1En ce temps-là, Ezéchias fut atteint d'une maladie mortelle. Le prophète Isaïe, fils d'Amoç, lui rendit visite et lui dit: "Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Donne tes ordres à ta maison, car tu vas mourir; tu ne te rétabliras pas."
2Ezéchias tourna la face vers le mur et implora l'Eternel en ces termes:
3"De grâce, Seigneur, daigne te souvenir que j'ai marché devant toi fidèlement et d'un cœur sincère, et que j'ai fait ce qui te plaît!" Puis il éclata en longs sanglots.
4Isaïe n'avait pas encore quitté la cour du milieu quand l'Eternel s'adressa de nouveau à lui:
5"Retourne pour dire à Ezéchias, le souverain de mon peuple: Ainsi parle l'Eternel, le Dieu de David, ton père: J'ai entendu ta prière et vu tes larmes, je te guérirai, et dès le troisième jour tu monteras dans la maison de Dieu.
6Je prolongerai ta vie de quinze ans, je te délivrerai ainsi que cette ville de la main du roi d'Assyrie, et j'étendrai ma protection sur cette ville, à cause de moi et à cause de mon serviteur David."
7Isaïe dit: "Qu'on prenne un gâteau de figues." On le prit, on l'appliqua sur l'ulcère, et Ezéchias se rétablit.
8Ezéchias dit à Isaïe: "A quel signe reconnaîtrai-je que l'Eternel me guérira et que je pourrai monter le troisième jour dans la maison de Dieu?"
9Isaïe répondit: "Voici le signe que l'Eternel te propose pour te prouver qu'il réalisera la promesse qu'il a faite: Faut-il que l'ombre avance de dix degrés ou recule de dix degrés?
10C'est chose facile, répliqua Ezéchias, que l'ombre descende de dix degrés; qu'elle revienne plutôt en arrière de dix degrés!"
11Le prophète Isaïe invoqua alors l'Eternel, qui ramena l'ombre de dix degrés en arrière sur le cadran où elle était descendue, sur le cadran d'Achaz.
12Berodac-Baladan, fils de Baladan, roi de la Babylonie, ayant appris en ce temps-là qu'Ezéchias avait été malade, lui envoya des lettres et un présent.
13Ezéchias écouta avec complaisance les messagers et leur fit voir en entier la maison où il conservait ses objets de prix, argent, or, aromates et huiles précieuses, ainsi que son arsenal et toute ce que contenaient ses trésors; il n'y eut rien dans son palais et dans toutes ses possessions qu'il ne leur montrât.
14Le prophète Isaïe, rendant visite au roi Ezéchias, lui demanda: "Qu'ont dit ces hommes et d'où viennent-ils pour te voir? Ils viennent d'une région lointaine, de la Babylonie," répliqua Ezéchias.
15"Qu'ont-ils vu dans ta demeure?" demanda encore Isaïe. "Ils ont vu tout ce qui se trouve dans mon palais, repartit Ezéchias; mes trésors ne contiennent pas un objet que je ne leur aie montré."
16Isaïe dit alors à Ezéchias: "Ecoute ce que dit le Seigneur:
17Il viendra un temps où l'on emportera en Babylonie tout ce que renferme ton palais avec tes trésors amassés par tes aïeux; il n'en restera rien, dit l'Eternel.
18On emmènera aussi une partie de tes fils qui te devront le jour, de ceux que tu engendreras, pour les employer comme fonctionnaires au palais du roi d'Assyrie."
19Ezéchias dit alors à Isaïe: "Bienveillante est la sentence de l'Eternel que tu m'as transmise." Et il ajouta: "Au moins, la paix et l'ordre régneront tant que je vivrai!"
20Pour les autres faits concernant Ezéchias, tous ses exploits, la piscine et l'aqueduc qu'il a fait établir pour amener l'eau dans la ville, tout cela, est consigné dans le livre des annales des rois de Juda.
21Ezéchias, s'étant endormi avec ses pères, eut pour successeur son fils Manassé.

