1Et Josaphat, son fils, régna à sa place, et il se fortifia contre Israël.
2Et il mit des troupes dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda, et il mit des garnisons dans tout le pays de Juda et dans les villes d'Ephraïm qu'Asa son père avait prises.
3Et l'Eternel fut avec Josaphat parce qu'il marchait dans les premières voies de David, son père, et qu'il ne cherchait point les Baals ;
4car il cherchait le Dieu de son père et il marchait dans ses commandements, et non comme faisait Israël.
5Et l'Eternel affermit la royauté dans sa main, et tout Juda donna des présents à Josaphat, et il eut en abondance des richesses et de la gloire.
6Et son courage grandit dans les voies de l'Eternel, et il fit encore disparaître de Juda les hauts-lieux et les aschères.
7Et la troisième année de son règne, il envoya ses chefs Ben-Haïl, Abdias, Zacharie, Néthanéel et Michée, pour enseigner dans les villes de Juda,
8et avec eux les Lévites Sémaja, Néthania, Zébadia, Asaël, Sémiramoth, Jonathan, Adonija, Tobija et Tob-Adonija, lévites, et avec eux Elisama et Joram, sacrificateurs.
9Et ils enseignèrent dans Juda, ayant avec eux le livre de la loi de l'Eternel ; et ils firent le tour de toutes les villes de Juda, et ils enseignèrent parmi le peuple.
10Et la frayeur de l'Eternel fut sur tous les royaumes des pays qui entouraient Juda, et ils ne firent pas la guerre à Josaphat.
11Et il y eut des Philistins qui apportèrent à Josaphat des présents et de l'argent en masse ; et les Arabes lui amenèrent aussi du menu bétail, sept mille sept cents béliers et sept mille sept cents boucs.
12Et Josaphat alla grandissant jusqu'au plus haut point, et il bâtit en Juda des châteaux et des villes de magasins.
13Et il avait de grandes provisions dans les villes de Juda, et des gens de guerre, hommes forts et vaillants, à Jérusalem.
14Et voici leur dénombrement, selon leurs maisons patriarcales : de Juda, comme chefs de milliers, Adna, le chef, avec trois cent mille hommes forts et vaillants ;
15et à ses côtés, Johanan, le chef, avec deux cent quatre-vingt mille hommes ;
16et à ses côtés, Amasia, fils de Zicri, qui s'était volontairement consacré à l'Eternel, avec deux cent mille hommes forts et vaillants.
17Et de Benjamin : Eljada, homme fort et vaillant, avec deux cent mille hommes armés d'arcs et de boucliers ;
18et à ses côtés, Jozabad, avec cent quatre-vingt mille hommes armés pour la guerre.
19Tels sont ceux qui étaient au service du roi, outre ceux que le roi avait placés dans les villes fortes, dans tout Juda.

1Y REINÓ en su lugar Josaphat su hijo, el cual prevaleció contra Israel.
2Y puso ejército en todas las ciudades fuertes de Judá, y colocó gente de guarnición, en tierra de Judá, y asimismo en las ciudades de Ephraim que su padre Asa había tomado.
3Y fué Jehová con Josaphat, porque anduvo en los primeros caminos de David su padre, y no buscó á los Baales;
4Sino que buscó al Dios de su padre, y anduvo en sus mandamientos, y no según las obras de Israel.
5Jehová por tanto confirmó el reino en su mano, y todo Judá dió á Josaphat presentes; y tuvo riquezas y gloria en abundancia.
6Y animóse su corazón en los caminos de Jehová, y quitó los altos y los bosques de Judá.
7Al tercer año de su reinado envió sus príncipes Ben-hail, Obdías, Zachârías, Nathaniel y Michêas, para que enseñasen en las ciudades de Judá;
8Y con ellos á los Levitas, Semeías, Nethanías, Zebadías, y Asael, y Semiramoth, y Jonathán, y Adonías, y Tobías, y Tobadonías, Levitas; y con ellos á Elisama y á Joram, sacerdotes.
9Y enseñaron en Judá, teniendo consigo el libro de la ley de Jehová, y rodearon por todas las ciudades de Judá enseñando al pueblo.
10Y cayó el pavor de Jehová sobre todos los reinos de las tierras que estaban alrededor de Judá; que no osaron hacer guerra contra Josaphat.
11Y traían de los Filisteos presentes á Josaphat, y tributos de plata. Los Arabes también le trajeron ganados, siete mil y setecientos carneros y siete mil y setecientos machos de cabrío.
12Iba pues Josaphat creciendo altamente: y edificó en Judá fortalezas y ciudades de depósitos.
13Tuvo además muchas obras en las ciudades de Judá, y hombres de guerra muy valientes en Jerusalem.
14Y este es el número de ellos según las casas de sus padres: en Judá, jefes de los millares: el general Adna, y con él trescientos mil hombres muy esforzados;
15Después de él, el jefe Johanán, y con él doscientos y ochenta mil;
16Tras éste, Amasías hijo de Zichri, el cual se había ofrecido voluntariamente á Jehová, y con él doscientos mil hombres valientes;
17De Benjamín, Eliada, hombre muy valeroso, y con él doscientos mil armados de arco y escudo;
18Tras éste, Jozabad, y con él ciento y ochenta mil apercibidos para la guerra.
19Estos eran siervos del rey, sin los que había el rey puesto en las ciudades de guarnición por toda Judea.

1And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
2And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
3And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
4But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
5Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
6And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
7Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Ben-hail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
8And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
9And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
10And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
11Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
12And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
13And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.
14And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
15And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
16And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
17And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
18And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
19These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.

3The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals,
4but sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not in the ways of Israel.
5Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand. All Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and honor in abundance.
6His heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD. Furthermore, he took away the high places and the Asherah poles out of Judah.
7Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;
8and with them Levites, even Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
