1Ahas war zwanzig Jahre alt, da er Konig ward, und regierete sechzehn Jahre zu Jerusalem; und tat nicht, das dem HERRN wohlgefiel, wie sein Vater David,
2sondern wandelte in den Wegen der Konige Israels. Dazu machte ergegossene Bilder Baalim.
3Und raucherte im Tal der Kinder Hinnom und verbrannte seine Sohne mit Feuer nach dem Greuel der Heiden, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israel vertrieben hatte;
4und opferte und raucherte auf den Hohen und auf den Hugeln und unter alien grunen Baumen.
5Darum gab ihn der HERR, sein Gott, in die Hand des Konigs zu Syrien, daß sie ihn schlugen und einen groften Haufen von den Seinen gefangen wegfuhreten und gen Damaskus brachten. Auch ward er gegeben unter die Hand des Konigs Israels, daß er eine grofte Schlacht an ihm tat.
6Denn Pekah, der Sohn Remaljas, schlug in Juda hundertundzwanzigtausend auf einen Tag, die alle redliche Leute waren, darum daß sie den HERRN, ihrer Vater Gott, verlieften.
7Und Sichri, ein Gewaltiger in Ephraim, erwurgete Maeseja, den Sohn des Konigs, und Asrikam, den Hausfürsten, und Elkana, den Nachsten nach dem Konige.
8Und die Kinder Israel fuhreten gefangen weg von ihren Brudern zweihunderttausend Weiber, Sohne und Tochter; und nahmen dazu groften Raub von ihnen und brachten den Raub gen Samaria.
9Es war aber daselbst ein Prophet des HERRN, der hieft Oded, der ging heraus dem Heer entgegen, das gen Samaria kam, und sprach zu ihnen: Siehe, weil der HERR, eurer Vater Gott, uber Juda zornig ist, hat er sie in eure Hande gegeben; ihr aber habt sie erwurget, so greulich, daß es in den Himmel reichet.
10Nun gedenket ihr die Kinder Judas und Jerusalems euch zu unterwerfen zu Knechten und Magden. Ist das denn nicht Schuld bei euch wider den HERRN, euren Gott?
11So gehorchet mir nun und bringet die Gefangenen wieder hin, die ihr habt weggefuhret aus euren Brudern; denn des HERRN Zorn ist uber euch ergrimmet.
12Da machten sich aufetliche unter den Vornehmsten der Kinder Ephraim: Asarja, der Sohn Johanans, Berechja, der Sohn Mesillemoths, Jehiskia, der Sohn Sallums, und Amasa, der Sohn Hadlais, wider die, so aus dem Heer kamen,
13und sprachen zu ihnen: Ihr sollt die Gefangenen nicht hereinbringen; denn ihr gedenket nur Schuld vor dem HERRN uber uns, auf daß ihr unserer Sünde und Schuld desto mehr machet; denn es ist zuvor der Schuld zu viel und der Zorn uber Israel ergrimmet.
14Da lieften die Geharnischten die Gefangenen und den Raub vor den Obersten und vor der ganzen Gemeine.
15Da stunden auf die Manner, die jetzt mit Namen genannt sind, und nahmen die Gefangenen und alle die bloft unter ihnen waren, zogen sie an von dem Geraubten und kleideten sie und zogen ihnen Schuhe an; und gaben ihnen zu essen und zu trinken und salbeten sie; und fuhreten sie auf Eseln alle, die schwach waren, und brachten sie gen Jericho, zur Palmenstadt, zu ihren Brudern. Und kamen wieder gen Samaria.
16Zu derselben Zeit sandte der Konig Ahas zu den Konigen von Assur, daß sie ihm hülfen.
17Und es kamen abermal die Edomiter und schlugen Juda und fuhreten etliche weg.
18Auch taten sich die Philister nieder in den Stadten, in der Aue und gegen Mittag Juda und gewannen Beth-Semes, Ajalon, Gederoth und Socho mit ihren Tochtern und Thimna mit ihren Tochtern und Gimso mit ihren Tochtern; und wohneten drinnen.
19Denn der HERR demutigte Juda urn Ahas willen, des Konigs Judas, darum daß er Juda bloft machte und vergriff sich am HERRN.
20Und es kam wider ihn Thiglath-Pilneser, der Konig von Assur, der belagerte ihn; aber er konnte ihn nicht gewinnen.
