1Im zweiten Jahre des Joachazsohnes Joas, des Königs von Israel, ward des Judakönigs Joas Sohn, Amasja, König.
2Er war fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und fünfundzwanzig Jahre regierte er in Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Joaddan und war aus Jerusalem.
3Er tat, was dem Herrn gefiel, aber nicht so wie sein Ahn David. Er tat ganz so, wie sein Vater Joas getan.
4Nur die Höhen waren nicht beseitigt. Das Volk opferte und räucherte noch immer auf den Höhen.
5Als die Herrschaft fest in seiner Hand war, ließ er seine Diener töten, die den König, seinen Vater, erschlagen hatten.
6Aber die Söhne der Mörder tötete er nicht, wie im Buche der Lehre Mosis geschrieben steht und was der Herr geboten: "Väter sollen nicht wegen der Kinder getötet werden, noch Söhne wegen der Väter; sondern jeder werde nur wegen seines eigenen Verbrechens getötet."
7Er schlug die 10.000 Edomiter im Salztal und nahm Sela im Sturm ein. Er nannte es Jokteel bis auf diesen Tag.
8Damals sandte Amasja Boten an Joas, des Joachaz Sohn und Jehus Enkel, den König von Israel, und ließ sagen: "Komm! Wir wollen uns ins Angesicht sehen!"
9Da ließ Israels König Joas dem Judakönig Amasja dies entbieten: "Die Distel auf dem Libanon hat zur Libanonzeder gesandt und sagen lassen: 'Gib deine Tochter meinem Sohn zum Weibe!' Aber das Wild auf dem Libanon lief darüber und zertrat die Distel.
10Weil du Edom geschlagen, überhebt sich gewaltig dein Sinn. Schone deine Ehre und bleib zu Haus! Warum forderst du das Unglück heraus, daß du fällst, du und Juda mit dir?"
11Aber Amasja hörte nicht darauf. So rückte Israels König Joas heran, und sie maßen sich, er und Amasja, Judas König, zu Betsemes in Juda.
12Da ward Juda von Israel geschlagen, und sie flohen, jeder in sein Zelt.
13Den Judakönig Amasja aber, Sohn des Joas und Achazjas Enkel, nahm Israels König Joas zu Betsemes gefangen und brachte ihn nach Jerusalem. Er legte auch in Jerusalems Mauer Breschen vom Ephraimtor bis zum Ecktor, 400 Ellen lang.
14Dann nahm er alles Gold und Silber, alle Geräte im Hause des Herrn und in des Königshauses Schatzkammern und die Geiseln; hierauf kehrte er nach Samaria zurück.
15Ist nicht der Rest der Geschichte des Joas und was er sonst getan, sowie seine Tapferkeit, und wie er mit Amasja, Judas König, kämpfte, im Geschichtsbuche der Könige Israels aufgezeichnet?
16Als sich Joas zu seinen Vätern legte, ward er in Samaria bei den Königen Israels begraben, und sein Sohn Jeroboam ward an seiner Statt König.
17Judas König Amasja, des Joas Sohn, lebte nach dem Tode des Königs von Israel, Joas, des Joachazsohnes, noch fünfzehn Jahre.
18Ist nicht der Rest der Geschichte Amasjas im Geschichtsbuche der Könige von Juda aufgezeichnet?
19Sie verschworen sich aber zu Jerusalem gegen ihn, und er floh nach Lakis. Da schickten sie ihm nach Lakis Leute nach und töteten ihn dort
20Dann überführten sie ihn auf Rossen, und er ward in Jerusalem bei seinen Vätern in der Davidsstadt begraben.
21Da nahm das ganze Volk Juda den Azarja, der sechzehn Jahre alt war, und machte ihn zum König an seines Vaters Amasja Statt.
22Er baute Elat auf und brachte es wieder an Juda, nachdem sich der König zu seinen Vätern gelegt hatte.
23Im fünfzehnten Jahre des Judakönigs Amasja, des Joassohnes, ward Jeroboam, des Israelkönigs Joas Sohn, König in Samaria für einundvierzig Jahre.
24Er tat, was dem Herrn mißfiel. Er ließ nicht von des Nebatsohnes Jeroboam Sünden, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte.
25Er brachte das Gebiet Israels von der Gegend um Hamat bis zum Meer der Wüste zurück, nach dem Worte des Herrn, des Gottes Israels, das er durch seinen Diener, den Propheten Jonas, Amittais Sohn, aus Gat Chepher gesprochen hatte.
26Denn der Herr sah, daß Israels Not gar bitter war, völlig eingeschlossen und verlassen war es, und niemand half Israel.
27Der Herr aber dachte nicht daran, Israels Namen unter dem Himmel zu tilgen. Und so half er ihnen durch den Joassohn Jeroboam.
28Ist nicht der Rest der Geschichte Jeroboams und alles, was er sonst getan, sowie seine Tapferkeit, wie er Krieg geführt und Damaskus nebst Hamat durch Israel für Juda zurückgebracht hat, im Geschichtsbuche der Könige Israels aufgezeichnet?
29Als sich Jeroboam zu seinen Vätern legte, ward er zu Samaria bei Israels Königen begraben, und sein Sohn Sakarja ward an seiner Statt König.

