1Tout le peuple de Juda prit Ozias, qui était âgé de seize ans ; et on l'établit roi à la place de son père, Amasias.
2Ozias rebâtit Elath et la ramena à Juda, après que le roi fut couché avec ses pères.
3Ozias avait seize ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna cinquante-deux ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère se nommait Jéchélia, de Jérusalem.
4Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de Yahweh, selon tout ce qu'avait fait Amasias, son père.
5Il fut disposé à honorer Dieu pendant la vie de Zacharie, qui lui apprenait à craindre Dieu ; et dans le temps qu'il honorait Yahweh, Dieu le fit prospérer.
6Il partit en guerre contre les Philistins ; il renversa le mur de Geth, le mur de Jabnia et le mur d'Azot, et construisit des villes dans le territoire d'Azot et parmi les Philistins.
7Dieu l'aida contre les Philistins, contre les Arabes qui habitaient à Gur-Baal, et contre les Maonites.
8Les Ammonites faisaient des présents à Ozias, et sa renommée parvint jusqu'à l'entrée de l'Egypte, car il devint très puissant.
9Ozias bâtit des tours à Jérusalem sur la porte de l'angle, sur la porte de la vallée et sur l'angle, et il les fortifia.
10Il bâtit des tours dans le désert, et il creusa beaucoup de citernes, parce qu'il avait là de nombreux troupeaux, ainsi que dans la Séphéla et sur les plateaux, et des laboureurs et des vignerons dans les montagnes et au Carmel, car il aimait l'agriculture.
11Ozias avait une armée de guerriers qui allaient au combat par troupes, comptées d'après leur dénombrement par le secrétaire Jéhiel et le commissaire Maasias, sous les ordres de Hananias, l'un des chefs du roi.
12Le nombre total des chefs de maisons, vaillants guerriers, était de deux mille six cents.
13Ils commandaient à une armée de trois cent sept mille cinq cents hommes, qui faisaient la guerre avec une grande puissance, pour soutenir le roi contre l'ennemi.
14Ozias leur procura, à toute cette armée, des boucliers, des lances, des casques, des cuirasses, des arcs et des frondes pour lancer des pierres.
15Il fit construire à Jérusalem des machines inventées par un ingénieur, et destinées à être placées sur les tours et sur les angles des murs, pour lancer des flèches et de grosses pierres. Sa renommée s'étendait jusqu'au loin, car il fut merveilleusement aidé, jusque là qu'il devint puissant.
16Mais lorsqu'il fut devenu puissant, son cœur s'éleva jusqu'à la ruine. Péchant contre Yahweh, son Dieu, il entra dans le temple de Yahweh pour brûler des parfums sur l'autel des parfums.
17Le prêtre Azarias entra après lui, avec quatre-vingts prêtres de Yahweh, hommes courageux ;
18ils s'opposèrent au roi Ozias et lui dirent : " Ce n'est pas à toi, Ozias, d'offrir des parfums à Yahweh, mais aux prêtres, fils d'Aaron, qui ont été consacrés pour brûler des parfums. Sors du sanctuaire, car tu as péché, et cela ne tournera pas à ton honneur devant Yahweh Dieu. "
19Ozias, qui tenait un encensoir à la main pour offrir des parfums, fut saisi de colère et, comme il s'irritait contre les prêtres, la lèpre se leva sur son front, en présence des prêtres, dans la maison de Yahweh, devant l'autel des parfums.
20Le grand prêtre Azarias et tous les prêtres s'étant tournés vers lui, voici qu'il avait la lèpre au front. Ils le mirent précipitamment dehors, et lui-même se hâta de sortir, parce que Yahweh l'avait frappé.
21Le roi Ozias fut lépreux jusqu'au jour de sa mort, et il demeura dans une maison écartée, comme lépreux, car il fut exclu de la maison de Yahweh. Joatham, son fils, était à la tête de la maison du roi, jugeant le peuple du pays.
22Le reste des actes d'Ozias, les premiers et les derniers, Isaïe, fils d'Amos, le prophète les a écrits.
23Ozias se coucha avec ses pères dans le champ de la sépulture des rois, car on disait : " Il est lépreux. " Joatham, son fils, régna à sa place.