21Denn Ahas teilte das Haus des HERRN und das Haus des Konigs und der Obersten, das er dem Konige zu Assur gab; aber es half ihm nichts.
22Dazu in seiner Not machte der Konig Ahas des Vergreifens am HERRN noch mehr
23und opferte den Gottern zu Damaskus, die ihn geschlagen batten, und sprach: Die Gotter der Konige zu Syrien helfen ihnen; darum will ich ihnen opfern, daß sie mir auch helfen; so doch dieselben ihm und dem ganzen Israel ein Fall waren.
24Und Ahas brachte zuhauf die Gefafte des Hauses Gottes und sammelte die Gefafte im Hause Gottes und schloft die Türen zu am Hause des HERRN; und machte ihm Altare in alien Winkeln zu Jerusalem.
25Und in den Stadten Judas hin und her machte er Hohen, zu rauchern andern Gottern; und reizte den HERRN, seiner Vater Gott.
26Was aber mehr von ihm zu sagen ist, und alle seine Wege, beide die ersten und letzten, siehe, das ist geschrieben im Buch der Konige Judas und Israels.
27Und Ahas entschlief mit seinen Vatern, und sie begruben ihn in der Stadt zu Jerusalem; denn sie brachten ihn nicht unter die Graber der Konige Israels. Und sein Sohn Jehiskia ward Konig an seiner Statt.

1DE VEINTE años era Achâz cuando comenzó á reinar, y dieciséis años reinó en Jerusalem: mas no hizo lo recto en ojos de Jehová, como David su padre.
2Antes anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel, y además hizo imágenes de fundición á los Baales.
3Quemó también perfume en el valle de los hijos de Hinnom, y quemó sus hijos por fuego, conforme á las abominaciones de las gentes que Jehová había echado delante de los hijos de Israel.
4Asimismo sacrificó y quemó perfumes en los altos, y en los collados, y debajo de todo árbol espeso.
5Por lo cual Jehová su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los Siros, los cuales le derrotaron, y cogieron de él una grande presa, que llevaron á Damasco. Fué también entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual lo batió con gran mortandad.
6Porque Peca, hijo de Remalías mató en Judá en un día ciento y veinte mil, todos hombres valientes; por cuanto habían dejado á Jehová el Dios de sus padres.
7Asimismo Zichri, hombre poderoso de Ephraim, mató á Maasías hijo del rey, y á Azricam su mayordomo, y á Elcana, segundo después del rey.
8Tomaron también cautivos los hijos de Israel de sus hermanos doscientos mil, mujeres, muchachos, y muchachas, á más de haber saqueado de ellos un gran despojo, el cual trajeron á Samaria.
9Había entonces allí un profeta de Jehová, que se llamaba Obed, el cual salió delante del ejército cuando entraba en Samaria, y díjoles: He aquí Jehová el Dios de vuestros padres, por el enojo contra Judá, los ha entregado en vuestras manos; y vosotros los habéis muerto con ira, que hasta el cielo ha llegado.
10Y ahora habéis determinado sujetar á vosotros á Judá y á Jerusalem por siervos y siervas: mas ¿no habéis vosotros pecado contra Jehová vuestro Dios?
11Oidme pues ahora, y volved á enviar los cautivos que habéis tomado de vuestros hermanos: porque Jehová está airado contra vosotros.
12Levantáronse entonces algunos varones de los principales de los hijos de Ephraim, Azarías hijo de Johanán, y Berechîas hijo de Mesillemoth, y Ezechîas hijo de Sallum, y Amasa hijo de Hadlai, contra los que venían de la guerra.
13Y dijéronles: No metáis acá la cautividad; porque el pecado contra Jehová será sobre nosotros. Vosotros tratáis de añadir sobre nuestros pecados y sobre nuestras culpas, siendo asaz grande nuestro delito, y la ira del furor sobre Israel.
14Entonces el ejército dejó los cautivos y la presa delante de los príncipes y de toda la multitud.
15Y levantáronse los varones nombrados, y tomaron los cautivos, y vistieron del despojo á los que de ellos estaban desnudos; vistiéronlos y calzáronlos, y diéronles de comer y de beber, y ungiéronlos, y condujeron en asnos á todos los flacos, y lleváronlos hasta Jericó, ciudad de las palmas, cerca de sus hermanos; y ellos se volvieron á Samaria.
