1Os escravos que abraçaram a fé devem trabalhar arduamente para os seus senhores e respeitá-los; que nunca se diga que os seguidores de Cristo são maus trabalhadores, para que ninguém fale mal do nome de Deus e dos seus ensinamentos.
2Se os senhores deles forem crentes, isso não é desculpa para perderem o respeito; pelo contrário, devem trabalhar ainda mais ardorosamente porque um irmão na fé está sendo ajudado pelos esforços deles. Ensine estas verdades e incentive todos a obedecê-las.
3Se alguém ensina uma doutrina falsa e não concorda com os ensinos sadios e proveitosos do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, e com o ensino de uma vida piedosa,
4é orgulhoso e nada entende. Esta pessoa tem um interesse doentio, provocando discussões acerca de palavras, que acabam em inveja e cólera, e que só conduzem à difamação, a acusações e suspeitas malignas.
5Estes que vivem discutindo, cujas mentes estão pervertidas pelo pecado, não sabem dizer a verdade. Para eles o evangelho é simplesmente um meio de ganhar dinheiro. Afaste-se deles.
6Você será verdadeiramente próspero se exercer a piedade com contentamento.
7Afinal de contas, não trouxemos nenhum dinheiro conosco quando viemos ao mundo, e nada podemos levar quando morrermos.
8Portanto, devemos sentir-nos bem satisfeitos se tivermos alimento e roupa suficiente.
9Mas as pessoas que querem se tornar ricas caem em tentações e ciladas e em muitos desejos tolos e nocivos, que lhes causam dano e ruína, e finalmente levam à destruição.
10Pois o amor ao dinheiro é a raiz de todos os tipos de males. Algumas pessoas até voltaram as costas a Deus por causa do amor ao dinheiro e, como resultado, afligiram a si mesmas com muitos sofrimentos.
11Você, porém, é um homem de Deus. Fuja de todas essas coisas nocivas e busque a justiça, a piedade, a fé, o amor, a perseverança e a mansidão.
12Lute o bom combate da fé. Agarre-se com firmeza à vida eterna que Deus lhe concedeu e que você reconheceu numa confissão tão notável diante de tantas testemunhas.
13Recomendo-lhe diante de Deus, que a tudo dá vida, e diante de Cristo Jesus, que deu um testemunho perante Pôncio Pilatos,
14que você cumpra tudo quanto ele lhe mandou fazer, a fim de que ninguém ache falta alguma em você, desde agora até a volta do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
15Porque no devido tempo Cristo será revelado. Ele é o bendito e único Deus Todo-poderoso, o Rei dos reis e Senhor dos senhores,
16o único imortal, e que mora em luz tão estupenda que nenhum ser humano pode aproximar-se dele. Nenhum homem jamais o viu, nem nunca o verá. A ele seja honra e poder e domínio para todo o sempre. Amém.
17Diga àqueles que são ricos no presente mundo que não se orgulhem disso nem confiem no dinheiro, que logo acabará; mas que seu orgulho e sua confiança devem estar no Deus vivente, que sempre nos dá abundantemente tudo quanto necessitamos, para nossa satisfação.
18Ordene a eles que pratiquem o bem. Eles devem ser ricos em boas obras e devem dar com alegria aos que estão em necessidade, e estar sempre prontos a repartir com os outros aquilo que Deus lhes deu.
19Fazendo isso, eles estarão acumulando um tesouro real para si mesmos no céu — este é o único investimento seguro para a eternidade — e estarão levando uma vida frutífera.
20Timóteo, não deixe de fazer essas coisas que Deus confiou a você. Evite as discussões inúteis e profanas com aqueles que se gabam de seu conhecimento e assim provam a própria falta dele.
21Algumas destas pessoas acabaram perdendo a coisa mais importante da vida, se desviando do caminho da fé. Que a graça divina esteja com vocês.

1TODOS los que están debajo del yugo de servidumbre, tengan á sus señores por dignos de toda honra, porque no sea blasfemado el nombre del Señor y la doctrina.
2Y los que tienen amos fieles, no los tengan en menos, por ser hermanos; antes sírvanles mejor, por cuanto son fieles y amados, y partícipes del beneficio. Esto enseña y exhorta.
3Si alguno enseña otra cosa, y no asiente á sanas palabras de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y á la doctrina que es conforme á la piedad;
4Es hinchado, nada sabe, y enloquece acerca de cuestiones y contiendas de palabras, de las cuales nacen envidias, pleitos, maledicencias, malas sospechas,
5Porfías de hombres corruptos de entendimiento y privados de la verdad, que tienen la piedad por granjería: apártate de los tales.
6Empero grande granjería es la piedad con contentamiento.
7Porque nada hemos traído á este mundo, y sin duda nada podremos sacar.
8Así que, teniendo sustento y con qué cubrirnos, seamos contentos con esto.
9Porque los que quieren enriquecerse, caen en tentación y lazo, y en muchas codicias locas y dañosas, que hunden á los hombres en perdición y muerte.
10Porque el amor del dinero es la raíz de todos los males: el cual codiciando algunos, se descaminaron de la fe, y fueron traspasados de muchos dolores.
11Mas tú, oh hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas, y sigue la justicia, la piedad, la fe, la caridad, la paciencia, la mansedumbre.
12Pelea la buena batalla de la fe, echa mano de la vida eterna, á la cual asimismo eres llamado, habiendo hecho buena profesión delante de muchos testigos.
13Te mando delante de Dios, que da vida á todas las cosas, y de Jesucristo, que testificó la buena profesión delante de Poncio Pilato,
14Que guardes el mandamiento sin mácula ni reprensión, hasta la aparición de nuestro Señor Jesucristo:
15La cual á su tiempo mostrará el Bienaventurado y solo Poderoso, Rey de reyes, y Señor de señores;
16Quien sólo tiene inmortalidad, que habita en luz inaccesible; á quien ninguno de los hombres ha visto ni puede ver: al cual sea la honra y el imperio sempiterno. Amén.
17A los ricos de este siglo manda que no sean altivos, ni pongan la esperanza en la incertidumbre de las riquezas, sino en el Dios vivo, que nos da todas las cosas en abundancia de que gocemos:
18Que hagan bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, dadivosos, que con facilidad comuniquen;
19Atesorando para sí buen fundamento para lo por venir, que echen mano á la vida eterna.
20Oh Timoteo, guarda lo que se te ha encomendado, evitando las profanas pláticas de vanas cosas, y los argumentos de la falsamente llamada ciencia:
21La cual profesando algunos, fueron descaminados acerca de la fe. La gracia sea contigo. Amén. La primera epístola á Timoteo fué escrita de Laodicea, que es metrópoli de la Frigia Pacatiana.

1Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
2And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, where unto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
17Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

20O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

2Those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brothers, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
3If anyone teaches a different doctrine and doesn’t consent to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,
4he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, insulting, evil suspicions,
5constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. Withdraw yourself from such.
6But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out.
8But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.
9But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.
10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.

15which at the right time he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
16He alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.
17Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;
18that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share;
19laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.
20Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of what is falsely called knowledge,
21which some profess, and thus have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
