37Aber Elieser, der Sohn Dodawas, aus Maresa, sprach gegen Josaphat die Weissagung aus: »Weil du dich in ein Bündnis mit Ahasja eingelassen hast, wird der HERR dein Machwerk zerstören!« So scheiterten denn die Schiffe und kamen nicht dazu, nach Tharsis zu fahren.

37Then Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD hath broken thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.

37Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, “Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, the LORD has destroyed your works.” The ships were wrecked, so that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
