Il seniore ad Eletta signora, e a' figliuoli di lei, i quali io amo nella verità, e non io solo, ma anche tutti coloro, i quali conoscono la verità,
EL anciano á la señora elegida y á sus hijos, á los cuales yo amo en verdad; y no yo solo, sino también todos los que han conocido la verdad,
The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
The elder, to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not I only, but also all those who know the truth,
A causa della verità, che è in noi, e con noi sarà in eterno.
Por la verdad que está en nosotros, y será perpetuamente con nosotros:
For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

Sia con voi la grazia, la misericordia, e la pace da Dio Padre, e da Cristo Gesù Figliuolo del Padre, nella verità, e nella carità.

E adesso ti prego, o signora, non come scrivendoti un nuovo comandamento, ma quello, che avemmo da principio, che ci amiamo l'un l'altro.
Y ahora te ruego, señora, no como escribiéndote un nuevo mandamiento, sino aquel que nosotros hemos tenido desde el principio, que nos amemos unos á otros.
And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

E la carità è questa, che camminiamo secondo i comandamenti di lui. Imperocché questo è il comandamento, affinchè, conforme udiste da principio, voi lo mettiate in' pratica:
Y este es amor, que andemos según sus mandamientos. Este es el mandamiento: Que andéis en él, como vosotros habéis oído desde el principio.
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.
Conciossiachè molti impostori sono usciti pel mondo, i quali non confessano, che Gesù Cristo sia venuto nella carne: questo tale è un impostore, ed un anticristo.
Porque muchos engañadores son entrados en el mundo, los cuales no confiesan que Jesucristo ha venido en carne. Este tal el engañador es, y el anticristo.
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don’t confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Antichrist.
Badate a voi stessi, che non facciate getto di quello, che avete operato: ma ne riceviate piena mercede.
Mirad por vosotros mismos, porque no perdamos las cosas que hemos obrado, sino que recibamos galardón cumplido.
Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Watch yourselves, that we don’t lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward.
Chiunque recede, e non istà fermo nella dottrina di Cristo, non ha Dio: chi sta fermo nella dottrina, questi ha il padre, ed il Figliuolo.
Cualquiera que se rebela, y no persevera en la doctrina de Cristo, no tiene á Dios: el que persevera en la doctrina de Cristo, el tal tiene al Padre y al Hijo.
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
Whoever transgresses and doesn’t remain in the teaching of Christ doesn’t have God. He who remains in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
Se alcuno viene da voi, e non porta questa dottrina, nol ricevete in casa, e noi salutate.
Si alguno viene á vosotros, y no trae esta doctrina, no lo recibáis en casa, ni le digáis: ¡bienvenido!
If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
If anyone comes to you and doesn’t bring this teaching, don’t receive him into your house, and don’t welcome him,
Imperocché chi lo saluta, partecipa delle opere di lui malvagge.
Porque el que le dice bienvenido, comunica con sus malas obras.
For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
for he who welcomes him participates in his evil deeds.
Molte cose avendo da scrivere, non ho voluto (farlo) con carta, e inchiostro: ma spero di venir da voi, e dì parlarvi a faccia a faccia: affinchè il vostro gaudio sia compiuto.
Aunque tengo muchas cosas que escribiros, no he querido comunicarlas por medio de papel y tinta; mas espero ir á vosotros, y hablar boca á boca, para que nuestro gozo sea cumplido.
Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

Ti salutano i figliuoli di tua sorella Eletta. Loda Gaio, perciò e costante nella verità, e con amore accoglie i pellegrini; gli parla delle calunnie, e dell'inumanità di Dio trefé, e facendo onorevol menzione di Demetrio, soggiunge, che presto anderà a veder Gaio.
