Pero esto lo determiné para mí, para no volver a ir a vosotros con tristeza.
ESTO pues determiné para conmigo, no venir otra vez á vosotros con tristeza.
But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.

Porque si os entristezco, ¿quién me alegrará a mí, sino aquel a quien yo he entristecido?

For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?

Y os escribí esto mismo, para que cuando viniera, no tuviera tristeza de parte de aquellos de quienes debía alegrarme, teniendo confianza en todos vosotros de que mi alegría sería compartida por todos vosotros.
Y esto mismo os escribí, porque cuando llegare no tenga tristeza sobre tristeza de los que me debiera gozar; confiando en vosotros todos que mi gozo es el de todos vosotros.
And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
And I wrote this very thing to you, so that when I came, I wouldn’t have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all that my joy would be shared by all of you.
Porque por mucha aflicción y angustia de corazón os escribí con muchas lágrimas, no para que os entristecierais, sino para que conocierais el amor que os tengo en abundancia.

Pero si alguno ha causado dolor, no me lo ha causado a mí, sino en parte, para no exagerar, a todos vosotros.

But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.

Este castigo que le fue impuesto por la mayoría es suficiente para tal persona,
Bástale al tal esta reprensión hecha de muchos;
Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.
This punishment which was inflicted by the many is sufficient for such a one;
de modo que, por el contrario, debéis más bien perdonarle y consolarle, no sea que sea consumido por su excesiva tristeza.
Así que, al contrario, vosotros más bien lo perdonéis y consoléis, porque no sea el tal consumido de demasiada tristeza.
So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

Por eso os ruego que confirméis vuestro amor hacia él.

para que Satanás no saque ventaja sobre nosotros, pues no ignoramos sus maquinaciones.
Porque no seamos engañados de Satanás: pues no ignoramos sus maquinaciones.
Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Porque para Dios somos grato olor de Cristo en los que se salvan y en los que se pierden:

To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
to the one a stench from death to death, to the other a sweet aroma from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?
Porque no somos como muchos, que medran falsificando la palabra de Dios, sino que con sinceridad, como de parte de Dios, y delante de Dios, hablamos en Cristo.
