1Und Josaphat legte sich zu seinen Vätern und ward bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids begraben. Und sein Sohn Jehoram ward König an seiner Statt.
2Derselbe hatte Brüder, die Söhne Josaphats: Asarja, Jehïel, Secharjahu, Asarjahu, Michael und Sephatjahu; diese alle waren Söhne Josaphats, des Königs von Israel.
3Und ihr Vater hatte ihnen große Geschenke gemacht an Silber und Gold und Kleinodien nebst befestigten Städten in Juda; aber die Königswürde verlieh er Jehoram, denn dieser war der Erstgeborene.
4Als nun Jehoram zur Herrschaft über das Reich seines Vaters gelangt war und sich befestigt hatte, ließ er seine sämtlichen Brüder, sowie etliche von den obersten Beamten Israels niedermetzeln.
5Zweiunddreißig Jahre war Jehoram alt, als er König ward, und acht Jahre regierte er zu Jerusalem.
6Und er wandelte auf dem Wege der Könige von Israel, wie die vom Hause Ahabs thaten; denn er hatte die Tochter Ahabs zum Weibe. Also that er, was Jahwe mißfiel.
7Aber Jahwe wollte das Haus Davids nicht verderben, um der feierlichen Zusage willen, die er David gegeben, und gemäß dem, was er verheißen hatte, daß er ihm und seinen Nachkommen allezeit eine Leuchte verleihen wolle.
8Unter seiner Regierung machten sich die Edomiter von der Obergewalt Judas los und setzten einen König über sich.
9Da zog Jehoram mit seinen Obersten und mit sämltichen Streitwagen hinüber. Da erhob er sich des Nachts und schlug die Edomiter, die ihn umzingelt hielten, sowie die Obersten über die Streitwagen.
10So wurden die Edomiter von der Obergewalt Judas abtrünnig bis auf den heutigen Tag. Damals machte sich um dieselbe Zeit auch Libna von seiner Obergewalt los, weil er von Jahwe, dem Gotte seiner Väter, abgefallen war.
11Auch er errichtete Opferhöhen in den Städten Judas, verführte die Bewohner Jerusalems zur Abgötterei und machte Juda abwendig.
12Da gelangte an ihn ein Schreiben vom Propheten Elia des Inhalts: So spricht Jahwe, der Gott deines Ahnherrn Davids: Dafür, daß du nicht in den Wegen deines Vaters Josaphat und in den Wegen Asas, des Königs von Juda, gewandelt hast,
13vielmehr in der Weise der Könige von Israel wandeltest und Juda und die Bewohner Jerusalems zur Abgötterei verführtest, so wie das Haus Ahabs zur Abgötterei verführte, überdies auch deine Brüder, die Glieder deiner Familie, die besser waren, als du, ermorden ließest,
14wird Jahwe einen gewaltigen Schlag gegen dein Volk, deine Söhne und Frauen und deine gesamte Habe führen. Du selbst aber wirst in schweres Siechtum, in eine Krankheit der Eingeweide, verfallen, so daß über Jahr und Tag infolge der Krankheit deine Eingeweide heraustreten werden!
15Und Jahwe erregte wider Jehoram die Wut der Philister und der Araber, die neben den Kuschiten wohnen,
16daß sie gegen Juda anrückten, es eroberten und die gesamte Fahrhabe, die sich im Palaste des Königs vorfand, dazu auch seine Söhne und Frauen als Beute hinwegführten; es blieb ihm kein Sohn, außer Joachas, der jüngste von seinen Söhnen.
17Nach alledem aber strafte ihn Jahwe mit einer unheilbaren Krankheit seiner Eingeweide.
18Und über Jahr und Tag, und zwar um die Zeit, wo das Ende zweier Jahre ablief, traten ihm infolge seiner Krankheit die Eingeweide heraus, und er starb unter bösen Schmerzen. Sein Volk aber veranstaltete ihm keinen Brand, wie dies bei seinen Vätern geschehen war.
19Zweiunddreißig Jahre war er alt, als er König wurde, und acht Jahre regierte er zu Jerusalem. Er fuhr dahin, ohne daß ihn jemand zurückgewünscht hätte, und man begrub ihn in der Stadt Davids, doch nicht in den Gräbern der Könige.

