1Manassé avait douze ans lorsqu'il monta sur le trône, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans à Jérusalem.
2Il fit le mal devant le Seigneur, et commit toutes les abominations des peuples que le Seigneur avait exterminés devant Israël.
3Il se pervertit, et il releva les hauts lieux qu'avait détruits Ezéchias, son père ; il dressa des colonnes à Baal, planta des bois sacrés, adora toute l'armée du ciel, et la servit.
4Et il bâtit des autels dans le temple dont le Seigneur avait dit : Mon nom sera toujours dans Jérusalem.
5Et il bâtit des autels à toute l'armée du ciel, dans les deux parvis du temple du Seigneur.
6Et il fit passer ses enfants à travers la flamme dans le val de Benennom ; et il consulta les devins, les augures et les sorciers ; il accueillit des ventriloques et des enchanteurs ; il fit de plus en plus le mal devant le Seigneur, pour exciter sa colère.
7Et il plaça des statues et des images en fonte dans le temple dont le Seigneur avait dit à David et à Salomon, son fils : En ce temple et à Jérusalem, que j'ai choisis parmi toutes les tribus d'Israël, j'établirai mon nom pour toujours.
8Et je n'éloignerai plus le pied d'Israël de la terre que j'ai donnée à leurs pères, pourvu qu'ils soient attentifs à faire tout ce que je leur ai commandé, en se conformant à toute la loi, aux ordonnances et aux jugements donnés par la main de Moïse.
9Ainsi, Manassé égara Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem, pour qu'ils fissent le mal, plus que toutes les nations que le Seigneur avait exterminées devant Israël.
10Et le Seigneur parla à Manassé et à son peuple ; mais ils ne l'écoutèrent pas.
11Et le Seigneur conduisit contre eux les chefs de l'armée du roi d'Assyrie, et ils prirent Manassé, et ils le chargèrent de chaînes, et ils l'emmenèrent à Babylone.
12Et, dans son affliction, il chercha la face du Seigneur son Dieu, et il s'humilia beaucoup devant la face du Seigneur Dieu de ses pères.
13Et il le pria ; or, Dieu entendit ses cris ; il l'exauça, et le ramena à Jérusalem dans son royaume, et Manassé reconnut que le Seigneur seul est Dieu.
14Après cela, il bâtit le mur extérieur de la ville de David, du côté du midi, au sud du torrent, depuis l'entrée de la porte des Poissons, continuant tout autour jusqu'à Ophel, ; il l'éleva beaucoup, et il établit des chefs de l'armée dans toutes les places fortes de Juda.
15Et il enleva les dieux étrangers et les statues du temple du Seigneur, et les autels qu'il avait dressés sur la montagne du temple du Seigneur, tant dans Jérusalem que hors de la ville.
16Et il releva l'autel du Seigneur, et il y sacrifia des hosties pacifiques et des victimes de louanges ; et il dit à Juda de servir le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël.
17Toutefois, le peuple sacrifia encore sur les hauts lieux ; mais seulement au Seigneur.
18Le reste des actes de Manassé, sa prière à Dieu, et les paroles des voyants qui lui parlèrent au nom du Seigneur Dieu d'Israël,
19La prière qu'il fit à Dieu et qui fut exaucée, ses péchés, ses égarements, et les endroits où il bâtit des hauts lieux, et où il plaça des bois sacrés et des statues, avant de se convertir, sont écrits aux Récits des voyants.
20Et Manassé s'endormit avec ses pères, et on l'ensevelit dans le jardin de son palais, et son fils Amon régna à sa place.
21Amon avait vingt-deux ans quand il monta sur le trône, et il régna deux ans à Jérusalem.
22Et il fit le mal devant le Seigneur, comme avait fait son père ; il sacrifia à toutes les idoles qu'avait faites Manassé, et il les servit.
23Et il ne s'humilia pas devant le Seigneur, comme s'était humilié son père ; et il multiplia ses péchés.
24Et ses serviteurs se soulevèrent contre lui, et ils le tuèrent dans son palais.

