Venticinque anni aveva Amasia quando principiò a regnare, e ventinove anni regnò in Gerusalemme: sua madre ebbe nome Joadan, ed era di Gerusalemme.

DE VEINTICINCO años era Amasías cuando comenzó á reinar, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalem: el nombre de su madre fué Joaddan, de Jerusalem.

Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

Ed egli fece il bene nel cospetto del Signore; ma non con cuore perfetto.

E quando vide assicurato il suo regno, fece scannare i servi, che avean ucciso il re suo padre.

Y luego que fué confirmado en el reino, mató á sus siervos que habían muerto al rey su padre;

Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.

Ma non fece morire i loro figliuoli, conforme sta scritto nel libro della legge di Mosè, dove il Signore ordinò, e disse: Non saranno uccisi i padri pe' figliuoli, né i figliuoli pei padri loro: ciascheduno morrà pel suo proprio peccato.

But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.

Amasia pertanto convocò Giuda, e li distribuì nelle sue famiglie, e diede dei tribuni, e dei centurioni a tutto il popol di Giuda, e di Benjamin: e ne fece il censo dai venti anni in su, e trovò trecento mila giovani atti alla guerra, armati di scudo, e di lancia.

Juntó luego Amasías á Judá, y con arreglo á las familias púsoles tribunos y centuriones por todo Judá y Benjamín; y tomólos por lista de veinte años arriba, y fueron hallados en ellos trescientos mil escogidos para salir á la guerra, que tenían lanza y escudo.

Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.

E assoldò ancora cento mila uomini valorosi d'Israele, pagando cento talenti di oro.

Y de Israel tomó á sueldo cien mil hombres valientes, por cien talentos de plata.

Ma un uomo di Dio andò a lui, e gli disse: Non venga teco, o re, l'esercito d'Israele: perocché il Signore non è con Israele, né coi figliuoli di Ephraim.

Mas un varón de Dios vino á él, diciéndole: Rey, no vaya contigo el ejército de Israel; porque Jehová no es con Israel, ni con todos los hijos de Ephraim.

But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim.

Che se tu ti pensi, che tutto in guerra dipenda dalla forza dell'esercito, Dio farà, che tu sii vinto da' nemici: perocché in mano di Dio sta il dare aiuto, o mettere in fuga.

Pero si tú vas, si lo haces, y te esfuerzas para pelear, Dios te hará caer delante de los enemigos; porque en Dios está la fortaleza, ó para ayudar, ó para derribar.

But if thou wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.

But if you will go, take action, and be strong for the battle. God will overthrow you before the enemy; for God has power to help, and to overthrow.”

E Amasia disse all'uom di Dio: E che sarà egli de' cento talenti dati da me ai soldati d'Israele? E l'uom di Dio gli rispose: Il Signore ha il modo di poterne rendere a te molti più.

Y Amasías dijo al varón de Dios: ¿Qué pues se hará de cien talentos que he dado al ejército de Israel? Y el varón de Dios respondió: De Jehová es darte mucho más que esto.

And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.

Allora Amasia separò l'esercito, che gli era venuto da Ephraim, affinchè se ne tornasse al suo paese. E questo sdegnati forte contro di Giuda se n'andarono a casa loro.

Entonces Amasías apartó el escuadrón de la gente que había venido á él de Ephraim, para que se fuesen á sus casas: y ellos se enojaron grandemente contra Judá, y volviéronse á sus casas encolerizados.

Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.

E Amasia con fidanza diede la mossa alle sue genti, e andò nella valle delle Saline, e sconfisse i figliuoli di Seir in numero di dieci mila.

Esforzándose entonces Amasías, sacó su pueblo, y vino al valle de la Sal: é hirió de los hijos de Seir diez mil.

And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.

E altri dieci mila uomini li fecero prigionieri i figliuoli di Giuda, e li condussero sopra un masso scosceso, e li precipitarono da quell'altura al basso, e tutti quanti si fracassarono.

Y los hijos de Judá tomaron vivos otros diez mil, los cuales llevaron á la cumbre de un peñasco, y de allí los despeñaron, y todos se hicieron pedazos.

Ma quell'esercito licenziato da Amasia, per non condurlo seco alla guerra, si sparse per le città di Giuda da Samaria sino a Bethoron, e uccise tre mila persone, e portò via molta preda.

Empero los del escuadrón que Amasías había despedido, porque no fuesen con él á la guerra, derramáronse sobre las ciudades de Judá, desde Samaria hasta Beth-oron, é hirieron de ellos tres mil, y tomaron un grande despojo.

But the soldiers of the army which Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-horon, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil.

Ma Amasia dopo la strage degl'Idumei, e dopo aver portato seco gli dei de' figliuoli di Seir, se gli fece suoi dei, e gli adorava, e bruciava loro degl'incensi.

Regresando luego Amasías de la matanza de los Idumeos, trajo también consigo los dioses de los hijos de Seir, y púsoselos para sí por dioses, y encorvóse delante de ellos, y quemóles perfumes.

Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.

Per la qual cosa sdegnato il Signore contro di Amasia, mandò a lui un profeta, affinchè gli dicesse: Per qual motivo adori tu degli dei, i quali non salvarono il loro popolo dalle tue mani?

Encendióse por tanto el furor de Jehová contra Amasías, y envió á él un profeta, que le dijo: ¿Por qué has buscado los dioses de gente, que no libraron á su pueblo de tus manos?

Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?

Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet who said to him, “Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of your hand?”

