1Depois destas coisas e desta fidelidade, veio Senaqueribe rei dos assírios, entrou em Judá, e assentou campo contra as cidades fortes, e determinou de entrar nelas.
2Vendo, pois, Ezequias a vinda de Senaqueribe, e seu aspecto de combater a Jerusalém,
3Teve seu conselho com seus príncipes e com seus valentes, sobre fechar as fontes das águas que estavam fora da cidade; e eles lhe apoiaram.
4Juntou-se, pois, muito povo, e fecharam todas as fontes, e o ribeiro que derrama por em meio do território, dizendo: Por que devem achar os reis de Assíria muitas águas quando vierem?
5Encorajou-se assim Ezequias, e edificou todos os muros caídos, e fez erguer as torres, e outro muro por de fora: fortificou também a Milo na cidade de Davi, e fez muitas espadas e paveses.
6E pôs capitães de guerra sobre o povo, e os fez reunir assim na praça da porta da cidade, e falou ao coração deles, dizendo:
7Esforçai-vos e confortai-vos; não temais, nem tenhais medo do rei da Assíria, nem de toda sua multidão que vem com ele; porque mais são conosco do que com ele.
8Com ele está a força da carne, mas conosco está o SENHOR nosso Deus para ajudar-nos, e lutar nossas batalhas. E firmou-se o povo sobre as palavras de Ezequias rei de Judá.
9Depois disto Senaqueribe rei dos assírios, estando ele sobre Laquis e com ele toda sua potência, enviou seus servos a Jerusalém, para dizer a Ezequias rei de Judá, e a todos os de Judá que estavam em Jerusalém:
10Assim disse Senaqueribe rei dos assírios: Em quem confiais vós para estar cercados em Jerusalém?
11Não vos engana Ezequias para entregar-vos à morte, à fome, e à sede, dizendo: o SENHOR nosso Deus nos livrará da mão do rei da Assíria?
12Não é Ezequias o que tirou seus altos e seus altares, e disse a Judá e a Jerusalém: Diante somente deste altar adorareis, e sobre ele queimareis incenso?
13Não sabeis o que eu e meus pais fizemos a todos os povos da terra? Puderam os deuses das nações das terras livrar sua terra de minha mão?
14Que deus havia de todos os deuses daquelas nações que destruíram meus pais, que pudesse salvar seu povo de minhas mãos? Por que poderá vosso Deus livrar-vos de minha mão?
15Agora, pois, não vos engane Ezequias, nem vos persuada tal coisa, nem lhe creiais; que se nenhum deus de todas aquelas nações e reinos pode livrar seu povo de meus mãos, e das mãos de meus pais, quanto menos vosso Deus vos poderá livrar de minha mão?
16E outras coisas falaram seus servos contra o Deus o SENHOR, e contra seu servo Ezequias.
17Além de tudo isto escreveu cartas em que blasfemava ao SENHOR o Deus de Israel, e falava contra ele, dizendo: Como os deuses das nações dos países não puderam livrar seu povo de minhas mãos, tampouco o Deus de Ezequias livrará ao seu das minhas mãos.
18E clamaram a grande voz em judaico ao povo de Jerusalém que estava nos muros, para espantá-los e pôr-lhes temor, para tomar a cidade.
19E falaram contra o Deus de Jerusalém, como contra os deuses dos povos da terra, obra de mãos de homens.
20Mas o rei Ezequias, e o profeta Isaías filho de Amoz, oraram por isto, e clamaram ao céu.
21E o SENHOR enviou um anjo, o qual feriu a todo valente e esforçado, e aos chefes e capitães no campo do rei da Assíria. Voltou-se, portanto, com vergonha de rosto a sua terra; e entrando no templo de seu deus, ali o mataram à espada os que haviam saído de suas entranhas.
22Assim o SENHOR salvou Ezequias e os moradores de Jerusalém das mãos de Senaqueribe rei da Assíria, e das mãos de todos: e preservou-os de todas as partes.
23E muitos trouxeram oferta ao SENHOR a Jerusalém, e a Ezequias rei de Judá, ricos presentes; e foi muito grande diante de todas as nações depois disto.
24Naquele tempo Ezequias ficou doente de morte; e orou ao SENHOR, o qual lhe respondeu, e deu-lhe um sinal.
25Mas Ezequias não pagou conforme ao bem que lhe havia sido feito; pelo contrário, seu coração se enalteceu; por isso veio ira contra ele, e contra Judá e Jerusalém.
26Porém Ezequias, depois de haver-se orgulhado de coração, humilhou-se, ele e os moradores de Jerusalém; e não veio sobre eles a ira do SENHOR nos dias de Ezequias.
27E Ezequias teve riquezas e glória em grande maneira; e proveu-se de tesouros de prata e ouro, de pedras preciosas, de aromas, de escudos, e de todas os tipos de objetos valiosos;
28também de depósitos para as rendas do grão, do vinho, e azeite; estábulos para todo tipo de animais, e currais para os gados.
29Fez para si também cidades, e rebanhos de ovelhas e de vacas em grande quantidade; porque Deus lhe havia dado muita riqueza.