1Y DURMIÓ Josaphat con sus padres, y sepultáronlo con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar Joram su hijo.
2Este tuvo hermanos, hijos de Josaphat, á Azarías, Jehiel, Zachârías, Azarías, Michâel, y Sephatías. Todos estos fueron hijos de Josaphat rey de Israel.
3Y su padre les había dado muchos dones de oro y de plata, y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fuertes en Judá; mas había dado el reino á Joram, porque él era el primogénito.
4Fué pues elevado Joram al reino de su padre; y luego que se hizo fuerte, mató á cuchillo á todos sus hermanos, y asimismo algunos de los príncipes de Israel.
5Cuando comenzó á reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalem.
6Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Achâb; porque tenía por mujer la hija de Achâb, é hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová.
7Mas Jehová no quiso destruir la casa de David, á causa de la alianza que con David había hecho, y porque le había dicho que le daría lámpara á él y á sus hijos perpetuamente.
8En los días de éste se rebeló la Idumea, para no estar bajo el poder de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.
9Entonces pasó Joram con sus príncipes, y consigo todos sus carros; y levantóse de noche, é hirió á los Idumeos que le habían cercado, y á todos los comandantes de sus carros.
10Con todo eso Edom quedó rebelado, sin estar bajo la mano de Judá hasta hoy. También se rebeló en el mismo tiempo Libna para no estar bajo su mano; por cuanto él había dejado á Jehová el Dios de sus padres.
11Demás de esto hizo altos en los montes de Judá, é hizo que los moradores de Jerusalem fornicasen, y á ello impelió á Judá.
12Y viniéronle letras del profeta Elías, que decían: Jehová, el Dios de David tu padre, ha dicho así: Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josaphat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa, rey de Judá,
13Antes has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que fornicase Judá, y los moradores de Jerusalem, como fornicó la casa de Achâb; y además has muerto á tus hermanos, á la familia de tu padre, los cuales eran mejores que tú:
14He aquí Jehová herirá tu pueblo de una grande plaga, y á tus hijos y á tus mujeres, y á toda tu hacienda;
15Y á ti con muchas enfermedades, con enfermedad de tus entrañas, hasta que las entrañas se te salgan á causa de la enfermedad de cada día.
16Entonces despertó Jehová contra Joram el espíritu de los Filisteos, y de los Arabes que estaban junto á los Etiopes;
17Y subieron contra Judá, é invadieron la tierra, y tomaron toda la hacienda que hallaron en la casa del rey, y á sus hijos, y á sus mujeres; que no le quedó hijo, sino Joachâz el menor de sus hijos.
18Después de todo esto Jehová lo hirió en las entrañas de una enfermedad incurable.
19Y aconteció que, pasando un día tras otro, al fin, al cabo de dos años, las entrañas se le salieron con la enfermedad, muriendo así de enfermedad muy penosa. Y no le hizo quema su pueblo, como las había hecho á sus padres.
20Cuando comenzó á reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó en Jerusalem ocho años; y fuése sin ser deseado. Y sepultáronlo en la ciudad de David, mas no en los sepulcros de los reyes.

1Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
2And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
3And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.
4Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.
5Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
6And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.
7Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.
8In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.
9Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.
10So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.
11Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.
12And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
13But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father’s house, which were better than thyself:
14Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:
15And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.
16Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:
17And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
18And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
19And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.
20Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.

4Now when Jehoram had risen up over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he killed all his brothers with the sword, and also some of the princes of Israel.

12A letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “the LORD, the God of David your father, says, ‘Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
13but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the prostitute like Ahab’s house did, and also have slain your brothers of your father’s house, who were better than yourself,
14behold, the LORD will strike your people with a great plague, including your children, your wives, and all your possessions;
15and you will have great sickness with a disease of your bowels, until your bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.’”
16The LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and of the Arabians who are beside the Ethiopians;
17and they came up against Judah, broke into it, and carried away all the possessions that were found in the king’s house, including his sons and his wives, so that there was no son left to him except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
18After all this the LORD struck him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
19In process of time, at the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness, and he died of severe diseases. His people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.
20He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He departed with no one’s regret. They buried him in David’s city, but not in the tombs of the kings.