1DE DOCE años era Manasés cuando comenzó á reinar, y cincuenta y cinco años reinó en Jerusalem.
2Mas hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, conforme á las abominaciones de las gentes que había echado Jehová delante de los hijos de Israel:
3Porque él reedificó los altos que Ezechîas su padre había derribado, y levantó altares á los Baales, é hizo bosques, y adoró á todo el ejército de los cielos, y á él sirvió.
4Edificó también altares en la casa de Jehová, de la cual había dicho Jehová: En Jerusalem será mi nombre perpetuamente.
5Edificó asimismo altares á todo el ejército de los cielos en los dos atrios de la casa de Jehová.
6Y pasó sus hijos por fuego en el valle de los hijos de Hinnom; y miraba en los tiempos, miraba en agüeros, era dado á adivinaciones, y consultaba pythones y encantadores: subió de punto en hacer lo malo en ojos de Jehová, para irritarle.

9Hizo pues Manasés desviarse á Judá y á los moradores de Jerusalem, para hacer más mal que las gentes que Jehová destruyó delante de los hijos de Israel.
10Y habló Jehová á Manasés y á su pueblo, mas ellos no escucharon: por lo cual Jehová trajo contra ellos los generales del ejército del rey de los Asirios, los cuales aprisionaron con grillos á Manasés, y atado con cadenas lleváronlo á Babilonia.
11Mas luego que fué puesto en angustias, oró ante Jehová su Dios, humillado grandemente en la presencia del Dios de sus padres.
12Y habiendo á él orado, fué atendido; pues que oyó su oración, y volviólo á Jerusalem, á su reino. Entonces conoció Manasés que Jehová era Dios.
13Después de esto edificó el muro de afuera de la ciudad de David, al occidente de Gihón, en el valle, á la entrada de la puerta del pescado, y cercó á Ophel, y alzólo muy alto; y puso capitanes de ejército en todas las ciudades fuertes por Judá.

17Lo demás de los hechos de Manasés, y su oración á su Dios, y las palabras de los videntes que le hablaron en nombre de Jehová el Dios de Israel, he aquí todo está escrito en los hechos de los reyes de Israel.

1Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:
2But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.
3For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
4Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.
5And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.
6And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
7And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
8Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.
9So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.
10And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.
11Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.
12And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,
13And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.
14Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah.
15And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
16And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel.
17Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, yet unto the LORD their God only.
18Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
19His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.
20So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.
21Amon was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem.
22But he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;
23And humbled not himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.
24And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.
25But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

6He also made his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom. He practiced sorcery, divination, and witchcraft, and dealt with those who had familiar spirits and with wizards. He did much evil in the LORD’s sight, to provoke him to anger.
7He set the engraved image of the idol, which he had made, in God’s house, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever.
8I will not any more remove the foot of Israel from off the land which I have appointed for your fathers, if only they will observe to do all that I have commanded them, even all the law, the statutes, and the ordinances given by Moses.”
9Manasseh seduced Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that they did more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.
10The LORD spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they didn’t listen.
11Therefore the LORD brought on them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh in chains, bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.
12When he was in distress, he begged the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.
13He prayed to him; and he was entreated by him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God.
14Now after this, he built an outer wall to David’s city on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entrance at the fish gate. He encircled Ophel with it, and raised it up to a very great height; and he put valiant captains in all the fortified cities of Judah.
15He took away the foreign gods and the idol out of the LORD’s house, and all the altars that he had built in the mountain of the LORD’s house and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
16He built up the LORD’s altar, and offered sacrifices of peace offerings and of thanksgiving on it, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel.
17Nevertheless the people still sacrificed in the high places, but only to the LORD their God.
18Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, behold, they are written among the acts of the kings of Israel.
19His prayer also, and how God listened to his request, and all his sin and his trespass, and the places in which he built high places and set up the Asherah poles and the engraved images before he humbled himself: behold, they are written in the history of Hozai.
