1Darauf nahm das ganze Volk Juda den Uzziahu, der erst sechzehn Jahre alt war, und machte ihn zum König an seines Vaters Amasjahu Statt.
2Er baute Elot aus und brachte es wieder an Juda, nachdem sich der König zu seinen Vätern gelegt hatte.
3Uzziahu war sechzehn Jahre alt, als er König ward, und regierte zu Jerusalem zweiundfünfzig Jahre. Seine Mutter hieß Jekolja und war aus Jerusalem.
4Er tat, was dem Herrn gefiel, ganz wie sein Vater Amasjahu getan hatte.
5Er war dabei, Gott zu suchen, solange Zakarjahu lebte, der ihn in der Gottesfurcht unterwies. Solange er den Herrn suchte, gab ihm Gott Gelingen.
6Er zog aus und stritt mit den Philistern. Er stürzte die Mauern von Gat, Jabne und Asdod. Jabne aber gehörte zu den Städten bei Asdod und bei den Philistern.
7Und Gott half ihm gegen die Philister und die Araber, die zu Gurbaal wohnten, sowie gegen die Mëuniter.
8Auch die Ammoniter zahlten Uzziahu Tribut. Sein Ruhm erstreckte sich bis nach Ägypten. Denn er war überaus mächtig geworden.
9Uzziahu baute in Jerusalem Türme auf dem Ecktor, dem Taltor und dem Winkel und befestigte sie.
10Auch in der Steppe baute er Türme und grub zahlreiche Brunnen. Denn er hatte in der Niederung und Ebene große Herden und Ackerleute und Winzer auf den Bergen und im Fruchtland, weil er den Landbau liebte.
11Uzziahu hatte auch ein Heer, das Kriegsdienste tat und das in Scharen zu Felde zog. Ihre Musterung durch den Schreiber Jeiel und den Amtmann Maasejahu unter Aufsicht Chananjahus, eines Fürsten des Königs, geschah durch Zählung.
12Die Gesamtzahl der Stammhäupter der tapferen Helden war 2.600.
13Unter ihrem Befehl stand eine Heeresmacht von 307.500, die voller Kraft Kriegsdienste taten, um dem König gegen die Feinde zu helfen.
14Uzzia beschaffte für das ganze Heer Schilde, Speere, Helme, Panzer, Bogen und Schleudersteine.
15Er machte in Jerusalem künstliche Werke, von Künstlern erdacht, daß sie auf die Türme und Zinnen kämen, um mit Pfeilen und großen Steinen zu schießen. Und sein Ruhm drang in die Ferne. Denn ihm ward wunderbar geholfen, bis er mächtig geworden war.
16Als er aber mächtig geworden, überhob sich sein Herz zu verderblichem Tun. Er wurde dem Herrn, seinem Gott, untreu. So kam er in den Tempel des Herrn, auf dem Räucheraltar zu räuchern.
17Da folgte ihm der Priester Azarja nebst achtzig wackeren Priestern des Herrn.
18Sie traten dem König Uzzia entgegen mit den Worten: "Uzzia! Dir kommt es nicht zu, dem Herrn zu räuchern, sondern nur den Priestern, Aarons Söhnen, die für das Räuchern geweiht sind. Geh aus dem Heiligtum! Denn du versündigst dich und machst dir vor dem Herrn, Gott, keine Ehre."
19Uzziahu aber ward zornig. Er hielt dabei ein Rauchfaß zum Räuchern in der Hand. Wie er aber auf die Priester zürnte, brach schon der Aussatz an seiner Stirn hervor, angesichts der Priester im Hause des Herrn neben dem Räucheraltar.
20Da wandten sich ihm das priesterliche Oberhaupt Azarjahu und alle anderen Priester zu. Er aber war wirklich an der Stirn aussätzig. Da trieben sie ihn schnell von dannen. Auch er selbst stürzte hinaus, da ihn der Herr geschlagen hatte.
21Der König Uzzia blieb bis zu seinem Todestage aussätzig. Er wohnte als Aussätziger im Hause der Absonderung. Denn er war vom Hause des Herrn ausgeschlossen. Sein Sohn Jotam stand dem Königshause vor und sprach dem Volk des Landes Recht.
22Den Rest der Geschichte Uzzias, die frühere und die spätere, beschrieb der Prophet Isaias, des Amos Sohn.
23Uzzia legte sich zu seinen Vätern. Man begrub ihn bei seinen Vätern auf dem Feld bei der Gruft der Könige. Denn man hatte gesagt: "Er war aussätzig." Sein Sohn Jotam ward König an seiner Statt.

