1Und des HERRN Zorn ergrimmete über Israel und gab sie unter die Hand Hasaels, des Königs zu Syrien, und Benhadads, des Sohns Hasaels, ihr Leben lang.
2Aber Joahas bat des HERRN Angesicht. Und der HERR erhörete ihn; denn er sah den Jammer Israels an, wie sie der König zu Syrien drängete.
3Und der HERR gab Israel einen Heiland, der sie aus der Gewalt der Syrer führete, daß die Kinder Israel in ihren Hütten wohneten, wie vorhin.
4Doch ließen sie nicht von der Sünde des Hauses Jerobeams, der Israel sündigen machte, sondern wandelten drinnen. Auch blieb stehen der Hain zu Samaria.
5Denn es war des Volks Joahas nicht mehr überblieben denn fünfzig Reiter, zehn Wagen und zehntausend Fußvolks. Denn der König zu Syrien hatte sie umgebracht und hatte sie gemacht wie Drescherstaub.
6Was aber mehr von Joahas zu sagen ist, und alles, was er getan hat, und seine Macht, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.
7Und Joahas entschlief mit seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn zu Samaria. Und sein Sohn Joas ward König an seiner Statt.
8Im siebenunddreißigsten Jahr Joas des Königs Judas, ward Joas, der Sohn Joahas König über Israel zu Samaria sechzehn Jahre.
9Und tat, das dem HERRN übel gefiel, und ließ nicht von allen Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohns Nebats, der Israel sündigen machte, sondern wandelte drinnen.
10Was aber mehr von Joas zu sagen ist, und was er getan hat, und seine Macht, wie er mit Amazia, dem Könige Judas, gestritten hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.
11Und Joas entschlief mit seinen Vätern, und Jerobeam saß auf seinem Stuhl. Joas aber ward begraben zu Samaria bei den Königen Israels.
12Elisa aber ward krank, daran er auch starb. Und Joas, der König Israels, kam zu ihm hinab und weinete vor ihm und sprach: Mein Vater, mein Vater, Wagen Israels, und seine Reiter!
13Elisa aber sprach zu ihm: Nimm den Bogen und Pfeile! Und da er den Bogen und die Pfeile nahm,
14sprach er zum Könige Israels: Spanne mit deiner Hand den Bogen! Und er spannete mit seiner Hand. Und Elisa legte seine Hand auf des Königs Hand
15und sprach: Tue das Fenster auf gegen Morgen! Und er tat es auf. Und Elisa sprach: Schieße! Und er schoß. Er aber sprach: Ein Pfeil des Heils vom HERRN, ein Pfeil des Heils wider die Syrer; und du wirst die Syrer schlagen zu Aphek, bis sie aufgerieben sind.
16Und er sprach: Nimm die Pfeile! Und da er sie nahm, sprach er zum Könige Israels: Schlage die Erde! Und er schlug dreimal und stund stille.
17Da ward der Mann Gottes zornig auf ihn und sprach: Hättest du fünf- oder sechsmal geschlagen, so würdest du die Syrer geschlagen haben, bis sie aufgerieben wären; nun aber wirst du sie dreimal schlagen.
18Da aber Elisa gestorben war, und man ihn begraben hatte, fielen die Kriegsleute der Moabiter ins Land desselben Jahres.
19Und es begab sich, daß sie einen Mann begruben; da sie aber die Kriegsleute sahen, warfen sie den Mann in Elisas Grab. Und da er hin kam und die Gebeine Elisas anrührete, ward er lebendig und trat auf seine Füße.
20Also zwang nun Hasael, der König zu Syrien, Israel, solange Joahas lebte.
21Aber der HERR tat ihnen Gnade und erbarmete sich ihrer und wandte sich zu ihnen um seines Bundes willen mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob; und wollte sie nicht verderben, verwarf sie auch nicht von seinem Angesicht bis auf diese Stunde.
22Und Hasael, der König zu Syrien, starb, und sein Sohn Benhadad ward König an seiner Statt.
23Joas aber kehrete um und nahm die Städte aus der Hand Benhadads, des Sohns Hasaels, die er aus der Hand seines Vaters Joahas genommen hatte mit Streit. Dreimal schlug ihn Joas und brachte die Städte Israels wieder.
24Im andern Jahr Joas, des Sohns Joahas, des Königs Israels, ward Ahazia König, der Sohn Joas, des Königs Judas.
25Fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt war er, da er König ward, und regierete neunundzwanzig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Joadan von Jerusalem.

