1Da nahm das ganze Volk Juda Usia, der war sechzehn Jahre alt, und machten ihn zum Konige an seines Vaters Amazia Statt.
2Derselbe bauete Eloth und brachte sie wieder an Juda, nachdem der Konig entschlafen war mit seinen Vatern.
3Sechzehn Jahre alt war Usia, da er Konig ward, und regierete zweiundfunfzig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieft Jechalja von Jerusalem.
4Und er tat, das dem HERRN wohlgefiel, wie sein Vater Amazia getan hatte.
5Und er suchte Gott, solange Sacharja lebte, der Lehrer in den Gesichten Gottes; und solange er den HERRN suchte, ließ ihm Gott gelingen.
6Denn er zog aus und stritt wider die Philister; und zerriß die Mauern zu Gath und die Mauern zu Jabne und die Mauern zu Asdod; und bauete Stadte um Asdod und unter den Philistern.
7Denn Gott half ihm wider die Philister, wider die Araber, wider die zu Gur-Baal und wider die Meuniter.
8Und die Ammoniter gaben Usia Geschenke, und er ward berühmt, bis man kommt nach Agypten, denn er ward immer starker und starker.
9Und Usia bauete Turme zu Jerusalem am Ecktor und am Taltor und an andern Ecken und befestigte sie.
10Er bauete auch Schlosser in der Wuste und grub viel Brunnen; denn er hatte viel Viehes, beide in den Auen und auf den Ebenen; auch Ackerleute und Weingartner an den Bergen und am Karmel, denn er hatte Lust zu Ackerwerk.
11Und Usia hatte eine Macht zum Streit, die ins Heer zogen, von Kriegsknechten, in der Zahl gerechnet, unter der Hand Jeiels, des Schreibers, und Maesejas, des Amtmanns, unter der Hand Hananjas aus den Obersten des Konigs.
12Und die Zahl der vornehmsten Vater unter den starken Kriegern war zweitausend und sechshundert.
13Und unter ihrer Hand die Heersmacht dreihunderttausend und siebentausend und funfhundert zum Streit geschickt in Heereskraft, zu helfen dem Konige wider die Feinde.
14Und Usia schickte ihnen fur das ganze Heer Schilde, Spieße, Helme, Panzer, Bogen und Schleudersteine.
15Und machte zu Jerusalem Brustwehren kunstlich, die auf den Türmen und Ecken sein sollten, zu schielien mit Pfeilen und graven Steinen. Und sein Gerucht kam weit aus, darum daß ihm sonderlich geholfen ward, bis er machtig ward.
16Und da er machtig worden war, erhub sich sein Herz zu seinem Verderben. Denn er vergriff sich an dem HERRN, seinem Gott, und ging in den Tempel des HERRN, zu rauchern auf dem Rauchaltar.
17Aber Asarja, der Priester, ging ihm nach und achtzig Priester des HERRN mit ihm, redliche Leute,
18und stunden wider Usia, den Konig, und sprachen zu ihm: Es gebuhrt dir, Usia, nicht, zu rauchern dem HERRN, sondern den Priestern, Aarons Kindern, die zu rauchern geheiliget sind. Gehe heraus aus dem Heiligtum, denn du vergreifest dich; und es wird dir keine Ehre sein vor Gott dem HERRN.
19Aber Usia ward zornig; und hatte ein Rauchfati in der Hand. Und da er mit den Priestern murrete, fuhr der Aussatz aus an seiner Stirn vor den Priestern im Hause des HERRN vor dem Rauchaltar.
20Und Asarja, der oberste Priester, wandte das Haupt zu ihm, und alle Priester, und siehe, da war er aussatzig an seiner Stirn; und sie stieüen ihn von dannen. Ereilete auch selbst, herauszugehen, denn seine Plage warvom HERRN.
21Also war Usia, der Konig, aussatzig bis an seinen Tod und wohnete in einem sondern Hause aussatzig; denn erward verstolien vom Hause des HERRN. Jotham aber, sein Sohn, stund des Konigs Hause vor und richtete das Volk im Lande.
22Was aber mehr von Usia zu sagen ist, beide das Erste und das Letzte, hat beschrieben der Prophet Jesaja, der Sohn Amoz.
23Und Usia entschlief mit seinen Vatern, und sie begruben ihn bei seinen Vatern im Acker bei dem Begrabnis der Konige; denn sie sprachen: Er ist aussatzig. Und Jotham, sein Sohn, ward Konig an seiner Statt.