1ENTONCES todo el pueblo de Judá tomó á Uzzías, el cual era de diez y seis años, y pusiéronlo por rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.
2Edificó él á Eloth, y la restituyó á Judá después que el rey durmió con sus padres.
3De diez y seis años era Uzzías cuando comenzó á reinar, y cincuenta y dos años reinó en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Jechôlía, de Jerusalem.
4E hizo lo recto en los ojos de Jehová, conforme á todas las cosas que había hecho Amasías su padre.
5Y persistió en buscar á Dios en los días de Zachârías, entendido en visiones de Dios; y en estos días que él buscó á Jehová, él le prosperó.
6Y salió, y peleó contra los Filisteos, y rompió el muro de Gath, y el muro de Jabnia, y el muro de Asdod; y edificó ciudades en Asdod, y en la tierra de los Filisteos.
7Y dióle Dios ayuda contra los Filisteos, y contra los Arabes que habitaban en Gur-baal, y contra los Ammonitas.
8Y dieron los Ammonitas presentes á Uzzías, y divulgóse su nombre hasta la entrada de Egipto; porque se había hecho altamente poderoso.
9Edificó también Uzzías torres en Jerusalem, junto á la puerta del ángulo, y junto á la puerta del valle, y junto á las esquinas; y fortificólas.
10Asimismo edificó torres en el desierto, y abrió muchas cisternas: porque tuvo muchos ganados, así en los valles como en las vegas; y viñas, y labranzas, así en los montes como en los llanos fértiles; porque era amigo de la agricultura.
11Tuvo también Uzzías escuadrones de guerreros, los cuales salían á la guerra en ejército, según que estaban por lista hecha por mano de Jehiel escriba y de Maasías gobernador, y por mano de Hananías, uno de los príncipes del rey.
12Todo el número de los jefes de familias, valientes y esforzados, era dos mil y seiscientos.
13Y bajo la mano de éstos estaba el ejército de guerra, de trescientos siete mil y quinientos guerreros poderosos y fuertes para ayudar al rey contra los enemigos.
14Y aprestóles Uzzías para todo el ejército, escudos, lanzas, almetes, coseletes, arcos, y hondas de tirar piedras.
15E hizo en Jerusalem máquinas por industria de ingenieros, para que estuviesen en las torres y en los baluartes, para arrojar saetas y grandes piedras, y su fama se extendió lejos, porque se ayudó maravillosamente, hasta hacerse fuerte.
16Mas cuando fué fortificado, su corazón se enalteció hasta corromperse; porque se rebeló contra Jehová su Dios, entrando en el templo de Jehová para quemar sahumerios en el altar del perfume.
17Y entró tras él el sacerdote Azarías, y con él ochenta sacerdotes de Jehová, de los valientes.
18Y pusiéronse contra el rey Uzzías, y dijéronle: No á ti, oh Uzzías, el quemar perfume á Jehová, sino á los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para quemarlo: sal del santuario, por que has prevaricado, y no te será para gloria delante del Dios Jehová.
19Y airóse Uzzías, que tenía el perfume en la mano para quemarlo; y en esta su ira contra los sacerdotes, la lepra le salió en la frente delante de los sacerdotes en la casa de Jehová, junto al altar del perfume.
20Y miróle Azarías el sumo sacerdote, y todos los sacerdotes, y he aquí la lepra estaba en su frente; é hiciéronle salir apriesa de aquel lugar; y él también se dió priesa á salir, porque Jehová lo había herido.
21Así el rey Uzzías fué leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó en una casa apartada, leproso, por lo que había sido separado de la casa de Jehová; y Joatham su hijo tuvo cargo de la casa real, gobernando al pueblo de la tierra.
22Lo demás de los hechos de Uzzías, primeros y postreros, escribiólo Isaías profeta, hijo de Amós.
23Y durmió Uzzías con sus padres, y sepultáronlo con sus padres en el campo de los sepulcros reales; porque dijeron: Leproso es. Y reinó Joatham su hijo en lugar suyo.

1Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
2He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
3Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
4And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.
5And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.
6And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Mehunims.
8And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.
9Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.
10Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.
11Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.
12The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.
13And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.
15And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
16But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
17And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:
18And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.
19Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.
20And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.
21And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
22Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.
23So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

11Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.
12The whole number of the heads of fathers’ households, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand six hundred.
13Under their hand was an army, three hundred seven thousand five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the army, shields, spears, helmets, coats of mail, bows, and stones for slinging.
15In Jerusalem, he made devices, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. His name spread far abroad, because he was marvelously helped until he was strong.
16But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly and he trespassed against the LORD his God, for he went into the LORD’s temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.
17Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of the LORD, who were valiant men.
18They resisted Uzziah the king, and said to him, “It isn’t for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have trespassed. It will not be for your honor from the LORD God.”
19Then Uzziah was angry. He had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke out on his forehead before the priests in the LORD’s house, beside the altar of incense.
20Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead; and they thrust him out quickly from there. Indeed, he himself also hurried to go out, because the LORD had struck him.
21Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the LORD’s house. Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