30Este Ezequias tapou os mananciais das águas de Giom da parte de cima, e as fez correr abaixo ao ocidente da cidade de Davi. E foi próspero Ezequias em tudo o que fez.
31Porém no dos embaixadores dos príncipes de Babilônia, que enviaram a ele para saber do prodígio que havia acontecido naquela terra, Deus o deixou, para provar-lhe, para fazer conhecer tudo o que estava em seu coração.
32Os demais dos feitos de Ezequias, e de suas misericórdias, eis que tudo está escrito na profecia de Isaías profeta, filho de Amoz, no livro dos reis de Judá e de Israel.
33E descansou Ezequias com seus pais, e sepultaram-no na parte superior dos sepulcros dos filhos de Davi, honrando-lhe em sua morte todo Judá e os de Jerusalém: e reinou em seu lugar Manassés seu filho.

1DESPUÉS de estas cosas y de esta fidelidad, vino Sennachêrib rey de los Asirios, entró en Judá, y asentó campo contra las ciudades fuertes, y determinó de entrar en ellas.
2Viendo pues Ezechîas la venida de Sennachêrib, y su aspecto de combatir á Jerusalem,
3Tuvo su consejo con sus príncipes y con sus valerosos, sobre cegar las fuentes de las aguas que estaban fuera de la ciudad; y ellos le apoyaron.
4Juntóse pues mucho pueblo, y cegaron todas las fuentes, y el arroyo que derrama por en medio del territorio, diciendo: ¿Por qué han de hallar los reyes de Asiria muchas aguas cuando vinieren?
5Alentóse así Ezechîas, y edificó todos los muros caídos, é hizo alzar las torres, y otro muro por de fuera: fortificó además á Millo en la ciudad de David, é hizo muchas espadas y paveses.
6Y puso capitanes de guerra sobre el pueblo, é hízolos reunir así en la plaza de la puerta de la ciudad, y hablóles al corazón de ellos, diciendo:
7Esforzaos y confortaos; no temáis, ni hayáis miedo del rey de Asiria, ni de toda su multitud que con él viene; porque más son con nosotros que con él.
8Con él es el brazo de carne, mas con nosotros Jehová nuestro Dios para ayudarnos, y pelear nuestras batallas. Y afirmóse el pueblo sobre las palabras de Ezechîas rey de Judá.
9Después de esto Sennachêrib rey de los Asirios, estando él sobre Lachîs y con él toda su potencia, envió sus siervos á Jerusalem, para decir á Ezechîas rey de Judá, y á todos los de Judá que estaban en Jerusalem:
10Así ha dicho Sennachêrib rey de los Asirios: ¿En quién confiáis vosotros para estar cercados en Jerusalem?
11¿No os engaña Ezechîas para entregaros á muerte, á hambre, y á sed, diciendo: Jehová nuestro Dios nos librará de la mano del rey de Asiria?
12¿No es Ezechîas el que ha quitado sus altos y sus altares, y dijo á Judá y á Jerusalem: Delante de este solo altar adoraréis, y sobre él quemaréis perfume?
13¿No habéis sabido lo que yo y mis padres hemos hecho á todos los pueblos de la tierra? ¿Pudieron los dioses de las gentes de las tierras librar su tierra de mi mano?
14¿Qué dios hubo de todos los dioses de aquellas gentes que destruyeron mis padres, que pudiese salvar su pueblo de mis manos? ¿Por qué podrá vuestro Dios libraros de mi mano?
15Ahora pues, no os engañe Ezechîas, ni os persuada tal cosa, ni le creáis; que si ningún dios de todas aquellas naciones y reinos pudo librar su pueblo de mis manos, y de las manos de mis padres, ¿cuánto menos vuestro Dios os podrá librar de mi mano?
16Y otras cosas hablaron sus siervos contra el Dios Jehová, y contra su siervo Ezechîas.
17Además de esto escribió letras en que blasfemaba á Jehová el Dios de Israel, y hablaba contra él, diciendo: Como los dioses de las gentes de los países no pudieron librar su pueblo de mis manos, tampoco el Dios de Ezechîas librará al suyo de mis manos.
18Y clamaron á gran voz en judaico al pueblo de Jerusalem que estaba en los muros, para espantarlos y ponerles temor, para tomar la ciudad.
19Y hablaron contra el Dios de Jerusalem, como contra los dioses de los pueblos de la tierra, obra de manos de hombres.
20Mas el rey Ezechîas, y el profeta Isaías hijo de Amós, oraron por esto, y clamaron al cielo.
21Y Jehová envió un ángel, el cual hirió á todo valiente y esforzado, y á los jefes y capitanes en el campo del rey de Asiria. Volvióse por tanto con vergüenza de rostro á su tierra; y entrando en el templo de su dios, allí lo mataron á cuchillo los que habían salido de sus entrañas.
22Así salvó Jehová á Ezechîas y á los moradores de Jerusalem de las manos de Sennachêrib rey de Asiria, y de las manos de todos: y preservólos de todas partes.