16En aquel tiempo envió á pedir el rey Achâz á los reyes de Asiria que le ayudasen:
17Porque á más de esto, los Idumeos habían venido y herido á los de Judá, y habían llevado cautivos.
18Asimismo los Filisteos se habían derramado por las ciudades de la llanura, y al mediodía de Judá, y habían tomado á Beth-semes, á Ajalón, Gederoth, y Sochô con sus aldeas, Timna también con sus aldeas, y Gimzo con sus aldeas; y habitaban en ellas.
19Porque Jehová había humillado á Judá por causa de Achâz rey de Israel: por cuanto él había desnudado á Judá, y rebeládose gravemente contra Jehová.
20Y vino contra él Tilgath-pilneser, rey de los Asirios: pues lo redujo á estrechez, y no lo fortificó.
21Aunque despojó Achâz la casa de Jehová, y la casa real, y las de los príncipes, para dar al rey de los Asirios, con todo eso él no le ayudó.
22Además el rey Achâz en el tiempo que aquél le apuraba, añadió prevaricación contra Jehová;
23Porque sacrificó á los dioses de Damasco que le habían herido, y dijo: Pues que los dioses de los reyes de Siria les ayudan, yo también sacrificaré á ellos para que me ayuden; bien que fueron éstos su ruina, y la de todo Israel.
24A más de eso recogió Achâz los vasos de la casa de Dios, y quebrólos, y cerró las puertas de la casa de Jehová, é hízose altares en Jerusalem en todos los rincones.
25Hizo también altos en todas las ciudades de Judá, para quemar perfumes á los dioses ajenos, provocando así á ira á Jehová el Dios de sus padres.
26Lo demás de sus hechos, y todos sus caminos, primeros y postreros, he aquí ello está escrito en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.
27Y durmió Achâz con sus padres, y sepultáronlo en la ciudad de Jerusalem: mas no le metieron en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Ezechîas su hijo.

1Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father:
2For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for Baalim.
3Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.
4He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
5Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.
6For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers.
7And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king’s son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.
8And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.
9But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage that reacheth up unto heaven.
10And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not with you, even with you, sins against the LORD your God?
11Now hear me therefore, and deliver the captives again, which ye have taken captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.
12Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,
13And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for whereas we have offended against the LORD already, ye intend to add more to our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.
14So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the congregation.
15And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.
16At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Assyria to help him.
17For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.
18The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Ajalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there.
19For the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he made Judah naked, and transgressed sore against the LORD.
20And Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.
21For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.
22And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD: this is that king Ahaz.
23For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
24And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.
25And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger the LORD God of his fathers.
26Now the rest of his acts and of all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
27And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem: but they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

11Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives that you have taken captive from your brothers, for the fierce wrath of the LORD is on you.”
12Then some of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against those who came from the war,
13and said to them, “You must not bring in the captives here, for you intend that which will bring on us a trespass against the LORD, to add to our sins and to our guilt; for our guilt is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.”
14So the armed men left the captives and the plunder before the princes and all the assembly.
15The men who have been mentioned by name rose up and took the captives, and with the plunder clothed all who were naked among them, dressed them, gave them sandals, gave them something to eat and to drink, anointed them, carried all the feeble of them on donkeys, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.
16At that time King Ahaz sent to the kings of Assyria to help him.
17For again the Edomites had come and struck Judah, and carried away captives.
18The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth Shemesh, Aijalon, Gederoth, Soco with its villages, Timnah with its villages, and also Gimzo and its villages; and they lived there.
19For the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, because he acted without restraint in Judah and trespassed severely against the LORD.
20Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came to him and gave him trouble, but didn’t strengthen him.
21For Ahaz took away a portion out of the LORD’s house, and out of the house of the king and of the princes, and gave it to the king of Assyria; but it didn’t help him.
22In the time of his distress, he trespassed yet more against the LORD, this same King Ahaz.
23For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus which had defeated him. He said, “Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, I will sacrifice to them, that they may help me.” But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.
24Ahaz gathered together the vessels of God’s house, cut the vessels of God’s house in pieces, and shut up the doors of the LORD’s house; and he made himself altars in every corner of Jerusalem.
25In every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked the LORD, the God of his fathers, to anger.
26Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