E mentre in tal guisa parlava a lui il profeta, egli rispose: Se' tu forse consigliere del re? Taci, che io non ti faccia morire. E il profeta partendo disse: Io so, che Dio ha risolto di farti perire per questo male, che hai fatto e perchè di più non hai dato retta a' miei consigli.

Y hablándole el profeta estas cosas, él le respondió: ¿Hante puesto á ti por consejero del rey? Déjate de eso: ¿por qué quieres que te maten? Y al cesar, el profeta dijo luego: Yo sé que Dios ha acordado destruirte, porque has hecho esto, y no obedeciste á mi consejo.

And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.

As he talked with him, the king said to him, “Have we made you one of the king’s counselors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped, and said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

Or Amasia re di Giuda con pessimo consiglio mandò a dire a Gioas figliuolo di Joachaz, figliuolo di Jehu, re d'Israele: Vieni, affinchè ci veggiamo tra noi.

Y Amasías rey de Judá, habido su consejo, envió á decir á Joas, hijo de Joachâz hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel: Ven, y veámonos cara á cara.

Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us see one another in the face.

Then Amaziah king of Judah consulted his advisers, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come! Let’s look one another in the face.”

Ma questi rimandò i messi con dire: Il cardo, che è sul Libano, mandò a dire al cedro del Libano: Dà la tua figlia per moglie al mio figliuolo: ma ad un tratto le fiere, che erano nei boschi del Libano, in passando, calpestarono il cardo.

Entonces Joas rey de Israel envió á decir á Amasías rey de Judá: El cardo que estaba en el Líbano, envió al cedro que estaba en el Líbano, diciendo: Da tu hija á mi hijo por mujer. Y he aquí que las bestias fieras que estaban en el Líbano, pasaron, y hollaron el cardo.

And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.

Tu hai detto: Io ho sconfitti gl'Idumei; e per questo il cuor tuo si è levato in superbia: stattene a sedere in casa tua: perchè ti cerchi tu dei malanni per andar per terra tu, e Giuda con teco?

Tú dices: He aquí he herido á Edom; y tu corazón se enaltece para gloriarte: ahora estáte en tu casa; ¿para qué te entrometes en mal, para caer tú y Judá contigo?

Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thine heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

You say to yourself that you have struck Edom; and your heart lifts you up to boast. Now stay at home. Why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall, even you and Judah with you?’”

Amasia non volle ascoltarlo, per chè era voler del Signore, ch'ei fosse dato in potere de' suoi nemici a causa degli dei di Edom.

Mas Amasías no quiso oir; porque estaba de Dios, que los quería entregar en manos de sus enemigos, por cuanto habían buscado los dioses de Edom.

But Amaziah would not hear; for it came of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom.

Per la qual cosa Gioas re d'Israele si mosse, e vennero in presenza l'uno dell'altro. E Amasia re di Giuda era in Bethsames di Giuda:

Subió pues Joas rey de Israel, y viéronse cara á cara él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Beth-semes, la cual es de Judá.

So Joash the king of Israel went up; and they saw one another in the face, both he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

E Giuda non potè stare a petto con Israele, e se ne fuggi alle sue tende.

Pero cayó Judá delante de Israel, y huyó cada uno á su estancia.

And Judah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fled every man to his tent.

E Amasia re di Giuda, figliuolo di Gioas, figliuolo di Joachaz, fu fatto prigioniere da Gioas re d'Israele, in Bethsames, e fu condotto da lui a Gerusalemme. E Gioas abbattè la muraglia (della città) dalla porta di Ephraim sino alla porta dell'angolo per quattrocento cubiti.

Y Joas rey de Israel prendió en Beth-semes á Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joas hijo de Joachâz, y llevólo á Jerusalem: y derribó el muro de Jerusalem desde la puerta de Ephraim hasta la puerta del ángulo, cuatrocientos codos.

And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

E tutto l'oro, e l'argento, e tutti quanti i vasi, ch'ei trovò nella casa di Dio, e nelle stanze di Obededom, e anche nei tesori della casa reale li portò a Samaria, e anche i figliuoli degli ostaggi.

Asimismo tomó todo el oro y plata, y todos los vasos que se hallaron en la casa de Dios en casa de Obed-edom, y los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los hijos de los príncipes, y volvióse á Samaria.

And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

Il rimanente poi delle azioni di Amasia, le prime, e le ultime sono scritte nel libro dei re di Giuda, e d'Israele.

E dopo che egli si fu allontanato dal Signore, fu ordita una congiura contro di lui in Gerusalemme. Ed essendo egli fuggito a Lachis, colà mandaron gente ad ucciderlo.

Desde aquel tiempo que Amasías se apartó de Jehová, maquinaron contra él conjuración en Jerusalem; y habiendo él huído á Lachîs, enviaron tras él á Lachîs, y allá lo mataron;

E riportatolo sopra un cocchio, lo seppellirono co' padri suoi nella città di David. E' celebrata la pietà di Ozia figliuolo di Amasia. Egli trionfa de' Filistei, degli Ammoniti, e degli Arabi, ed edifica molte città; ma dipoi invanitosi per la troppa felicità, presume di offerire l'incenso; per la qual cosa fu afflitto dal Signore colla lebbra sino al giorno della sua morte; e Joatham suo figliuolo ebbe il governo del regno, e a lui succedette.

Y trajéronlo en caballos, y sepultáronlo con sus padres en la ciudad de Judá.
