten. Wenn du siehst, wie ich von dir entrückt werde, so wird es dir zuteil werden; wo nicht, so wird es dir nicht zuteil werden.
11Während sie so im Gespräche immer weitergingen, da kam auf einmal ein feuriger Wagen mit feurigen Rossen und trennte die beiden. So fuhr Elia im Wetter gen Himmel,
12während Elisa es mitansah und schrie: Mein Vater, mein Vater! Wagen Israels und seine Reiter! Dann sah er ihn nicht mehr. Da fasste er seine Kleider und zerriss sie in zwei Stücke. (a) 2Kön 13:14
13Darnach hob er den Mantel auf, der Elia entfallen war, kehrte um und trat an das Gestade des Jordan.
14Und er nahm den Mantel, der Elia entfallen war, schlug damit auf das Wasser und sprach: Wo ist denn nun der Herr, der Gott des Elia? Wie Elisa so auf das Wasser schlug, teilte es sich nach beiden Seiten, sodass er hindurchgehen konnte.
15Als die Prophetenjünger aus Jericho das von drüben sahen, sprachen sie: Der Geist Elias ruht auf Elisa! Und sie kamen ihm entgegen, verneigten sich vor ihm zur Erde
16und sprachen zu ihm: Sieh, da sind unter deinen Knechten fünfzig rüstige Männer; lass sie doch gehen und deinen Meister suchen. Vielleicht hat ihn der Geist des Herrn entführt und auf irgendeinen Berg oder in irgendein Tal verschlagen. Er erwiderte: Schickt sie nicht!
17Da sie aber bis zum Überdrusse in ihn drangen, sagte er: So schickt sie! Und sie schickten fünfzig Männer; die suchten drei Tage lang, fanden ihn aber nicht.
18Als sie zu ihm zurückkamen, während er noch in Jericho weilte, sprach er zu ihnen: Habe ich euch nicht gesagt, ihr solltet nicht gehen?
19Und die Leute der Stadt sprachen zu Elisa: In dieser Stadt ist ja gut wohnen, wie unser Herr sieht; aber das Wasser ist ungesund, und das Land bleibt ohne Nachwuchs.
20Er sprach: Bringt mir eine neue Schale und tut Salz darein. Und sie brachten es ihm.
21Da ging er hinaus zu der Wasserquelle, warf das Salz hinein und sprach: So spricht der Herr: Ich mache dieses Wasser gesund; es soll davon künftig weder Tod noch Fehlgeburt kommen.
22So wurde das Wasser gesund bis auf den heutigen Tag nach dem Worte, das Elisa geredet hatte.
23Von dort ging er hinauf nach Bethel, und wie er so die Strasse hinaufging, kamen gerade kleine Knaben zur Stadt heraus; die verspotteten ihn und riefen ihm zu: Komm herauf, Kahlkopf! Komm herauf, Kahlkopf!
24Da wandte er sich um, und als er sie sah, fluchte er ihnen im Namen des Herrn, und es kamen zwei Bären aus dem Walde und zerrissen 42 von den Kindern.
25Von dort ging er nach dem Berge Karmel und kehrte von da nach Samaria zurück.