1EN el año segundo de Joas hijo de Joachâz rey de Israel, comenzó á reinar Amasías hijo de Joas rey de Judá.
2Cuando comenzó á reinar era de veinticinco años, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalem: el nombre de su madre fué Joaddan, de Jerusalem.
3Y él hizo lo recto en ojos de Jehová, aunque no como David su padre: hizo conforme á todas las cosas que había hecho Joas su padre.
4Con todo eso los altos no fueron quitados; que el pueblo aun sacrificaba y quemaba perfumes en los altos.
5Y luego que el reino fué confirmado en su mano, hirió á sus siervos, los que habían muerto al rey su padre.
6Mas no mató á los hijos de los que le mataron, conforme á lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, donde Jehová mandó, diciendo: No matarán á los padres por los hijos, ni á los hijos por los padres: mas cada uno morirá por su pecado.
7Este hirió asimismo diez mil Idumeos en el valle de las Salinas, y tomó á Sela por guerra, y llamóla Jocteel, hasta hoy.
8Entonces Amasías envió embajadores á Joas, hijo de Joachâz hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, y veámonos de rostro.
9Y Joas rey de Israel envió á Amasías rey de Judá esta respuesta: El cardillo que está en el Líbano envió á decir al cedro que está en el Líbano: Da tu hija por mujer á mi hijo. Y pasaron las bestias fieras que están en el Líbano, y hollaron el cardillo.
10Ciertamente has herido á Edom, y tu corazón te ha envanecido: gloríate pues, mas estáte en tu casa. ¿Y por qué te entrometerás en un mal, para que caigas tú, y Judá contigo?
11Mas Amasías no dió oídos; por lo que subió Joas rey de Israel, y viéronse de rostro él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Beth-semes, que es de Judá.
12Y Judá cayó delante de Israel, y huyeron cada uno á sus estancias.
13Además Joas rey de Israel tomó á Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joas hijo de Ochôzías, en Beth-semes: y vino á Jerusalem, y rompió el muro de Jerusalem desde la puerta de Ephraim hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.
14Y tomó todo el oro y la plata, y todos los vasos que fueron hallados en la casa de Jehová, y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los hijos en rehenes, y volvióse á Samaria.
15Lo demás de los hechos de Joas que ejecutó, y sus hazañas, y cómo peleó contra Amasías rey de Judá, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?
16Y durmió Joas con sus padres, y fué sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Jeroboam su hijo.
17Y Amasías hijo de Joas rey de Judá, vivió después de la muerte de Joas hijo de Joachâz rey de Israel, quince años.
18Lo demás de los hechos de Amasías, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
19E hicieron conspiración contra él en Jerusalem, y él huyó á Lachîs; mas enviaron tras él á Lachîs, y allá lo mataron.
20Trajéronlo luego sobre caballos, y sepultáronlo en Jerusalem con sus padres, en la ciudad de David.
21Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó á Azarías, que era de diez y seis años, é hiciéronlo rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.
22Edificó él á Elath, y la restituyó á Judá, después que el rey durmió con sus padres.
23El año quince de Amasías hijo de Joas rey de Judá, comenzó á reinar Jeroboam hijo de Joas sobre Israel en Samaria; y reinó cuarenta y un años.
24E hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, y no se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar á Israel.
25El restituyó los términos de Israel desde la entrada de Amath hasta la mar de la llanura, conforme á la palabra de Jehová Dios de Israel, la cual había él hablado por su siervo Jonás hijo de Amittai, profeta que fué de Gath-hepher.
26Por cuanto Jehová miró la muy amarga aflicción de Israel; que no había guardado ni desamparado, ni quien diese ayuda á Israel;
27Y Jehová no había determinado raer el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo: por tanto, los salvó por mano de Jeroboam hijo de Joas.
28Y lo demás de los hechos de Jeroboam, y todas las cosas que hizo, y su valentía, y todas las guerras que hizo, y cómo restituyó á Judá en Israel á Damasco y á Hamath, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

1In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.
2He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
3And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.
4Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
5And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.
6But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
7He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.
8Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
9And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
10Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
11But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
12And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.
13And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
14And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
15Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
18And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
19Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
20And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
22He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
23In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.
24And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
25He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gath-hepher.
26For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.
27And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
29And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.

4However the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.
5As soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, he killed his servants who had slain the king his father,
6but the children of the murderers he didn’t put to death, according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”

11But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
12Judah was defeated by Israel; and each man fled to his tent.
13Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh and came to Jerusalem, then broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

27The LORD didn’t say that he would blot out the name of Israel from under the sky; but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
