1IM dritten Jahre Hoseas, des Sohnes Elas, des Königs von Israel, wurde Hiskia, der Sohn des Ahas, König von Juda. (a) 2Ch 29:1 2
225 Jahre alt war er, als er König wurde, und 29 Jahre regierte er zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hiess Abi, die Tochter Sacharjas.
3Er tat, was dem Herrn wohlgefiel, ganz wie sein Ahnherr David getan hatte.
4Er ist es, der die Höhenheiligtümer abgeschafft, die Malsteine zertrümmert, die Aschera umgehauen und die eherne Schlange, die Mose gemacht hatte, zerschlagen hat; denn bis zu dieser Zeit hatten die Israeliten ihr geopfert. 5Auf den Herrn, den Gott Israels, vertraute er, sodass unter allen Königen von Juda keiner seinesgleichen war, weder nach ihm noch vor ihm.
6Er hing dem Herrn an und liess nicht von ihm; er hielt die Gebote, die der Herr dem Mose gegeben hatte.
7Und der Herr war mit ihm; in allem, was er unternahm, hatte er Glück. Er wurde auch abtrünnig vom König von Assyrien und blieb ihm nicht untertan.
8Er schlug die Philister bis nach Gaza und verheerte das ganze Stadtgebiet, Wachttürme sowohl wie feste Plätze.
9Im vierten Jahre des Königs Hiskia - das ist das siebente Jahr Hoseas, des Sohnes Elas, des Königs von Israel - zog Salmanassar, der König von Assyrien, wider Samaria heran, belagerte es
10und nahm es nach drei Jahren ein; im sechsten Jahre Hiskias - das ist das neunte Jahr Hoseas, des Königs von Israel - wurde Samaria genommen.
11Und der König von Assyrien führte Israel nach Assyrien in die Verbannung und siedelte sie in Halah und am Habor, dem Flusse Gosans, und in den Bergen der Meder an,
12weil sie dem Herrn, ihrem Gotte, nicht gehorcht und seinen Bund übertreten hatten, alle die Gebote, die Mose, der Knecht des Herrn, gegeben; sie hatten nicht darauf gehört und nicht darnach getan.
13IM vierzehnten Jahre des Königs Hiskia aber zog Sanherib, der König von Assyrien, wider alle festen Städte Judas heran und nahm sie ein.
14Da sandte Hiskia, der König von Juda, an den König von Assyrien nach Lachis und liess ihm sagen: Ich habe mich vergangen. Ziehe wieder ab von mir; was du mir auflegst, will ich tragen. Da legte der König von Assyrien dem König Hiskia von Juda eine Abgabe von dreihundert Talenten Silber und dreissig Talenten Gold auf. (1) d.h. etwa 18 000 Kilogramm Silber und 1 800 Kilogramm Gold.
15Und Hiskia gab alles Silber her, das sich im Tempel des Herrn und in den Schatzkammern des königlichen Palastes vorfand. (a) 2Kön 16:8; 1Kön 15:18
16Zu jener Zeit liess Hiskia von den Türen am Tempel des Herrn und von den Pfeilern, die er selbst hatte überziehen lassen, (das Gold) losmachen und gab es dem König von Assyrien.
17Und der König von Assyrien sandte den Tharthan, den Rabsaris und den Rabsake mit grosser Heeresmacht von Lachis aus zum König Hiskia nach Jerusalem. Die zogen hinauf, und als sie nach Jerusalem kamen, stellten sie sich bei der Wasserleitung des obern Teiches an der Walkerfeldstrasse auf
18und liessen den König rufen. Da gingen zu ihnen hinaus der Palastvorsteher Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkias, der Schreiber Sebna und der Kanzler Joah, der Sohn Asaphs.
19Und der Rabsake sprach zu ihnen: Sagt doch dem Hiskia: So spricht der Grosskönig, der König von Assyrien: Was hegst du doch da für eine Zuversicht?
20Meinst du, blosse Worte seien schon Rat und Macht zum Kampfe? Nun, auf wen verlässest du dich, dass du von mir abtrünnig geworden bist?
