1Was Knechte sind, im Sklavenstand, die sollen ihre eigenen Herren aller Ehre wert halten, damit nicht der Name Gottes und die Lehre verlästert werden.
2Die aber, welche gläubige Herren haben, sollen diese darum nicht verachten, weil sie Brüder sind, sondern ihnen um so lieber dienen, weil sie Gläubige und Geliebte sind und von ihnen auch bessere Behandlung erfahren. So sollst du lehren und ermahnen!
3Wenn jemand anders lehrt und sich nicht an die gesunden Worte unsres Herrn Jesus Christus hält und an die der Gottseligkeit entsprechende Lehre,
4so ist er aufgeblasen und versteht doch nichts, sondern krankt an Streitfragen und Wortgezänk, woraus Neid, Hader, Lästerung, böser Argwohn entstehen.
5Zänkereien von Menschen, welche verdorbenen Sinnes und der Wahrheit beraubt sind und die Gottseligkeit für eine Erwerbsquelle halten, von solchen halte dich ferne!
6Es ist allerdings die Gottseligkeit eine bedeutende Erwerbsquelle, wenn sie mit Genügsamkeit verbunden wird.
7Denn wir haben nichts in die Welt gebracht; so ist es klar, daß wir auch nichts hinausnehmen können.
8Wenn wir aber Nahrung und Kleidung haben, soll uns das genügen!
9Denn die, welche reich werden wollen, fallen in Versuchung und Schlingen und viele törichte und schädliche Lüste, welche die Menschen in Verderben und Untergang stürzen.
10Denn die Geldgier ist eine Wurzel aller Übel; etliche, die sich ihr hingaben, sind vom Glauben abgeirrt und haben sich selbst viel Schmerzen verursacht.
11Du aber, Gottesmensch, fliehe solches, jage aber nach Gerechtigkeit, Gottseligkeit, Glauben, Liebe, Geduld, Sanftmut!
12Kämpfe den guten Kampf des Glaubens, ergreife das ewige Leben, zu welchem du berufen bist und worüber du das gute Bekenntnis vor vielen Zeugen abgelegt hast.
13Ich gebiete dir vor Gott, der alles lebendig macht, und vor Christus Jesus, der vor Pontius Pilatus das gute Bekenntnis bezeugt hat,
14daß du das Gebot unbefleckt und untadelig bewahrest bis zur Erscheinung unsres Herrn Jesus Christus,
15welche zu seiner Zeit zeigen wird der selige und allein Gewaltige, der König der Könige und der Herr der Herrschenden,
16der allein Unsterblichkeit hat, der in einem unzugänglichen Lichte wohnt, welchen kein Mensch gesehen hat noch sehen kann; Ihm sei Ehre und ewige Macht! Amen.
17Den Reichen im jetzigen Zeitalter gebiete, daß sie nicht stolz seien, auch nicht ihre Hoffnung auf die Unbeständigkeit des Reichtums setzen, sondern auf den lebendigen Gott, der uns alles reichlich zum Genuß darreicht,
18daß sie Gutes tun, reich werden an guten Werken, freigebig seien, mitteilsam,
19und so für sich selbst ein schönes Kapital für die Zukunft sammeln, damit sie das wahre Leben erlangen.
20O Timotheus, bewahre das anvertraute Gut, meide das unheilige Geschwätz und die Einwürfe der fälschlich sogenannten «Erkenntnis»,
21zu welcher sich etliche bekannten und darüber das Glaubensziel aus den Augen verloren. Die Gnade sei mit dir!

1TODOS los que están debajo del yugo de servidumbre, tengan á sus señores por dignos de toda honra, porque no sea blasfemado el nombre del Señor y la doctrina.
2Y los que tienen amos fieles, no los tengan en menos, por ser hermanos; antes sírvanles mejor, por cuanto son fieles y amados, y partícipes del beneficio. Esto enseña y exhorta.
3Si alguno enseña otra cosa, y no asiente á sanas palabras de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y á la doctrina que es conforme á la piedad;
4Es hinchado, nada sabe, y enloquece acerca de cuestiones y contiendas de palabras, de las cuales nacen envidias, pleitos, maledicencias, malas sospechas,
5Porfías de hombres corruptos de entendimiento y privados de la verdad, que tienen la piedad por granjería: apártate de los tales.
6Empero grande granjería es la piedad con contentamiento.
7Porque nada hemos traído á este mundo, y sin duda nada podremos sacar.
8Así que, teniendo sustento y con qué cubrirnos, seamos contentos con esto.
9Porque los que quieren enriquecerse, caen en tentación y lazo, y en muchas codicias locas y dañosas, que hunden á los hombres en perdición y muerte.
10Porque el amor del dinero es la raíz de todos los males: el cual codiciando algunos, se descaminaron de la fe, y fueron traspasados de muchos dolores.
11Mas tú, oh hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas, y sigue la justicia, la piedad, la fe, la caridad, la paciencia, la mansedumbre.
12Pelea la buena batalla de la fe, echa mano de la vida eterna, á la cual asimismo eres llamado, habiendo hecho buena profesión delante de muchos testigos.
13Te mando delante de Dios, que da vida á todas las cosas, y de Jesucristo, que testificó la buena profesión delante de Poncio Pilato,
14Que guardes el mandamiento sin mácula ni reprensión, hasta la aparición de nuestro Señor Jesucristo:
15La cual á su tiempo mostrará el Bienaventurado y solo Poderoso, Rey de reyes, y Señor de señores;
16Quien sólo tiene inmortalidad, que habita en luz inaccesible; á quien ninguno de los hombres ha visto ni puede ver: al cual sea la honra y el imperio sempiterno. Amén.
17A los ricos de este siglo manda que no sean altivos, ni pongan la esperanza en la incertidumbre de las riquezas, sino en el Dios vivo, que nos da todas las cosas en abundancia de que gocemos:
18Que hagan bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, dadivosos, que con facilidad comuniquen;
19Atesorando para sí buen fundamento para lo por venir, que echen mano á la vida eterna.
20Oh Timoteo, guarda lo que se te ha encomendado, evitando las profanas pláticas de vanas cosas, y los argumentos de la falsamente llamada ciencia:
21La cual profesando algunos, fueron descaminados acerca de la fe. La gracia sea contigo. Amén. La primera epístola á Timoteo fué escrita de Laodicea, que es metrópoli de la Frigia Pacatiana.

1Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
2And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, where unto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
17Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
20O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

2Those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brothers, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
3If anyone teaches a different doctrine and doesn’t consent to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,
4he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, insulting, evil suspicions,
5constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. Withdraw yourself from such.
6But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out.
8But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.
9But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.
10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.
12Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.
13I command you before God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who before Pontius Pilate testified the good confession,
14that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15which at the right time he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
16He alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.
17Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;
18that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share;
19laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.
20Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of what is falsely called knowledge,
21which some profess, and thus have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