1Y ACONTECIÓ que, cuando quiso Jehová alzar á Elías en un torbellino al cielo, Elías venía con Eliseo de Gilgal.
2Y dijo Elías á Eliseo: Quédate ahora aquí, porque Jehová me ha enviado á Beth-el. Y Eliseo dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Descendieron pues á Beth-el.
3Y saliendo á Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Beth-el, dijéronle: ¿Sabes como Jehová quitará hoy á tu señor de tu cabeza? Y él dijo: Sí, yo lo sé; callad.
4Y Elías le volvió á decir: Eliseo, quédate aquí ahora, porque Jehová me ha enviado á Jericó. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Vinieron pues á Jericó.
5Y llegáronse á Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Jericó, y dijéronle: ¿Sabes cómo Jehová quitará hoy á tu señor de tu cabeza? Y él respondió: Sí, yo lo sé; callad.
6Y Elías le dijo: Ruégote que te quedes aquí, porque Jehová me ha enviado al Jordán. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Fueron pues ambos á dos.
7Y vinieron cincuenta varones de los hijos de los profetas, y paráronse enfrente á lo lejos: y ellos dos se pararon junto al Jordán.
8Tomando entonces Elías su manto, doblólo, é hirió las aguas, las cuales se apartaron á uno y á otro lado, y pasaron ambos en seco.
9Y como hubieron pasado, Elías dijo á Eliseo: Pide lo que quieres que haga por ti, antes que sea quitado de contigo. Y dijo Eliseo: Ruégote que las dos partes de tu espíritu sean sobre mí.
10Y él le dijo: Cosa difícil has pedido. Si me vieres cuando fuere quitado de ti, te será así hecho; mas si no, no.
11Y aconteció que, yendo ellos hablando, he aquí, un carro de fuego con caballos de fuego apartó á los dos: y Elías subió al cielo en un torbellino.
12Y viéndolo Eliseo, clamaba: ¡Padre mío, padre mío, carro de Israel y su gente de á caballo! Y nunca más le vió, y trabando de sus vestidos, rompiólos en dos partes.
13Alzó luego el manto de Elías que se le había caído, y volvió, y paróse á la orilla del Jordán.
14Y tomando el manto de Elías que se le había caído, hirió las aguas, y dijo: ¿Dónde está Jehová, el Dios de Elías? Y así que hubo del mismo modo herido las aguas, apartáronse á uno y á otro lado, y pasó Eliseo.
15Y viéndole los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Jericó de la otra parte, dijeron: El espíritu de Elías reposó sobre Eliseo. Y viniéronle á recibir, é inclináronse á él hasta la tierra.
16Y dijéronle: He aquí hay con tus siervos cincuenta varones fuertes: vayan ahora y busquen á tu señor; quizá lo ha levantado el espíritu de Jehová, y lo ha echado en algún monte ó en algún valle. Y él les dijo: No enviéis.
17Mas ellos le importunaron, hasta que avergonzándose dijo: Enviad. Entonces ellos enviaron cincuenta hombres, los cuales lo buscaron tres días, mas no lo hallaron.
18Y cuando volvieron á él, que se había quedado en Jericó, él les dijo: ¿No os dije yo que no fueseis?
19Y los hombres de la ciudad dijeron á Eliseo: He aquí el asiento de esta ciudad es bueno, como mi señor ve; mas las aguas son malas, y la tierra enferma.
20Entonces él dijo: Traedme una botija nueva, y poned en ella sal. Y trajéronsela.
21Y saliendo él á los manaderos de las aguas, echó dentro la sal, y dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Yo sané estas aguas, y no habrá más en ellas muerte ni enfermedad.
22Y fueron sanas las aguas hasta hoy, conforme á la palabra que habló Eliseo.
23Después subió de allí á Beth-el; y subiendo por el camino, salieron los muchachos de la ciudad, y se burlaban de él, diciendo: ¡Calvo, sube! ¡calvo, sube!
24Y mirando él atrás, viólos, y maldíjolos en el nombre de Jehová. Y salieron dos osos del monte, y despedazaron de ellos cuarenta y dos muchachos.
25De allí fué al monte de Carmelo, y de allí volvió á Samaria.

1And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el.
3And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
4And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.

8And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
9And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
11And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
13He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
15And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
16And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
17And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
18And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?
19And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.
20And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
21And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
22So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.
23And he went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
25And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.

1When the LORD was about to take Elijah up by a whirlwind into heaven, Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2Elijah said to Elisha, “Please wait here, for the LORD has sent me as far as Bethel.” Elisha said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.
3The sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?” He said, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”
4Elijah said to him, “Elisha, please wait here, for the LORD has sent me to Jericho.” He said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.
5The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?” He answered, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”
6Elijah said to him, “Please wait here, for the LORD has sent me to the Jordan.” He said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” Then they both went on.

9When they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”
10He said, “You have asked a hard thing. If you see me when I am taken from you, it will be so for you; but if not, it will not be so.”
11As they continued on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12Elisha saw it, and he cried, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” He saw him no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces.
13He also took up Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.
14He took Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said, “Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” When he also had struck the waters, they were divided apart, and Elisha went over.
15When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho facing him saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
16They said to him, “See now, there are with your servants fifty strong men. Please let them go and seek your master. Perhaps the LORD’s Spirit has taken him up, and put him on some mountain or into some valley.” He said, “Don’t send them.”
17When they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “Send them.” Therefore they sent fifty men; and they searched for three days, but didn’t find him.
18They came back to him while he stayed at Jericho; and he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t go’?”
19The men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land is barren.”
20He said, “Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” Then they brought it to him.
21He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, “The LORD says, ‘I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or barren wasteland.’”
22So the waters were healed to this day, according to Elisha’s word which he spoke.
23He went up from there to Bethel. As he was going up by the way, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldy! Go up, you baldy!”
24He looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the LORD’s name. Then two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of those youths.
25He went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