1ENTONCES todo el pueblo de Judá tomó á Uzzías, el cual era de diez y seis años, y pusiéronlo por rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.
2Edificó él á Eloth, y la restituyó á Judá después que el rey durmió con sus padres.
3De diez y seis años era Uzzías cuando comenzó á reinar, y cincuenta y dos años reinó en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Jechôlía, de Jerusalem.
4E hizo lo recto en los ojos de Jehová, conforme á todas las cosas que había hecho Amasías su padre.
5Y persistió en buscar á Dios en los días de Zachârías, entendido en visiones de Dios; y en estos días que él buscó á Jehová, él le prosperó.
6Y salió, y peleó contra los Filisteos, y rompió el muro de Gath, y el muro de Jabnia, y el muro de Asdod; y edificó ciudades en Asdod, y en la tierra de los Filisteos.
7Y dióle Dios ayuda contra los Filisteos, y contra los Arabes que habitaban en Gur-baal, y contra los Ammonitas.
8Y dieron los Ammonitas presentes á Uzzías, y divulgóse su nombre hasta la entrada de Egipto; porque se había hecho altamente poderoso.
9Edificó también Uzzías torres en Jerusalem, junto á la puerta del ángulo, y junto á la puerta del valle, y junto á las esquinas; y fortificólas.
10Asimismo edificó torres en el desierto, y abrió muchas cisternas: porque tuvo muchos ganados, así en los valles como en las vegas; y viñas, y labranzas, así en los montes como en los llanos fértiles; porque era amigo de la agricultura.
11Tuvo también Uzzías escuadrones de guerreros, los cuales salían á la guerra en ejército, según que estaban por lista hecha por mano de Jehiel escriba y de Maasías gobernador, y por mano de Hananías, uno de los príncipes del rey.
12Todo el número de los jefes de familias, valientes y esforzados, era dos mil y seiscientos.
13Y bajo la mano de éstos estaba el ejército de guerra, de trescientos siete mil y quinientos guerreros poderosos y fuertes para ayudar al rey contra los enemigos.
14Y aprestóles Uzzías para todo el ejército, escudos, lanzas, almetes, coseletes, arcos, y hondas de tirar piedras.
15E hizo en Jerusalem máquinas por industria de ingenieros, para que estuviesen en las torres y en los baluartes, para arrojar saetas y grandes piedras, y su fama se extendió lejos, porque se ayudó maravillosamente, hasta hacerse fuerte.
16Mas cuando fué fortificado, su corazón se enalteció hasta corromperse; porque se rebeló contra Jehová su Dios, entrando en el templo de Jehová para quemar sahumerios en el altar del perfume.
17Y entró tras él el sacerdote Azarías, y con él ochenta sacerdotes de Jehová, de los valientes.
18Y pusiéronse contra el rey Uzzías, y dijéronle: No á ti, oh Uzzías, el quemar perfume á Jehová, sino á los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para quemarlo: sal del santuario, por que has prevaricado, y no te será para gloria delante del Dios Jehová.
19Y airóse Uzzías, que tenía el perfume en la mano para quemarlo; y en esta su ira contra los sacerdotes, la lepra le salió en la frente delante de los sacerdotes en la casa de Jehová, junto al altar del perfume.
20Y miróle Azarías el sumo sacerdote, y todos los sacerdotes, y he aquí la lepra estaba en su frente; é hiciéronle salir apriesa de aquel lugar; y él también se dió priesa á salir, porque Jehová lo había herido.
21Así el rey Uzzías fué leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó en una casa apartada, leproso, por lo que había sido separado de la casa de Jehová; y Joatham su hijo tuvo cargo de la casa real, gobernando al pueblo de la tierra.
22Lo demás de los hechos de Uzzías, primeros y postreros, escribiólo Isaías profeta, hijo de Amós.
23Y durmió Uzzías con sus padres, y sepultáronlo con sus padres en el campo de los sepulcros reales; porque dijeron: Leproso es. Y reinó Joatham su hijo en lugar suyo.

1Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
2He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
3Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
4And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.
5And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.
6And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Mehunims.
8And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.
9Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.
10Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.
11Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.
12The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.
13And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.
15And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
16But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
17And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:
18And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.
19Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.
20And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.
21And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
22Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.
23So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

11Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.
12The whole number of the heads of fathers’ households, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand six hundred.
13Under their hand was an army, three hundred seven thousand five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the army, shields, spears, helmets, coats of mail, bows, and stones for slinging.
15In Jerusalem, he made devices, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. His name spread far abroad, because he was marvelously helped until he was strong.
16But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly and he trespassed against the LORD his God, for he went into the LORD’s temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.
17Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of the LORD, who were valiant men.
18They resisted Uzziah the king, and said to him, “It isn’t for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have trespassed. It will not be for your honor from the LORD God.”
19Then Uzziah was angry. He had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke out on his forehead before the priests in the LORD’s house, beside the altar of incense.
20Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead; and they thrust him out quickly from there. Indeed, he himself also hurried to go out, because the LORD had struck him.
21Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the LORD’s house. Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