21Siehe, du verlässest dich auf diesen geknickten Rohrstab, auf Ägypten, der einem jeden, der sich darauf stützt, in die Hand dringt und sie durchbohrt. So macht es der Pharao, der König von Ägypten, mit allen, die sich auf ihn verlassen. (a) Hes 29:6 7
22Wenn ihr aber zu mir sagen wolltet: "Auf den Herrn, unsern Gott, verlassen wir uns" - ist das nicht derselbe, dessen Höhenheiligtümer und Altäre Hiskia abgeschafft hat, indem er Juda und Jerusalem gebot: "Vor diesem Altar hier in Jerusalem sollt ihr anbeten"?
23Nun wohlan, wette doch mit meinem Herrn, dem König von Assyrien: ich will dir zweitausend Pferde geben; lass sehen, ob du die Reiter dazu stellen kannst!
24Wie wolltest du denn einen einzigen der geringsten Knechte meines Herrn zurücktreiben? Und du verlässest dich auf Ägypten um der Wagen und Reiter willen?
25Nun, bin ich etwa ohne den Willen eures Gottes wider diesen Ort heraufgezogen, ihn zu verderben? Euer Gott hat mich geheissen: Ziehe hinauf wider dieses Land und verderbe es!
26Da sprachen Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkias, Sebna und Joah zum Rabsake: Rede doch mit deinen Knechten aramäisch, wir verstehen es; und rede nicht jüdisch mit uns vor den Ohren des Volkes, das auf der Mauer ist.
27Aber der Rabsake antwortete ihnen: Hat mich denn mein Herr zu deinem Herrn und zu dir gesandt, solche Worte zu reden, und nicht vielmehr zu den Männern, die auf der Mauer sitzen und bei euch ihren Kot essen und ihren Harn trinken müssen?
28Und der Rabsake trat herzu und rief mit lauter Stimme auf jüdisch: Höret das Wort des Grosskönigs, des Königs von Assyrien!
29So spricht der König: Lasst euch von Hiskia nicht betören; denn er kann euch nicht aus meiner Hand erretten.
30Lasst euch von Hiskia nicht auf euren Gott vertrösten, wenn er sagt: Gewiss wird der Herr uns retten; diese Stadt wird nicht in die Hand des Königs von Assyrien gegeben werden.
31Hört nicht auf Hiskia; denn so spricht der König von Assyrien: Macht mit mir Frieden und ergebt euch mir, so sollt ihr ein jeder von seinem Weinstock und von seinem Feigenbaum essen und ein jeder das Wasser aus seinem Brunnen trinken,
32bis ich komme und euch hole in ein Land, das eurem Lande gleich ist, ein Land voll Korn und Wein, ein Land voll Brot und Weinberge, ein Land voll Ölbäume und Honig. Ihr sollt am Leben bleiben und nicht sterben. Hört also nicht auf Hiskia; denn er verführt euch, wenn er spricht: Der Herr wird uns retten.
33Haben etwa die Götter der Völker ein jeder sein Land aus der Hand des Königs von Assyrien errettet?
34Wo sind die Götter von Hamath und Arpad? Wo sind die Götter von Sepharwaim, Hena und Iwa? Und wo sind die Götter des Landes Samaria? Haben sie etwa Samaria aus meiner Hand errettet?
35Wo ist einer unter allen Göttern der Länder, der sein Land aus meiner Hand errettet hätte, dass euer Gott Jerusalem aus meiner Hand erretten sollte?
36Die Leute aber schwiegen stille und antworteten ihm nichts; denn das war der Befehl des Königs: Antwortet ihm nicht!
37Da kamen der Palastvorsteher Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkias, der Schreiber Sebna und der Kanzler Joah, der Sohn Asaphs, mit zerrissenen Kleidern zu Hiskia und meldeten ihm, was der Rabsake gesagt hatte.

1EN el tercer año de Oseas hijo de Ela rey de Israel, comenzó á reinar Ezechîas hijo de Achâz rey de Judá.
2Cuando comenzó á reinar era de veinticinco años, y reinó en Jerusalem veintinueve años. El nombre de su madre fué Abi hija de Zachârías.
3Hizo lo recto en ojos de Jehová, conforme á todas las cosas que había hecho David su padre.
4El quitó los altos, y quebró las imágenes, y taló los bosques, é hizo pedazos la serpiente de bronce que había hecho Moisés, porque hasta entonces le quemaban perfumes los hijos de Israel; y llamóle por nombre Nehustán.
