1Joschijahu war acht Jahre alt, da er König ward, und regierte einunddreißig Jahre in Jerusalem; und der Name seiner Mutter war Jedidah, eine Tochter Adajahs, aus Bozkath.
2Und er tat, was recht war in den Augen Jehovahs, und wandelte in all dem Wege Davids, seines Vaters, und wich nicht ab zur Rechten noch zur Linken.
3Und es geschah im achtzehnten Jahre des Königs Joschijahu, daß der König den Schaphan, Sohn des Azaljahu, des Sohnes Meschullams, den Schreiber, in das Haus Jehovahs sandte und sprach:
4Gehe hinauf zu Chilkijahu, dem Hohenpriester, daß er das Silber zusammenzähle, das in das Haus Jehovahs eingebracht wurde, welches die Hüter der Schwelle vom Volke eingesammelt haben;
5Und sie sollen es geben in die Hand derer, die das Werk tun, die im Hause Jehovahs bestellt sind, und diese es denen geben, die das Werk tun am Hause Jehovahs, um die Risse am Hause auszubessern,
6Den Werkleuten und Bauleuten und Maurern, und um Holz und gehauene Steine zur Stärkung des Hauses zu kaufen.
7Nur soll man mit ihnen das Silber nicht verrechnen, das ihnen in die Hand gegeben wurde, denn sie tun es mit Treue.
8Und der Hohepriester Chilkijahu sprach zu Schaphan, dem Schreiber: Ich habe im Hause Jehovahs das Buch des Gesetzes gefunden, und Chilkijah gab das Buch dem Schaphan, und er las es.
9Und Schaphan, der Schreiber, kam zum König und brachte dem König das Wort zurück und sprach: Deine Knechte haben das Silber, das sich im Hause fand, ausgegossen, und es in die Hand derer gegeben, die das Werk tun, die im Hause Jehovahs bestellt sind.
10Und Schaphan, der Schreiber, sagte dem Könige an und sprach: Chilkijah, der Priester, hat mir ein Buch gegeben, und Schaphan las es vor dem König.
11Und es geschah, als der König die Worte des Buches des Gesetzes hörte, da zerriß er seine Kleider.
12Und der König gebot dem Chilkijahu, dem Priester, und Achikam, dem Sohne Schaphans, und Achbor, dem Sohne Michajahs, und Schaphan, dem Schreiber, und Asajah, dem Knechte des Königs, und sprach:
13Gehet hin und befragt Jehovah für mich und für das Volk und für ganz Judah über die Worte dieses Buches, das gefunden ward, denn groß ist der Grimm Jehovahs, der gegen uns sich entzündete, weil unsere Väter nicht hörten auf die Worte dieses Buches, auf daß sie täten nach allem, was für uns geschrieben ist.
14Und Chilkijahu, der Priester, und Achikam und Achbor und Schaphan und Asajah gingen zu Chuldah, der Prophetin, dem Weibe Schallums, dem Sohne Tikvahs, dem Sohne von Charchas, der die Kleider hütete. Und sie wohnte in Jerusalem im zweiten Stadtteil; und sie redeten zu ihr.
15Und sie sprach zu ihnen: So spricht Jehovah, der Gott Israels: Saget dem Manne, der euch zu mir sandte,
16So spricht Jehovah: Siehe, Ich bringe Böses über diesen Ort und über die, so darin wohnen, alle die Worte des Buches, die der König Judahs gelesen hat.
17Dafür, daß sie Mich verlassen und anderen Göttern geräuchert haben, so daß sie Mich reizten in allem Tun ihrer Hände, und Mein Grimm sich entzündet wider diesen Ort, und nicht erlöschen wird.
18Und zu dem Könige von Judah, der euch gesandt hat, den Jehovah zu befragen, sollt ihr also zu ihm sprechen: So spricht Jehovah, der Gott Israels: Über die Worte, die du hörtest:
19Weil dein Herz sich erweichte und du dich niederbeugtest vor Jehovah, da du hörtest, was Ich geredet habe über diesen Ort und über seine Bewohner, daß sie verwüstet und zum Fluch werden sollten, und deine Kleider zerrissen und geweint hast vor Mir, so habe auch Ich es gehört, spricht Jehovah.
20Darum siehe, Ich will dich sammeln zu deinen Vätern, und du sollst im Frieden ge- sammelt werden zu deinen Gräbern und deine Augen sollen nicht all das Böse sehen, das Ich über diesen Ort hereinbringe. Und sie brachten das Wort dem König wieder.

1CUANDO Josías comenzó á reinar era de ocho años, y reinó en Jerusalem treinta y un años. El nombre de su madre fué Idida hija de Adaía de Boscath.
2E hizo lo recto en ojos de Jehová, y anduvo en todo el camino de David su padre, sin apartarse á diestra ni á siniestra.
