Sucedió que cuando el rey Ezequías escuchó su informe, él rasgó su ropa, se cubrió en tela de saco y fue a la casa del SEÑOR.

And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
They said to him, “Hezekiah says, ‘Today is a day of trouble, of rebuke, and of rejection; for the children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to deliver them.
Puede ser que el SEÑOR tu Dios escuchará todas las palabras de este comandante principal, a quien el rey de Asiria su señor ha enviado a desafiar al Dios vivo, y reprenderá las palabras que el SEÑOR tu Dios ha escuchado. Ahora levanta tu oración por el remanente que aún está aquí.'"
Quizá oirá Jehová tu Dios todas las palabras de Rabsaces, al cual el rey de los Asirios su señor ha enviado para injuriar al Dios vivo, y á vituperar con palabras, las cuales Jehová tu Dios ha oído: por tanto, eleva oración por las reliquias que aun se hallan.
It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.
It may be the LORD your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which the LORD your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’”
Así que los siervos del rey Ezequías vinieron a Isaías,

e Isaías les dijo: "Di a tu señor: 'Así dice el SEÑOR: "No tengas temor por las palabras que has escuchado, con las cuales los sirvientes del rey de Asiria me han insultado a mí.
E Isaías les respondió: Así diréis á vuestro señor: Así ha dicho Jehová; No temas por las palabras que has oído, con las cuales me han blasfemado los siervos del rey de Asiria.
And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

Mira, yo pondré un espíritu en él, y él escuchará cierto reporte y volverá a su propia tierra. Yo haré que él caiga por la espada en su propia tierra."

Luego el comandante principal regresó y encontró al rey de Asiria peleando contra Libna, porque él había escuchado que el rey había salido de Laquis.

"Di a Ezequías rey de Judá: 'No dejes que tu Dios en quien confías te engañe diciendo: "Jerusalén no será entregada en la mano del rey de Asiria."
Así diréis á Ezechîas rey de Judá: No te engañe tu Dios en quien tú confías, para decir: Jerusalem no será entregada en mano del rey de Asiria.
Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
“Tell Hezekiah king of Judah this: ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

Ezequías recibió esta carta de los mensajeros y la leyó. Luego, él subió a la casa del SEÑOR y la extendió ante Él.

And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

Luego Ezequías oró ante el SEÑOR y dijo: "SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, Tú que te sientas sobre el querubín, Tú solo eres Dios sobre todos los reinos de la tierra. Tú hiciste los cielos y la tierra.

LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.

Verdaderamente, SEÑOR, los reyes de Asiria han destruido las naciones y sus tierras.
Es verdad, oh Jehová, que los reyes de Asiria han destruído las gentes y sus tierras;
Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,
Truly, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands,
Ellos han puesto sus dioses al fuego, porque ellos no eran dioses sino el trabajo de mano de hombres, sólo madera y piedra. Así que los asirios los han destruido.
Y que pusieron en el fuego á sus dioses, por cuanto ellos no eran dioses, sino obra de manos de hombres, madera ó piedra, y así los destruyeron.

Luego Isaías hijo de Amoz envió un mensaje a Ezequías diciendo: "Así dice el SEÑOR, el Dios de Israel: 'Porque lo que has orado a Mí en relación a Senaquerib rey de Asiria, Yo te he escuchado.
Entonces Isaías hijo de Amós envió á decir á Ezechîas: Así ha dicho Jehová, Dios de Israel: Lo que me rogaste acerca de Sennachêrib rey de Asiria, he oído.
Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.
Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “The LORD, the God of Israel, says ‘You have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, and I have heard you.
Esta es la palabra que el SEÑOR ha hablado sobre él: "La hija virgen de Sión te menosprecia y se ríe en desprecio. La hija de Jerusalén sacude su cabeza tras de ti.
Esta es la palabra que Jehová ha hablado contra él: Hate menospreciado, hate escarnecido la virgen hija de Sión; ha movido su cabeza detrás de ti la hija de Jerusalem.
This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
This is the word that the LORD has spoken concerning him: ‘The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and ridiculed you. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.
¿A quién has desafiado e insultado? ¿Y en contra de quien has exaltado tu voz y alzado tus ojos con orgullo? ¡En contra del Santo de Israel!
¿A quién has injuriado y á quién has blasfemado? ¿y contra quién has hablado alto, y has alzado en alto tus ojos? Contra el Santo de Israel.
Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

Por medio de tus mensajeros has desafiado al Señor, y has dicho: 'Con la multitud de mis carros yo he subido a las alturas de las montañas, a las elevaciones más altas del Líbano. Yo cortaré los altos cedros y los árboles escogidos de ciprés ahí. Yo entraré a sus partes más lejanas, su bosque más fructífero.
Por mano de tus mensajeros has proferido injuria contra el Señor, y has dicho: Con la multitud de mis carros he subido á las cumbres de los montes, á las cuestas del Líbano; y cortaré sus altos cedros, sus hayas escogidas; y entraré á la morada de su término, al monte de su Carmel.
By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.
By your messengers, you have defied the Lord, and have said, “With the multitude of my chariots, I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon, and I will cut down its tall cedars and its choice cypress trees; and I will enter into his farthest lodging place, the forest of his fruitful field.