5En Jehová Dios de Israel puso su esperanza: después ni antes de él no hubo otro como él en todos los reyes de Judá.
6Porque se llegó á Jehová, y no se apartó de él, sino que guardó los mandamientos que Jehová prescribió á Moisés.
7Y Jehová fué con él; y en todas las cosas á que salía prosperaba. El se rebeló contra el rey de Asiria, y no le sirvió.
8Hirió también á los Filisteos hasta Gaza y sus términos, desde las torres de las atalayas hasta la ciudad fortalecida.
9En el cuarto año del rey Ezechîas, que era el año séptimo de Oseas hijo de Ela rey de Israel, subió Salmanasar rey de los Asirios contra Samaria, y cercóla.
10Y tomáronla al cabo de tres años; esto es, en el sexto año de Ezechîas, el cual era el año nono de Oseas rey de Israel, fué Samaria tomada.
11Y el rey de Asiria traspuso á Israel á Asiria, y púsolos en Hala, y en Habor, junto al río de Gozán, y en las ciudades de los Medos:
12Por cuanto no habían atendido la voz de Jehová su Dios, antes habían quebrantado su pacto; y todas las cosas que Moisés siervo de Jehová había mandado, ni las habían escuchado, ni puesto por obra.
13Y á los catorce años del rey Ezechîas, subió Sennachêrib rey de Asiria contra todas las ciudades fuertes de Judá, y tomólas.
14Entonces Ezechîas rey de Judá envió á decir al rey de Asiria en Lachîs: Yo he pecado: vuélvete de mí, y llevaré todo lo que me impusieres. Y el rey de Asiria impuso á Ezechîas rey de Judá trescientos talentos de plata, y treinta talentos de oro.
15Dió por tanto Ezechîas toda la plata que fué hallada en la casa de Jehová, y en los tesoros de la casa real.
16Entonces descompuso Ezechîas las puertas del templo de Jehová, y los quiciales que el mismo rey Ezechîas había cubierto de oro, y diólo al rey de Asiria.
17Después el rey de Asiria envió al rey Ezechîas, desde Lachîs contra Jerusalem, á Thartán y á Rabsaris y á Rabsaces, con un grande ejército: y subieron, y vinieron á Jerusalem. Y habiendo subido, vinieron y pararon junto al conducto del estanque de arriba, que es en el camino de la heredad del batanero.
18Llamaron luego al rey, y salió á ellos Eliacim hijo de Hilcías, que era mayordomo, y Sebna escriba, y Joah hijo de Asaph, canciller.
19Y díjoles Rabsaces: Decid ahora á Ezechîas: Así dice el gran rey de Asiria: ¿Qué confianza es esta en que tú estás?
20Dices, (por cierto palabras de labios): Consejo tengo y esfuerzo para la guerra. Mas ¿en qué confías, que te has rebelado contra mí?
21He aquí tú confías ahora en este bordón de caña cascada, en Egipto, en el que si alguno se apoyare, entrarále por la mano, y se le pasará. Tal es Faraón rey de Egipto, para todos los que en él confían.
22Y si me decís: Nosotros confiamos en Jehová nuestro Dios: ¿no es aquél cuyos altos y altares ha quitado Ezechîas, y ha dicho á Judá y á Jerusalem: Delante de este altar adoraréis en Jerusalem?
23Por tanto, ahora yo te ruego que des rehenes á mi señor, el rey de Asiria, y yo te daré dos mil caballos, si tú pudieres dar jinetes para ellos.
24¿Cómo pues harás volver el rostro de un capitán el menor de los siervos de mi señor, aunque estés confiado en Egipto por sus carros y su gente de á caballo?
25Además, ¿he venido yo ahora sin Jehová á este lugar, para destruirlo? Jehová me ha dicho: Sube á esta tierra, y destrúyela.
26Entonces dijo Eliacim hijo de Hilcías, y Sebna y Joah, á Rabsaces: Ruégote que hables á tus siervos siriaco, porque nosotros lo entendemos, y no hables con nosotros judaico á oídos del pueblo que está sobre el muro.