3Y á los dieciocho años del rey Josías, fué que envió el rey á Saphán hijo de Azalía, hijo de Mesullam, escriba, á la casa de Jehová, diciendo:
4Ve á Hilcías, sumo sacerdote: dile que recoja el dinero que se ha metido en la casa de Jehová, que han juntado del pueblo los guardianes de la puerta,
5Y que lo pongan en manos de los que hacen la obra, que tienen cargo de la casa de Jehová, y que lo entreguen á los que hacen la obra de la casa de Jehová, para reparar las aberturas de la casa:
6A los carpinteros, á los maestros y albañiles, para comprar madera y piedra de cantería para reparar la casa;
7Y que no se les cuente el dinero cuyo manejo se les confiare, porque ellos proceden con fidelidad.
8Entonces dijo el sumo sacerdote Hilcías á Saphán escriba: El libro de la ley he hallado en la casa de Jehová. E Hilcías dió el libro á Saphán, y leyólo.
9Viniendo luego Saphán escriba al rey, dió al rey la respuesta, y dijo: Tus siervos han juntado el dinero que se halló en el templo, y lo han entregado en poder de los que hacen la obra, que tienen cargo de la casa de Jehová.
10Asimismo Saphán escriba declaró al rey, diciendo: Hilcías el sacerdote me ha dado un libro. Y leyólo Saphán delante del rey.
11Y cuando el rey hubo oído las palabras del libro de la ley, rasgó sus vestidos.
12Luego mandó el rey á Hilcías el sacerdote, y á Ahicam hijo de Saphán, y á Achbor hijo de Michâía, y á Saphán escriba, y á Asaía siervo del rey, diciendo:
13Id, y preguntad á Jehová por mí, y por el pueblo, y por todo Judá, acerca de las palabras de este libro que se ha hallado: porque grande ira de Jehová es la que ha sido encendida contra nosotros, por cuanto nuestros padres no escucharon las palabras de este libro, para hacer conforme á todo lo que nos fué escrito.
14Entonces fué Hilcías el sacerdote, y Ahicam y Achbor y Saphán y Asaía, á Hulda profetisa, mujer de Sallum hijo de Ticva hijo de Araas, guarda de las vestiduras, la cual moraba en Jerusalem en la segunda parte de la ciudad, y hablaron con ella.
15Y ella les dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová el Dios de Israel: Decid al varón que os envió á mí:
16Así dijo Jehová: He aquí yo traigo mal sobre este lugar, y sobre los que en él moran, á saber, todas las palabras del libro que ha leído el rey de Judá:
17Por cuanto me dejaron á mí, y quemaron perfumes á dioses ajenos, provocándome á ira en toda obra de sus manos; y mi furor se ha encendido contra este lugar, y no se apagará.
18Mas al rey de Judá que os ha enviado para que preguntaseis á Jehová, diréis así: Así ha dicho Jehová el Dios de Israel: Por cuanto oíste las palabras del libro,
19Y tu corazón se enterneció, y te humillaste delante de Jehová, cuando oíste lo que yo he pronunciado contra este lugar y contra sus moradores, que vendrían á ser asolados y malditos, y rasgaste tus vestidos, y lloraste en mi presencia, también yo te he oído, dice Jehová.
20Por tanto, he aquí yo te recogeré con tus padres, y tú serás recogido á tu sepulcro en paz, y no verán tus ojos todo el mal que yo traigo sobre este lugar. Y ellos dieron al rey la respuesta.
King James Version
1Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.
2And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
3And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,
4Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:
5And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,
6Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.
7Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
8And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
9And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.
10And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
11And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.
12And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king’s, saying,
13Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
14So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.
15And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,
16Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read:
17Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
18But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;
19Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.
20Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.

2He did that which was right in the LORD’s eyes, and walked in all the ways of David his father, and didn’t turn away to the right hand or to the left.
3In the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the LORD’s house, saying,
4“Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may count the money which is brought into the LORD’s house, which the keepers of the threshold have gathered of the people.
5Let them deliver it into the hand of the workers who have the oversight of the LORD’s house; and let them give it to the workers who are in the LORD’s house, to repair the damage to the house,
6to the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the house.
7However, no accounting shall be asked of them for the money delivered into their hand, for they deal faithfully.”
8Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the book of the law in the LORD’s house.” Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
9Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, “Your servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hands of the workmen who have the oversight of the LORD’s house.”
10Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me.” Then Shaphan read it before the king.
11When the king had heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes.
12The king commanded Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor the son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying,
13“Go inquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is the LORD’s wrath that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that which is written concerning us.”
14So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the second quarter); and they talked with her.
15She said to them, “The LORD the God of Israel says, ‘Tell the man who sent you to me,
16“The LORD says, ‘Behold, I will bring evil on this place and on its inhabitants, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read.
17Because they have forsaken me and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and it will not be quenched.’”
18But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, tell him, “The LORD the God of Israel says, ‘Concerning the words which you have heard,
19because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you,’ says the LORD.
20‘Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.’”’” So they brought this message back to the king.