1EN el año veintitrés de Joas hijo de Ochôzías, rey de Judá, comenzó á reinar Joachâz hijo de Jehú sobre Israel en Samaria; y reinó diecisiete años.
2E hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, y siguió los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar á Israel; y no se apartó de ellos.
3Y encendióse el furor de Jehová contra Israel, y entrególos en mano de Hazael rey de Siria, y en mano de Ben-adad hijo de Hazael, por largo tiempo.
4Mas Joachâz oró á la faz de Jehová, y Jehová lo oyó: porque miró la aflicción de Israel, pues el rey de Siria los afligía.
5(Y dió Jehová salvador á Israel, y salieron de bajo la mano de los Siros; y habitaron los hijos de Israel en sus estancias, como antes.
6Con todo eso no se apartaron de los pecados de la casa de Jeroboam, el que hizo pecar á Israel: en ellos anduvieron; y también el bosque permaneció en Samaria.)
7Porque no le había quedado gente á Joachâz, sino cincuenta hombres de á caballo, y diez carros, y diez mil hombres de á pié; pues el rey de Siria los había destruído, y los había puesto como polvo para hollar.
8Lo demás de los hechos de Joachâz, y todo lo que hizo, y sus valentías, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?
9Y durmió Joachâz con sus padres, y sepultáronlo en Samaria: y reinó en su lugar Joas su hijo.
10El año treinta y siete de Joas rey de Judá, comenzó á reinar Joas hijo de Joachâz sobre Israel en Samaria; y reinó dieciséis años.

15Y díjole Eliseo: Toma un arco y unas saetas. Tomóse él entonces un arco y unas saetas.
16Y dijo Eliseo al rey de Israel: Pon tu mano sobre el arco. Y puso él su mano sobre el arco. Entonces puso Eliseo sus manos sobre las manos del rey,
17Y dijo: Abre la ventana de hacia el oriente. Y como él la abrió dijo Eliseo: Tira. Y tirando él, dijo Eliseo: Saeta de salud de Jehová, y saeta de salud contra Siria: porque herirás á los Siros en Aphec, hasta consumirlos.
18Y tornóle á decir: Toma las saetas. Y luego que el rey de Israel las hubo tomado, díjole: Hiere la tierra. Y él hirió tres veces, y cesó.
19Entonces el varón de Dios, enojado con él, le dijo: A herir cinco ó seis veces, herirías á Siria, hasta no quedar ninguno: empero ahora tres veces herirás á Siria.
20Y murió Eliseo, y sepultáronlo. Entrado el año vinieron partidas de Moabitas á la tierra.
21Y aconteció que al sepultar unos un hombre, súbitamente vieron una partida, y arrojaron al hombre en el sepulcro de Eliseo: y cuando llegó á tocar el muerto los huesos de Eliseo, revivió, y levantóse sobre sus pies.
22Hazael pues, rey de Siria, afligió á Israel todo el tiempo de Joachâz.
23Mas Jehová tuvo misericordia de ellos, y compadecióse de ellos, y mirólos, por amor de su pacto con Abraham, Isaac y Jacob; y no quiso destruirlos ni echarlos de delante de sí hasta ahora.
24Y murió Hazael rey de Siria, y reinó en su lugar Ben-adad su hijo.
25Y volvió Joas hijo de Joachâz, y tomó de mano de Ben-adad hijo de Hazael, las ciudades que él había tomado de mano de Joachâz su padre en guerra. Tres veces lo batió Joas, y restituyó las ciudades á Israel.

1In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.
2And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.
3And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Hazael, all their days.
4And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.
5(And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.
6Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)
7Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.
8Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
9And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his stead.
10In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.
11And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin: but he walked therein.
12And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
13And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
15And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.
16And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king’s hands.
17And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD’s deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.
18And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.
19And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.
20And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
21And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
22But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
23And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.
24So Hazael king of Syria died; and Ben-hadad his son reigned in his stead.
25And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.

1In the twenty-third year of Joash the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria for seventeen years.
2He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. He didn’t depart from it.
3The LORD’s anger burned against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, continually.
4Jehoahaz begged the LORD, and the LORD listened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them.
5(The LORD gave Israel a savior, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel lived in their tents as before.
6Nevertheless they didn’t depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin, but walked in them; and the Asherah also remained in Samaria.)

19The man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times. Then you would have struck Syria until you had consumed it, but now you will strike Syria just three times.”
20Elisha died, and they buried him. Now the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
21As they were burying a man, behold, they saw a band of raiders; and they threw the man into Elisha’s tomb. As soon as the man touched Elisha’s bones, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
22Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
23But the LORD was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and favored them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them and he didn’t cast them from his presence as yet.
24Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his place.
25Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Joash struck him three times, and recovered the cities of Israel.
