1Entendo que, na realidade, nem preciso lhes falar acerca do auxílio ao povo de Deus.
2Pois eu sei como vocês estão dispostos para fazê-lo e eu mostrei o meu orgulho aos macedônios de que vocês da Acaia há um ano estavam prontos a enviar uma oferta. De fato, foi esse entusiasmo de vocês que impulsionou muitos deles a começarem a ajudar.
3Entretanto, estou enviando esses homens só para ter certeza de que vocês estão realmente prontos, como eu disse a eles que estariam, com seu dinheiro já todo coletado: não desejo que desta vez pareça que eu estava errado, ao orgulhar-me de vocês.
4Eu ficaria grandemente envergonhado — e vocês também — se alguns destes macedônios fossem comigo e percebessem que vocês ainda não estão prontos, mesmo depois de tudo o que lhes contei!
5Portanto, pedi a esses outros irmãos que chegassem aí na minha frente, a fim de cuidar que já esteja em mãos e à nossa espera a contribuição que vocês prometeram. Eu quero que ela seja verdadeiramente uma oferta generosa, e não que pareça que foi dada por obrigação.
6Lembrem-se, porém, disto: se vocês derem pouco, receberão pouco. O lavrador que planta só algumas sementes terá uma colheita pequena, mas se plantar muito, colherá muito.
7Cada um deve resolver por si mesmo quanto vai dar. Não forcem ninguém a dar mais do que realmente deseja, pois Deus ama os que dão com alegria.
8Deus pode ajeitar isso para vocês, dando-lhes tudo o que necessitam — e mais ainda — para que não só haja o suficiente para suas próprias necessidades, mas também sobre em abundância para darem prazerosamente aos outros.
9Como dizem as Escrituras: “O homem piedoso dá generosamente aos pobres. As boas obras dele permanecerão para sempre”.
10Porque Deus, que dá a semente para o lavrador plantar e, mais tarde, boa produção para colher e gastar, dará a vocês todas as sementes que vocês precisam. Ele as fará crescer, a fim de que vocês possam colher da sua colheita os frutos da sua justiça.
11Sim, Deus lhes dará muito, a fim de que vocês possam dar com generosidade, e quando nós levarmos suas ofertas àqueles que as necessitam, a sua generosidade resulte em gratidão e louvor a Deus pela ajuda de vocês.
12Assim, duas coisas boas acontecem como resultado das ofertas de vocês — os necessitados do povo de Deus são ajudados e eles transbordarão de gratidão a Deus.
13Com o serviço que vocês estão prestando, mostram a eles como vocês são dedicados ao evangelho de Cristo. Eles ficarão satisfeitos e louvarão a Deus pelas generosas ofertas para eles e para outros.
14E eles orarão por vocês com profundo fervor e amor, por causa da maravilhosa graça de Deus manifestada por meio de vocês.
15Graças a Deus pela sua dádiva maravilhosa, uma dádiva que não podemos descrever com palavras.

1PORQUE cuanto á la suministración para los santos, por demás me es escribiros;
2Pues conozco vuestro pronto ánimo, del cual me glorío yo entre los de Macedonia, que Acaya está apercibida desde el año pasado; y vuestro ejemplo ha estimulado á muchos.
3Mas he enviado los hermanos, porque nuestra gloria de vosotros no sea vana en esta parte; para que, como lo he dicho, estéis apercibidos;
4No sea que, si vinieren conmigo Macedonios, y os hallaren desapercibidos, nos avergoncemos nosotros, por no decir vosotros, de este firme gloriarnos.
5Por tanto, tuve por cosa necesaria exhortar á los hermanos que fuesen primero á vosotros, y apresten primero vuestra bendición antes prometida, para que esté aparejada como de bendición, y no como de mezquindad.
6Esto empero digo: El que siembra escasamente, también segará escasamente; y el que siembra en bendiciones, en bendiciones también segará.
7Cada uno dé como propuso en su corazón: no con tristeza, ó por necesidad; porque Dios ama el dador alegre.
8Y poderoso es Dios para hacer que abunde en vosotros toda gracia; á fin de que, teniendo siempre en todas las cosas todo lo que basta, abundéis para toda buena obra:
9Como está escrito: Derramó, dió á los pobres; su justicia permanece para siempre.
10Y el que da simiente al que siembra, también dará pan para comer, y multiplicará vuestra sementera, y aumentará los crecimientos de los frutos de vuestra justicia;
11Para que estéis enriquecidos en todo para toda bondad, la cual obra por nosotros hacimiento de gracias á Dios.
12Porque la suministración de este servicio, no solamente suple lo que á los santos falta, sino también abunda en muchos hacimientos de gracias á Dios:
13Que por la experiencia de esta suministración glorifican á Dios por la obediencia que profesáis al evangelio de Cristo, y por la bondad de contribuir para ellos y para todos;
14Asimismo por la oración de ellos á favor vuestro, los cuales os quieren á causa de la eminente gracia de Dios en vosotros.
15Gracias á Dios por su don inefable.

1For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:
2For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.
3Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:
4Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.
5Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.
6But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
9(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
10Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
11Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
12For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
13Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
14And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.
15Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
World English Bible
1It is indeed unnecessary for me to write to you concerning the service to the saints,
2for I know your readiness, of which I boast on your behalf to those of Macedonia, that Achaia has been prepared for the past year. Your zeal has stirred up very many of them.
3But I have sent the brothers so that our boasting on your behalf may not be in vain in this respect, that, just as I said, you may be prepared,
4lest by any means, if anyone from Macedonia comes there with me and finds you unprepared, we (to say nothing of you) would be disappointed in this confident boasting.
5I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers that they would go before to you and arrange ahead of time the generous gift that you promised before, that the same might be ready as a matter of generosity, and not of greediness.
6Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
7Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.
9As it is written, “He has scattered abroad. He has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever.”
10Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness,
11you being enriched in everything for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us.
12For this service of giving that you perform not only makes up for lack among the saints, but abounds also through much giving of thanks to God,
13seeing that through the proof given by this service, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the Good News of Christ and for the generosity of your contribution to them and to all,
14while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, yearn for you by reason of the exceeding grace of God in you.
15Now thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift!
