1porque vosotros sabéis muy bien que como el ladrón de noche, así vendrá el día del Señor.
2Pues cuando los impíos estarán diciendo que hay paz y seguridad, entonces los sobrecogerá de repente la ruina, como el dolor de parto a la que está encinta, sin que puedan evitarla.
3Mas vosotros, hermanos, no vivís en las tinieblas del pecado, para que os sorprenda como ladrón aquel día;
4puesto que todos vosotros sois hijos de la luz e hijos del día; no lo somos de la noche ni de las tinieblas.
5No durmamos, pues, como los demás, antes bien estemos en vela, y vivamos con templanza.
6Pues los que duermen, duermen de noche, y los que se embriagan, de noche se embriagan.
7Nosotros que somos hijos del día, o de la luz de la fe, vivamos en sobriedad, vestidos de cota de fe y de caridad, y teniendo por casco la esperanza de la salud eterna;
8porque no nos ha puesto Dios para blanco de venganza, sino para hacernos adquirir la salud por nuestro Señor Jesucristo,
9el cual murió por nosotros, a fin de que ora velando, ora durmiendo, vivamos con él.
10Por lo cual consolaos mutuamente, y edificaos los unos a los otros, como ya lo hacéis.
11Asimismo, hermanos, os rogamos que tengáis especial consideración a los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os gobiernan en el Señor, y os instruyen,
12dándoles las mayores muestras de caridad por sus desvelos; conservad la paz con ellos.
13Os rogamos también, hermanos, que corrijáis a los inquietos, que consoléis a los pusilánimes, que soportéis a los flacos, que seáis pacientes con todos.
14Procurad que ninguno vuelva a otro mal por mal; sino tratad de hacer siempre bien unos a otros, y a todo el mundo.
15Vivid siempre alegres.
16Orad sin intermisión.
17Dad gracias por todo al Señor; porque esto es lo que quiere Dios que hagáis todos en nombre de Jesucristo.
18No apaguéis el Espíritu de Dios.
19No despreciéis las profecías, apreciadlas.
20Examinad, sí, todas las cosas, y ateneos a lo bueno y conforme a la buena nueva.
21Apartaos aun de toda apariencia de mal.
22Y el Dios de la paz os haga santos en todo, a fin de que vuestro espíritu entero, con alma y cuerpo se conserven sin culpa para cuando venga nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
23Fiel es el que os llamó, y así lo hará como lo ha ofrecido.
24Hermanos míos, orad por nosotros.
25Saludad a todos los hermanos con el ósculo santo.
26Os conjuro por el Señor, que se lea esta carta a todos los santos hermanos.
27La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con vosotros. Amén.

1EMPERO acerca de los tiempos y de los momentos, no tenéis, hermanos, necesidad de que yo os escriba:
2Porque vosotros sabéis bien, que el día del Señor vendrá así como ladrón de noche,
3Que cuando dirán, Paz y seguridad, entonces vendrá sobre ellos destrucción de repente, como los dolores á la mujer preñada; y no escaparán.
4Mas vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que aquel día os sobrecoja como ladrón;
5Porque todos vosotros sois hijos de luz, é hijos del día; no somos de la noche, ni de las tinieblas.
6Por tanto, no durmamos como los demás; antes velemos y seamos sobrios.
7Porque los que duermen, de noche duermen; y los que están borrachos, de noche están borrachos.
8Mas nosotros, que somos del día, estemos sobrios, vestidos de cota de fe y de caridad, y la esperanza de salud por yelmo.
9Porque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para alcanzar salud por nuestro Señor Jesucristo;
10El cual murió por nosotros, para que ó que velemos, ó que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.
11Por lo cual, consolaos los unos á los otros, y edificaos los unos á los otros, así como lo hacéis.
12Y os rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcáis á los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan:
13Y que los tengáis en mucha estima por amor de su obra. Tened paz los unos con los otros.
14También os rogamos, hermanos, que amonestéis á los que andan desordenadamente, que consoléis á los de poco ánimo, que soportéis á los flacos, que seáis sufridos para con todos.
15Mirad que ninguno dé á otro mal por mal; antes seguid lo bueno siempre los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.
16Estad siempre gozosos.
17Orad sin cesar.
18Dad gracias en todo; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para con vosotros en Cristo Jesús.
19No apaguéis el Espíritu.
20No menospreciéis las profecías.
21Examinadlo todo; retened lo bueno.
22Apartaos de toda especie de mal.
23Y el Dios de paz os santifique en todo; para que vuestro espíritu y alma y cuerpo sea guardado entero sin reprensión para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
24Fiel es el que os ha llamado; el cual también lo hará.
25Hermanos, orad por nosotros.
26Saludad á todos los hermanos en ósculo santo.
27Conjúroos por el Señor, que esta carta sea leída á todos los santos hermanos.
28La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con vosotros. Amén. La primera epístola á los Tesalonicenses fué escrita de Atenas.

1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16Rejoice evermore.
17Pray without ceasing.
18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19Quench not the Spirit.
20Despise not prophesyings.
21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25Brethren, pray for us.
26Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

1But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.
2For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
3For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.
4But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.
5You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,
6so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.
7For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.

19Don’t quench the Spirit.
20Don’t despise prophecies.
21Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good.

24He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.
