1Und Abia legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn in der Davidsstadt; und sein Sohn Asa wurde König an seiner Statt. Während der Zeit (seiner Regierung) hatte das Land zehn Jahre lang Ruhe. (1) die Lutherbibel hat für 14,1-15 die Zählung 13,23; 14,1-14. (a) 1Kön 15:8
2UND Asa tat, was recht war und dem Herrn, seinem Gott, wohlgefiel: (a) 1Kön 15:11-14
3er beseitigte die fremden Altäre und die Höhenheiligtümer, zerbrach die Malsteine und hieb die Ascheren um;
4er gebot den Judäern, den Herrn, den Gott ihrer Väter, zu suchen und sein Gesetz und Gebot zu erfüllen.
5Aus allen Städten Judas beseitigte er die Höhenheiligtümer und die Sonnensäulen. Und das Reich hatte unter ihm Ruhe.
6Er baute in Juda Festungen; denn das Land hatte Ruhe, und es wurde gegen ihn in jenen Jahren kein Krieg geführt, weil der Herr ihm Ruhe verschafft hatte.
7Und er sprach zu den Judäern: Wir wollen diese Städte ausbauen und sie mit Mauern umgeben und mit Türmen, Toren und Riegeln, solange wir noch Herren im Lande sind. Weil wir nach dem Herrn, unserm Gott, gefragt haben, hat er nach uns gefragt, uns ringsumher Ruhe verschafft und uns Gelingen gegeben.
8Und Asa hatte ein Heer von 300 000 Mann aus Juda, die Schild und Speer trugen, und 280 000 Mann aus Benjamin, welche die Tartsche trugen und den Bogen spannten, allesamt tapfere Krieger.
9Es zog aber Serah, der Kuschite, wider sie heran mit einem Heere von 1 000 000 Mann und mit dreihundert Kriegswagen und kam bis Maresa.
10Da rückte auch Asa gegen ihn aus, und sie rüsteten sich zum Kampf im Tale Zephatha bei Maresa.
11Und Asa rief zum Herrn, seinem Gott, und sprach: O Herr, ausser dir ist keiner, der helfen könnte im Streite zwischen einem Starken und einem Kraftlosen. So hilf uns, Herr, unser Gott; denn auf dich stützen wir uns, und in deinem Namen sind wir gegen diesen grossen Haufen ausgezogen. O Herr, du bist unser Gott; kein Mensch vermag etwas dir gegenüber! 12Da liess der Herr die Kuschiten im Kampfe mit Asa und den Judäern unterliegen, sodass die Kuschiten flohen.
13Und Asa und seine Leute verfolgten sie bis nach Gerar, und es fiel von den Kuschiten eine solche Menge, dass keiner am Leben blieb; denn sie wurden zerschmettert vor dem Herrn und vor seiner Heerschar. Und die Judäer trugen sehr viel Beute davon.
14Sie vernichteten auch alle Städte in der Umgebung von Gerar; denn über diese war der Schrecken des Herrn gekommen. Und sie plünderten alle Städte; es war nämlich grosse Beute darin.
15Und auch die Zelte mit den Viehherden schlugen sie und führten Schafe in Menge und Kamele hinweg und kehrten nach Jerusalem zurück.

1Y DURMIÓ Abías con sus padres, y fué sepultado en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar su hijo Asa, en cuyos días tuvo sosiego el país por diez años.
2E hizo Asa lo bueno y lo recto en los ojos de Jehová su Dios.
3Porque quitó los altares del culto ajeno, y los altos; quebró las imágenes, y taló los bosques;
4Y mandó á Judá que buscasen á Jehová el Dios de sus padres, y pusiesen por obra la ley y sus mandamientos.
5Quitó asimismo de todas las ciudades de Judá los altos y las imágenes, y estuvo el reino quieto delante de él.
6Y edificó ciudades fuertes en Judá, por cuanto había paz en la tierra, y no había guerra contra él en aquellos tiempos; porque Jehová le había dado reposo.
7Dijo por tanto á Judá: Edifiquemos estas ciudades, y cerquémoslas de muros con torres, puertas, y barras, ya que la tierra es nuestra: porque hemos buscado á Jehová nuestro Dios, hémosle buscado, y él nos ha dado reposo de todas partes. Edificaron pues, y fueron prosperados.
8Tuvo también Asa ejército que traía escudos y lanzas: de Judá trescientos mil, y de Benjamín doscientos y ochenta mil que traían escudos y flechaban arcos; todos hombres diestros.
9Y salió contra ellos Zera Etiope con un ejército de mil millares, y trescientos carros; y vino hasta Maresa.
10Entonces salió Asa contra él, y ordenaron la batalla en el valle de Sephata junto á Maresa.
11Y clamó Asa á Jehová su Dios, y dijo: Jehová, no tienes tú más con el grande que con el que ninguna fuerza tiene, para dar ayuda. Ayúdanos, oh Jehová Dios nuestro, porque en ti nos apoyamos, y en tu nombre venimos contra este ejército. Oh Jehová, tú eres nuestro Dios: no prevalezca contra ti el hombre.
12Y Jehová deshizo los Etiopes delante de Asa y delante de Judá; y huyeron los Etiopes.
13Y Asa, y el pueblo que con él estaba, lo siguió hasta Gerar: y cayeron los Etiopes hasta no quedar en ellos aliento; porque fueron deshechos delante de Jehová y de su ejército. Y les tomaron muy grande despojo.
14Batieron también todas las ciudades alrededor de Gerar, porque el terror de Jehová fué sobre ellos: y saquearon todas las ciudades, porque había en ellas gran despojo.
15Asimismo dieron sobre las cabañas de los ganados, y trajeron muchas ovejas y camellos, y volviéronse á Jerusalem.

1So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.
2And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God:
3For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:
4And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
5Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.
6And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest.
7Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
8And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.
9And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah.
10Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
11And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.
12So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
13And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil.
14And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the LORD came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them.
15They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem.

1So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in David’s city; and Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days, the land was quiet ten years.
2Asa did that which was good and right in the LORD his God’s eyes,
3for he took away the foreign altars and the high places, broke down the pillars, cut down the Asherah poles,
4and commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to obey his law and command.
5Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun images; and the kingdom was quiet before him.
6He built fortified cities in Judah; for the land was quiet, and he had no war in those years, because the LORD had given him rest.
7For he said to Judah, “Let’s build these cities and make walls around them, with towers, gates, and bars. The land is yet before us, because we have sought the LORD our God. We have sought him, and he has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered.
8Asa had an army of three hundred thousand out of Judah who bore bucklers and spears, and two hundred eighty thousand out of Benjamin who bore shields and drew bows. All these were mighty men of valor.
9Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million troops and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.
10Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
11Asa cried to the LORD his God, and said, “LORD, there is no one besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, LORD our God; for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. LORD, you are our God. Don’t let man prevail against you.”
12So the LORD struck the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
13Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar. So many of the Ethiopians fell that they could not recover themselves, for they were destroyed before the LORD and before his army. Judah’s army carried away very much booty.
14They struck all the cities around Gerar, for the fear of the LORD came on them. They plundered all the cities, for there was much plunder in them.
15They also struck the tents of those who had livestock, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, then returned to Jerusalem.
