Ma lo spirito dice apertamente, che negli ultimi tempi alcuni apostateranno dalla fede, dando retta agli spiriti ingannatori, e alle dottrine dei demoni.

EMPERO el Espíritu dice manifiestamente, que en los venideros tiempos algunos apostatarán de la fe, escuchando á espíritus de error y á doctrinas de demonios;

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Per ipocrisia dicendo la falsità, avendo la coscienza coperta di turpi marche,

Que con hipocresía hablarán mentira, teniendo cauterizada la conciencia.

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

through the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron,

Ordinando di non contrar matrimonio, di astenersi dai cibi creati da Dio, perché ne usassero con rendimento di grazie i fedeli, e quelli, che hanno conosciuta la verità.

Que prohibirán casarse, y mandarán abstenerse de las viandas que Dios crió para que con hacimiento de gracias participasen de ellas los fieles, y los que han conocido la verdad.

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Dappoiché tutto quello, che Dio ha creato, è buono, e nulla è da rigettarsi, ove con rendimento di grazie si prenda:

If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

Ma le profane favole da vecchiarelle rigettale, ed esercitati nella pietà.

Parola fedele, e sommamente accettevole.

Imperocché per questo ci affatichiamo, e siamo maledetti, perché abbiamo speranza in Dio vivo, il quale è salvatore di tutti gli uomini, massimamente de' fedeli.

Fino a tanto che io venga attendi alla lettura, all'esortare, ed all'insegnare.

Non trascurare la grazia, che è in te, la quale ti è stata, data per rivelazione, con l'imposizione delle mani del presbiterio.

Insegna, in qual maniera egli debba governare i seniori, le vecchie, e le giovinette, e le vedove di fresca età: delle condizioni, che si ricercano nell'elezione della vedova: i preti, che adempiono esattamente il lor ministero, siano doppiamente onorati; non ammetta leggermente l'accusa contro del prete: i peccatori gli riprenda pubblicamente: raccomanda l'osservanza de’ suoi insegnamenti, e che a nissuno imponga troppo presto le mani: faccia uso di un poco di vino: dei varj peccati degli uomini.

Ten cuidado de ti mismo y de la doctrina; persiste en ello; pues haciendo esto, á ti mismo salvarás y á los que te oyeren.

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Pay attention to yourself and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