1ENTONCES todo el pueblo de Judá tomó á Uzzías, el cual era de diez y seis años, y pusiéronlo por rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.
2Edificó él á Eloth, y la restituyó á Judá después que el rey durmió con sus padres.
3De diez y seis años era Uzzías cuando comenzó á reinar, y cincuenta y dos años reinó en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Jechôlía, de Jerusalem.
4E hizo lo recto en los ojos de Jehová, conforme á todas las cosas que había hecho Amasías su padre.
5Y persistió en buscar á Dios en los días de Zachârías, entendido en visiones de Dios; y en estos días que él buscó á Jehová, él le prosperó.
6Y salió, y peleó contra los Filisteos, y rompió el muro de Gath, y el muro de Jabnia, y el muro de Asdod; y edificó ciudades en Asdod, y en la tierra de los Filisteos.
7Y dióle Dios ayuda contra los Filisteos, y contra los Arabes que habitaban en Gur-baal, y contra los Ammonitas.
8Y dieron los Ammonitas presentes á Uzzías, y divulgóse su nombre hasta la entrada de Egipto; porque se había hecho altamente poderoso.
9Edificó también Uzzías torres en Jerusalem, junto á la puerta del ángulo, y junto á la puerta del valle, y junto á las esquinas; y fortificólas.
10Asimismo edificó torres en el desierto, y abrió muchas cisternas: porque tuvo muchos ganados, así en los valles como en las vegas; y viñas, y labranzas, así en los montes como en los llanos fértiles; porque era amigo de la agricultura.
11Tuvo también Uzzías escuadrones de guerreros, los cuales salían á la guerra en ejército, según que estaban por lista hecha por mano de Jehiel escriba y de Maasías gobernador, y por mano de Hananías, uno de los príncipes del rey.
12Todo el número de los jefes de familias, valientes y esforzados, era dos mil y seiscientos.
13Y bajo la mano de éstos estaba el ejército de guerra, de trescientos siete mil y quinientos guerreros poderosos y fuertes para ayudar al rey contra los enemigos.
14Y aprestóles Uzzías para todo el ejército, escudos, lanzas, almetes, coseletes, arcos, y hondas de tirar piedras.
15E hizo en Jerusalem máquinas por industria de ingenieros, para que estuviesen en las torres y en los baluartes, para arrojar saetas y grandes piedras, y su fama se extendió lejos, porque se ayudó maravillosamente, hasta hacerse fuerte.
16Mas cuando fué fortificado, su corazón se enalteció hasta corromperse; porque se rebeló contra Jehová su Dios, entrando en el templo de Jehová para quemar sahumerios en el altar del perfume.
17Y entró tras él el sacerdote Azarías, y con él ochenta sacerdotes de Jehová, de los valientes.
18Y pusiéronse contra el rey Uzzías, y dijéronle: No á ti, oh Uzzías, el quemar perfume á Jehová, sino á los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para quemarlo: sal del santuario, por que has prevaricado, y no te será para gloria delante del Dios Jehová.
19Y airóse Uzzías, que tenía el perfume en la mano para quemarlo; y en esta su ira contra los sacerdotes, la lepra le salió en la frente delante de los sacerdotes en la casa de Jehová, junto al altar del perfume.
20Y miróle Azarías el sumo sacerdote, y todos los sacerdotes, y he aquí la lepra estaba en su frente; é hiciéronle salir apriesa de aquel lugar; y él también se dió priesa á salir, porque Jehová lo había herido.
21Así el rey Uzzías fué leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó en una casa apartada, leproso, por lo que había sido separado de la casa de Jehová; y Joatham su hijo tuvo cargo de la casa real, gobernando al pueblo de la tierra.

23Y durmió Uzzías con sus padres, y sepultáronlo con sus padres en el campo de los sepulcros reales; porque dijeron: Leproso es. Y reinó Joatham su hijo en lugar suyo.

1Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
2He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
3Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
4And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.
5And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.
6And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Mehunims.
8And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.
9Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.
10Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.
11Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.
12The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.
13And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.
15And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
16But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
17And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:
18And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.
19Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.
20And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.
21And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
22Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.
23So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

12The whole number of the heads of fathers’ households, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand six hundred.
13Under their hand was an army, three hundred seven thousand five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the army, shields, spears, helmets, coats of mail, bows, and stones for slinging.
15In Jerusalem, he made devices, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. His name spread far abroad, because he was marvelously helped until he was strong.
16But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly and he trespassed against the LORD his God, for he went into the LORD’s temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.
17Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of the LORD, who were valiant men.
18They resisted Uzziah the king, and said to him, “It isn’t for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have trespassed. It will not be for your honor from the LORD God.”
19Then Uzziah was angry. He had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke out on his forehead before the priests in the LORD’s house, beside the altar of incense.
20Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead; and they thrust him out quickly from there. Indeed, he himself also hurried to go out, because the LORD had struck him.
21Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the LORD’s house. Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
22Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, wrote.