¿No has escuchado que yo lo determiné hace mucho tiempo, y lo resolví en tiempos antiguos? Ahora Yo lo estoy llevando a cabo. Tú estás aquí para reducir ciudades impenetrables a montones de ruinas.
¿Nunca has oído que mucho tiempo ha yo lo hice, y de días antiguos lo he formado? Y ahora lo he hecho venir, y fué para desolación de ciudades fuertes en montones de ruinas.
Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.
Haven’t you heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? Now I have brought it to pass, that it should be yours to lay waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps.
Sus habitantes, de poca fuerza, están destrozados y avergonzados. Ellos son plantas en el campo, hierba verde, la hierba en el techo o en el campo, quemados antes de haber crecido.
Y sus moradores, cortos de manos, quebrantados y confusos, fueron cual hierba del campo, como legumbre verde, y heno de los tejados, que antes que venga á madurez es seco.
Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

Pero yo conozco tu sentar, tu salida, tu entrada, y tu furia en mi contra.

But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

Por cuanto te has airado contra mí, y tu estruendo ha subido á mis oídos, yo por tanto pondré mi anzuelo en tus narices, y mi bocado en tus labios, y te haré volver por el camino por donde viniste.
Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

Esta será la señal para ti: Este año comerás lo que crece silvestre, y en el segundo año lo que crece de eso. Pero en el tercer año tú debes plantar y cosechar, plantar viñedos y comer su fruto.
Y esto te será por señal Ezechîas: Este año comerás lo que nacerá de suyo, y el segundo año lo que nacerá de suyo; y el tercer año haréis sementera, y segaréis, y plantaréis viñas, y comeréis el fruto de ellas.
And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.
“This will be the sign to you: This year, you will eat that which grows of itself, and in the second year that which springs from that; and in the third year sow and reap, and plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
El remanente de la casa de Judá que sobreviva otra vez echará raiz y dará su fruto.
Y lo que hubiere escapado, lo que habrá quedado de la casa de Judá, tornará á echar raíz abajo, y hará fruto arriba.
And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

Porque de Jerusalén un remanente saldrá, del Monte Sión sobrevivientes vendrán. El celo del SEÑOR de los ejércitos hará esto.

For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
For out of Jerusalem a remnant will go out, and out of Mount Zion those who shall escape. The LORD’s zeal will perform this.
Por tanto el SEÑOR dice esto sobre el rey de Asiria: "Él no vendrá a esta ciudad ni disparará una flecha aquí. Tampoco él vendrá ante ella con escudo o construirá rampa de asedio en contra de ella.
Por tanto, Jehová dice así del rey de Asiria: No entrará en esta ciudad, ni echará saeta en ella; ni vendrá delante de ella escudo, ni será echado contra ella baluarte.
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
“Therefore the LORD says concerning the king of Assyria, ‘He will not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there. He will not come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.
El camino por el cual él llegó será el mismo por donde él se irá; él no entrará en esta ciudad. Esta es la declaración del SEÑOR."
Por el camino que vino se volverá, y no entrará en esta ciudad, dice Jehová.
By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.
He will return the same way that he came, and he will not come to this city,’ says the LORD.
Porque Yo voy a defender esta ciudad y rescatarla por mi propio bien y por el bien de mi siervo David.'"
Porque yo ampararé á esta ciudad para salvarla, por amor de mí, y por amor de David mi siervo.
For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

Sucedió aquella noche que el ángel del SEÑOR salió y atacó el campamento de asirios, matando a 185, 000 soldados. Cuando los hombres se levantaron temprano en la mañana, cuerpos muertos estaban tendidos por todas partes.
Y aconteció que la misma noche salió el ángel de Jehová, é hirió en el campo de los Asirios ciento ochenta y cinco mil; y como se levantaron por la mañana, he aquí los cuerpos de los muertos.
And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
That night, the LORD’s angel went out and struck one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.
Así que Senaquerib rey de Asiria dejó a Israel y se fue a casa y permaneció en Nínive.
Entonces Sennachêrib, rey de Asiria se partió, y se fué y tornó á Nínive, donde se estuvo.
So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

Más tarde, mientras él estaba adorando en la casa de Nisroc su dios, sus hijos Adramelec y Sarezer lo mataron con la espada. Luego ellos se escaparon a la tierra de Ararat. Luego Esar Hadón su hijo se convirtió en rey en su lugar.
Y aconteció que, estando él adorando en el templo de Nisroch su dios, Adramelech y Saresar sus hijos lo hirieron á cuchillo; y huyéronse á tierra de Ararat. Y reinó en su lugar Esar-hadón su hijo.
And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esar-haddon his son reigned in his stead.
As he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. Esar Haddon his son reigned in his place.