27Y Rabsaces les dijo: ¿Hame enviado mi señor á ti y á tu señor para decir estas palabras, y no antes á los hombres que están sobre el muro, para comer su estiércol, y beber el agua de sus pies con vosotros?
28Paróse luego Rabsaces, y clamó á gran voz en judaico, y habló, diciendo: Oid la palabra del gran rey, el rey de Asiria.
29Así ha dicho el rey: No os engañe Ezechîas, porque no os podrá librar de mi mano.
30Y no os haga Ezechîas confiar en Jehová, diciendo: De cierto nos librará Jehová, y esta ciudad no será entregada en mano del rey de Asiria.
31No oigáis á Ezechîas, porque así dice el rey de Asiria: Haced conmigo paz, y salid á mí, y cada uno comerá de su vid, y de su higuera, y cada uno beberá las aguas de su pozo;
32Hasta que yo venga, y os lleve á una tierra como la vuestra, tierra de grano y de vino, tierra de pan y de viñas, tierra de olivas, de aceite, y de miel; y viviréis, y no moriréis. No oigáis á Ezechîas, porque os engaña cuando dice: Jehová nos librará.
33¿Acaso alguno de los dioses de las gentes ha librado su tierra de la mano del rey de Asiria?
34¿Dónde está el dios de Hamath, y de Arphad? ¿dónde el dios de Sepharvaim, de Hena, y de Hiva? ¿pudieron éstos librar á Samaria de mi mano?
35¿Qué dios de todos los dioses de las provincias ha librado á su provincia de mi mano, para que libre Jehová de mi mano á Jerusalem?
36Y el pueblo calló, que no le respondieron palabra: porque había mandamiento del rey, el cual había dicho: No le respondáis.
37Entonces Eliacim hijo de Hilcías, que era mayordomo, y Sebna el escriba, y Joah hijo de Asaph, canciller, vinieron á Ezechîas, rotos sus vestidos, y recitáronle las palabras de Rabsaces.

1Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
2Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.
3And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.
4He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
5He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.
6For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
7And the LORD was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
8He smote the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
9And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
10And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
11And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:
12Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.
13Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.
14And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
15And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house.
16At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
17And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rab-shakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.
18And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
19And Rab-shakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
20Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
21Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
22But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
23Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
24How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
25Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
26Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rab-shakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews’ language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
27But Rab-shakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?
28Then Rab-shakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:
29Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:
30Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
31Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:
32Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.
33Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
34Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?
35Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?
36But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
37Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rab-shakeh.

1Now in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
2He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
3He did that which was right in the LORD’s eyes, according to all that David his father had done.
4He removed the high places, broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah. He also broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, because in those days the children of Israel burned incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.
5He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel, so that after him was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him.
6For he joined with the LORD. He didn’t depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
7The LORD was with him. Wherever he went, he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria, and didn’t serve him.
8He struck the Philistines to Gaza and its borders, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.

14Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, “I have offended you. Withdraw from me. That which you put on me, I will bear.” The king of Assyria appointed to Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
15Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the LORD’s house and in the treasures of the king’s house.
16At that time, Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the LORD’s temple, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
17The king of Assyria sent Tartan, Rabsaris, and Rabshakeh from Lachish to King Hezekiah with a great army to Jerusalem. They went up and came to Jerusalem. When they had come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.

19Rabshakeh said to them, “Say now to Hezekiah, ‘The great king, the king of Assyria, says, “What confidence is this in which you trust?
20You say (but they are but vain words), ‘There is counsel and strength for war.’ Now on whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?
21Now, behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt. If a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust on him.
22But if you tell me, ‘We trust in the LORD our God,’ isn’t that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem’?
23Now therefore, please give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses if you are able on your part to set riders on them.

27But Rabshakeh said to them, “Has my master sent me to your master and to you, to speak these words? Hasn’t he sent me to the men who sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own urine with you?”
28Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spoke, saying, “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.
29The king says, ‘Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you out of his hand.
30Don’t let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, “The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”
31Don’t listen to Hezekiah.’ For the king of Assyria says, ‘Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and everyone of you eat from his own vine, and everyone from his own fig tree, and everyone drink water from his own cistern;
32until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and of honey, that you may live and not die. Don’t listen to Hezekiah when he persuades you, saying, “The LORD will deliver us.”
33Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