1EN aquellos días cayó Ezechîas enfermo de muerte, y vino á él Isaías profeta hijo de Amós, y díjole: Jehová dice así: Dispón de tu casa, porque has de morir, y no vivirás.
2Entonces volvió él su rostro á la pared, y oró á Jehová, y dijo:
3Ruégote, oh Jehová, ruégote hagas memoria de que he andado delante de ti en verdad é íntegro corazón, y que he hecho las cosas que te agradan. Y lloró Ezechîas con gran lloro.
4Y antes que Isaías saliese hasta la mitad del patio, fué palabra de Jehová á Isaías, diciendo:
5Vuelve, y di á Ezechîas, príncipe de mi pueblo: Así dice Jehová, el Dios de David tu padre: Yo he oído tu oración, y he visto tus lágrimas: he aquí yo te sano; al tercer día subirás á la casa de Jehová.
6Y añadiré á tus días quince años, y te libraré á ti y á esta ciudad de mano del rey de Asiria; y ampararé esta ciudad por amor de mí, y por amor de David mi siervo.
7Y dijo Isaías: Tomad masa de higos. Y tomándola, pusieron sobre la llaga, y sanó.
8Y Ezechîas había dicho á Isaías: ¿Qué señal tendré de que Jehová me sanará, y que subiré á la casa de Jehová al tercer día?
9Y respondió Isaías: Esta señal tendrás de Jehová, de que hará Jehová esto que ha dicho: ¿Avanzará la sombra diez grados, ó retrocederá diez grados?
10Y Ezechîas respondió: Fácil cosa es que la sombra decline diez grados: pero, que la sombra vuelva atrás diez grados.
11Entonces el profeta Isaías clamó á Jehová; é hizo volver la sombra por los grados que había descendido en el reloj de Achâz, diez grados atrás.
12En aquel tiempo Berodach-baladán hijo de Baladán, rey de Babilonia, envió letras y presentes á Ezechîas, porque había oído que Ezechîas había caído enfermo.
13Y Ezechîas los oyó, y mostróles toda la casa de las cosas preciosas, plata, oro, y especiería, y preciosos ungüentos; y la casa de sus armas, y todo lo que había en sus tesoros: ninguna cosa quedó que Ezechîas no les mostrase, así en su casa como en todo su señorío.
14Entonces el profeta Isaías vino al rey Ezechîas, y díjole: ¿Qué dijeron aquellos varones, y de dónde vinieron á ti? Y Ezechîas le respondió: De lejanas tierras han venido, de Babilonia.
15Y él le volvió á decir: ¿Qué vieron en tu casa? Y Ezechîas respondió: Vieron todo lo que había en mi casa; nada quedó en mis tesoros que no les mostrase.
16Entonces Isaías dijo á Ezechîas: Oye palabra de Jehová:
17He aquí vienen días, en que todo lo que está en tu casa, y todo lo que tus padres han atesorado hasta hoy, será llevado á Babilonia, sin quedar nada, dijo Jehová.
18Y de tus hijos que saldrán de ti, que habrás engendrado, tomarán; y serán eunucos en el palacio del rey de Babilonia.
19Entonces Ezechîas dijo á Isaías: La palabra de Jehová que has hablado, es buena. Después dijo: ¿Mas no habrá paz y verdad en mis días?
20Lo demás de los hechos de Ezechîas, y todo su vigor, y cómo hizo el estanque, y el conducto, y metió las aguas en la ciudad, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
21Y durmió Ezechîas con sus padres, y reinó en su lugar Manasés su hijo.

1In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
2Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,
3I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
4And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
5Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
6And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
7And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
8And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day?
9And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
10And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
11And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.
12At that time Berodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
13And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
14Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
15And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
16And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
17Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
18And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
19Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?
20And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
21And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

1In those days Hezekiah was sick and dying. Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “The LORD says, ‘Set your house in order; for you will die, and not live.’”
2Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying,
3“Remember now, LORD, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4Before Isaiah had gone out into the middle part of the city, the LORD’s word came to him, saying,
5“Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, ‘The LORD, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to the LORD’s house.
6I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.”’”
7Isaiah said, “Take a cake of figs.” They took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
8Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What will be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I will go up to the LORD’s house the third day?”
9Isaiah said, “This will be the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has spoken: should the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?”
10Hezekiah answered, “It is a light thing for the shadow to go forward ten steps. No, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.”
11Isaiah the prophet cried to the LORD; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.
12At that time Berodach Baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
13Hezekiah listened to them, and showed them all the storehouse of his precious things—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, or in all his dominion, that Hezekiah didn’t show them.
14Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say? From where did they come to you?” Hezekiah said, “They have come from a far country, even from Babylon.”
15He said, “What have they seen in your house?” Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.”
16Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the LORD’s word.
17‘Behold, the days come that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store to this day, will be carried to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says the LORD.
18‘They will take away some of your sons who will issue from you, whom you will father; and they will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”
19Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The LORD’s word which you have spoken is good.” He said moreover, “Isn’t it so, if peace and truth will be in my days?”
