1Desselbigengleichen die Weiber, daß sie in zierlichem Kleide mit Scham und Zucht sich schmücken, nicht mit Zöpfen oder Gold oder Perlen oder köstlichem Gewand,
2sondern wie sich's ziemet den Weibern, die da Gottseligkeit beweisen durch gute Werke.
3Ein Weib lerne in der Stille mit aller Untertänigkeit.
4Einem Weibe aber gestatte ich nicht, daß sie lehre, auch nicht, daß sie des Mannes HERR sei, sondern stille sei.
5Denn Adam ist am ersten gemacht, danach Eva.
6Und Adam ward nicht verführet; das Weib aber ward verführet und hat die Übertretung eingeführet.
7Sie wird aber selig werden durch Kinderzeugen, so sie bleiben im Glauben und in der Liebe und in der Heiligung samt der Zucht.
8Das ist je gewißlich wahr, so jemand ein Bischofsamt begehret, der begehret ein köstlich Werk.
9Es soll aber ein Bischof unsträflich sein, eines Weibes Mann, nüchtern, mäßig, sittig, gastfrei, lehrhaftig,
10nicht ein Weinsäufer, nicht pochen, nicht unehrliche Hantierung treiben, sondern gelinde, nicht haderhaftig, nicht geizig,
11der seinem eigenen Hause wohl vorstehe, der gehorsame Kinder habe mit aller Ehrbarkeit
12(so aber jemand seinem eigenen Hause nicht weiß vorzustehen, wie wird er die Gemeinde Gottes versorgen?),
13nicht ein Neuling, auf daß er sich nicht aufblase und dem Lästerer ins Urteil falle.
14Er muß aber auch ein gut Zeugnis haben von denen, die draußen sind, auf daß er nicht falle dem Lästerer in die Schmach und Strick.
15Desselbigengleichen die Diener sollen ehrbar sein, nicht zweizüngig, nicht Weinsäufer, nicht unehrliche Hantierung treiben

1AMONESTO pues, ante todas cosas, que se hagan rogativas, oraciones, peticiones, hacimientos de gracias, por todos los hombres;
2Por los reyes y por todos los que están en eminencia, para que vivamos quieta y reposadamente en toda piedad y honestidad.
3Porque esto es bueno y agradable delante de Dios nuestro Salvador;
4El cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos, y que vengan al conocimiento de la verdad.
5Porque hay un Dios, asimismo un mediador entre Dios y los hombres, Jesucristo hombre;
6El cual se dió á sí mismo en precio del rescate por todos, para testimonio en sus tiempos:
7De lo que yo soy puesto por predicador y apóstol, (digo verdad en Cristo, no miento) doctor de los Gentiles en fidelidad y verdad.
8Quiero, pues, que los hombres oren en todo lugar, levantando manos limpias, sin ira ni contienda.
9Asimismo también las mujeres, ataviándose en hábito honesto, con vergüenza y modestia; no con cabellos encrespados, ú oro, ó perlas, ó vestidos costosos,
10Sino de buenas obras, como conviene á mujeres que profesan piedad.
11La mujer aprenda en silencio, con toda sujeción.
12Porque no permito á la mujer enseñar, ni tomar autoridad sobre el hombre, sino estar en silencio.
13Porque Adam fué formado el primero, después Eva;
14Y Adam no fué engañado, sino la mujer, siendo seducida, vino á ser envuelta en transgresión:
15Empero se salvará engendrando hijos, si permaneciere en la fe y caridad y santidad, con modestia.

1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
7Where unto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
8I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

1I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men,
2for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence.
3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth.
5For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
6who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony at the proper time,
7to which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am telling the truth in Christ, not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8I desire therefore that the men in every place pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and doubting.
9In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety, not with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing,
10but with good works, which is appropriate for women professing godliness.
11Let a woman learn in quietness with full submission.
12But I don’t permit a woman to teach, nor to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness.
13For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
14Adam wasn’t deceived, but the woman, being deceived, has fallen into disobedience;
15but she will be saved through her childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness with sobriety.