23Y muchos trajeron ofrenda á Jehová á Jerusalem, y á Ezechîas rey de Judá, ricos dones; y fué muy grande delante de todas las gentes después de esto.
24En aquel tiempo Ezechîas enfermó de muerte: y oró á Jehová, el cual le respondió, y dióle una señal.
25Mas Ezechîas no pagó conforme al bien que le había sido hecho: antes se enalteció su corazón, y fué la ira contra él, y contra Judá y Jerusalem.
26Empero Ezechîas, después de haberse engreído su corazón, se humilló, él y los moradores de Jerusalem; y no vino sobre ellos la ira de Jehová en los días de Ezechîas.
27Y tuvo Ezechîas riquezas y gloria mucha en gran manera; é hízose de tesoros de plata y oro, de piedras preciosas, de aromas, de escudos, y de todas alhajas de desear;
28Asimismo depósitos para las rentas del grano, del vino, y aceite; establos para toda suerte de bestias, y majadas para los ganados.
29Hízose también ciudades, y hatos de ovejas y de vacas en gran copia; porque Dios le había dado mucha hacienda.
30Este Ezechîas tapó los manaderos de las aguas de Gihón la de arriba, y encaminólas abajo al occidente de la ciudad de David. Y fué prosperado Ezechîas en todo lo que hizo.
31Empero en lo de los embajadores de los príncipes de Babilonia, que enviaron á él para saber del prodigio que había acaecido en aquella tierra, Dios lo dejó, para probarle, para hacer conocer todo lo que estaba en su corazón.
32Lo demás de los hechos de Ezechîas, y de sus misericordias, he aquí todo está escrito en la profecía de Isaías profeta, hijo de Amós, en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.
33Y durmió Ezechîas con sus padres, y sepultáronlo en los más insignes sepulcros de los hijos de David, honrándole en su muerte todo Judá y los de Jerusalem: y reinó en su lugar Manasés su hijo.

1After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.
2And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,
3He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.
4So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?
5Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.
6And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,
7Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
8With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him,) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,
10Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?
11Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
12Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?
13Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
14Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?
15Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?
16And his servants spake yet more against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah.
17He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
18Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ speech unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.
19And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.
20And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.
21And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.
22Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.
23And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.
24In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the LORD: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.
25But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
26Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
27And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
28Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.
29Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.
30This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
31Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.
32Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

1After these things and this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, entered into Judah, encamped against the fortified cities, and intended to win them for himself.
2When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come, and that he was planning to fight against Jerusalem,
3he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the springs which were outside of the city, and they helped him.
4Then many people gathered together and they stopped all the springs and the brook that flowed through the middle of the land, saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find abundant water?”
5He took courage, built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised it up to the towers, with the other wall outside, and strengthened Millo in David’s city, and made weapons and shields in abundance.
6He set captains of war over the people, gathered them together to him in the wide place at the gate of the city, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,
7“Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or dismayed because of the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude who is with him; for there is a greater one with us than with him.
8An arm of flesh is with him, but the LORD our God is with us to help us and to fight our battles.” The people rested themselves on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9After this, Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem, (now he was attacking Lachish, and all his forces were with him), to Hezekiah king of Judah, and to all Judah who were at Jerusalem, saying,
10Sennacherib king of Assyria says, “In whom do you trust, that you remain under siege in Jerusalem?
11Doesn’t Hezekiah persuade you to give you over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, ‘The LORD our God will deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria’?
12Hasn’t the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall worship before one altar, and you shall burn incense on it’?
13Don’t you know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands in any way able to deliver their land out of my hand?
14Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?
15Now therefore don’t let Hezekiah deceive you nor persuade you in this way. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand?”
16His servants spoke yet more against the LORD God and against his servant Hezekiah.
17He also wrote letters insulting the LORD, the God of Israel, and speaking against him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall the God of Hezekiah not deliver his people out of my hand.”
18They called out with a loud voice in the Jews’ language to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten them and to trouble them, that they might take the city.
19They spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.
20Hezekiah the king and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed because of this, and cried to heaven.
21The LORD sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, the leaders, and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he had come into the house of his god, those who came out of his own body killed him there with the sword.
22Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.
23Many brought gifts to the LORD to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from then on.
24In those days Hezekiah was terminally ill, and he prayed to the LORD; and he spoke to him, and gave him a sign.
25But Hezekiah didn’t reciprocate appropriate to the benefit done for him, because his heart was lifted up. Therefore there was wrath on him, Judah, and Jerusalem.
26However, Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the LORD’s wrath didn’t come on them in the days of Hezekiah.
27Hezekiah had exceedingly great riches and honor. He provided himself with treasuries for silver, for gold, for precious stones, for spices, for shields, and for all kinds of valuable vessels;
28also storehouses for the increase of grain, new wine, and oil; and stalls for all kinds of animals, and flocks in folds.
29Moreover he provided for himself cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance; for God had given him abundant possessions.
30This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper spring of the waters of Gihon, and brought them straight down on the west side of David’s city. Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
31However, concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him to test him, that he might know all that was in his heart.
32Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and his good deeds, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascent to the tombs of the sons of David. All Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
