Venticinque anni avea Joatham quando cominciò a regnare; e se dici anni regnò in Gerusalemme: sua madre ebbe nome Jerusa figliuola di Sadoc.

DE VEINTICINCO años era Joatham cuando comenzó á reinar, y dieciséis años reinó en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Jerusa, hija de Sadoc.

Jotham was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jerushah, the daughter of Zadok.

Ed egli fece quello, che era giusto dinanzi al Signore, imitando in tutto Ozia suo padre, eccetto che egli non entrò nel tempio del Signore: ma il popolo peccava tutt'ora.

E hizo lo recto en ojos de Jehová, conforme á todas las cosas que había hecho Uzzías su padre, salvo que no entró en el templo de Jehová. Y el pueblo falseaba aún.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Uzziah did: howbeit he entered not into the temple of the LORD. And the people did yet corruptly.

E Joatham diventò potente, perchè egli avea regolate le sue vie sul volere del Signore Dio suo.

Indi Joatham si addormentò co' padri suoi, e fu sepolto nella città di David: e gli succedette nel regno Achaz suo figliuolo. Giuda è afflitto in molti modi a cagione delle scelleraggini di Achaz, e prima dà gli Assiri, indi dai figliuoli d'Israele, i quali ripresi della loro crudeltà dai profeti, rimandano i prigionieri Giudei, e la preda; indi anche dagl'Idumei, e da' Filistei. Ma Achaz dopo tutti questi flagelli va avanti nell'empietà. Succede a lui il pio figliuolo Ezechia.
