1E ainda quero acrescentar isto, irmãos: Vocês já sabem como agradar a Deus em sua vida diária, pois conhecem as determinações que lhes demos da parte do próprio Senhor Jesus. Agora nós lhes suplicamos — sim, exortamos a vocês em nome do Senhor Jesus — que vivam cada vez mais próximos daquele ideal.
2Porque vocês conhecem os mandamentos que lhes demos pela autoridade do Senhor Jesus.
3Deus deseja que vocês sejam santos e puros, e se conservem afastados de todo pecado sexual,
4a fim de que cada um de vocês saiba controlar o seu próprio corpo em santificação e honra,
5não dominado pela paixão carnal e por desejos desenfreados, como fazem os pagãos, na sua ignorância de Deus e de seus caminhos.
6E esta é também a vontade de Deus: Que neste assunto nenhum de vocês se aproveite de seu irmão, porque o Senhor os castigará por estas práticas, como nós antes já os advertimos severamente.
7Porque Deus não nos chamou para vivermos na impureza nem cheios de imoralidade, mas para sermos santos e puros.
8Se alguém se recusar a viver de acordo com estes mandamentos, não estará desobedecendo às leis dos homens, mas de Deus, que dá o seu Santo Espírito a vocês.
9Mas, quanto ao amor fraternal puro que deve existir entre o povo de Deus, eu não preciso falar muito, porque o próprio Deus está ensinando vocês a se amarem uns aos outros.
10Na verdade, já é forte o amor que vocês têm por todos os irmãos em Cristo em toda a Macedônia. Mesmo assim, amigos, nós lhes rogamos que amem cada vez mais.
11Esta deve ser a ambição de vocês — esforçar-se para levar uma vida tranquila, se importando com seus próprios negócios e fazendo seu próprio trabalho, tal como já lhes instruímos anteriormente.
12Como resultado, as pessoas de fora da igreja vão confiar em vocês e respeitá-los, e vocês não precisarão viver à custa dos outros.
13E agora, irmãos, quero que vocês saibam o que sucede a um fiel quando ele morre, para que não fiquem cheios de tristeza como aqueles que não têm esperança.
14Visto que nós cremos que Jesus morreu e depois voltou à vida, podemos também crer que, quando Jesus voltar, Deus trará de volta com ele todos os irmãos que já morreram.
15Posso dizer-lhes, diretamente do Senhor, que nós, os que ainda estivermos vivos quando o Senhor voltar, não subiremos para encontrá-lo antes daqueles que já morreram.
16Pois o próprio Senhor descerá do céu com um potente clamor, com o brado do arcanjo e com o toque da trombeta de Deus, e o Senhor descerá dos céus, e os mortos em Cristo ressuscitarão primeiro.
17Então nós, os que ainda estivermos vivos, seremos arrebatados até eles nas nuvens, a fim de nos encontrarmos com o Senhor nos ares e ficarmos com ele para sempre.
18Portanto, confortem-se e encorajem-se mutuamente com essas palavras.

1RESTA pues, hermanos, que os roguemos y exhortemos en el Señor Jesús, que de la manera que fuisteis enseñados de nosotros de cómo os conviene andar, y agradar á Dios, así vayáis creciendo.
2Porque ya sabéis qué mandamientos os dimos por el Señor Jesús.
3Porque la voluntad de Dios es vuestra santificación: que os apartéis de fornicación;
4Que cada uno de vosotros sepa tener su vaso en santificación y honor;
5No con afecto de concupiscencia, como los Gentiles que no conocen á Dios:
6Que ninguno oprima, ni engañe en nada á su hermano: porque el Señor es vengador de todo esto, como ya os hemos dicho y protestado.
7Porque no nos ha llamado Dios á inmundicia, sino á santificación.
8Así que, el que menosprecia, no menosprecia á hombre, sino á Dios, el cual también nos dió su Espíritu Santo.
9Mas acerca de la caridad fraterna no habéis menester que os escriba: porque vosotros mismos habéis aprendido de Dios que os améis los unos á los otros;
10Y también lo hacéis así con todos los hermanos que están por toda Macedonia. Empero os rogamos, hermanos, que abundéis más;
11Y que procuréis tener quietud, y hacer vuestros negocios, y obréis de vuestras manos de la manera que os hemos mandado;
12A fin de que andéis honestamente para con los extraños, y no necesitéis de nada.
13Tampoco, hermanos, queremos que ignoréis acerca de los que duermen, que no os entristezcáis como los otros que no tienen esperanza.
14Porque si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también traerá Dios con él á los que durmieron en Jesús.
15Por lo cual, os decimos esto en palabra del Señor: que nosotros que vivimos, que habremos quedado hasta la venida del Señor, no seremos delanteros á los que durmieron.
16Porque el mismo Señor con aclamación, con voz de arcángel, y con trompeta de Dios, descenderá del cielo; y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero:
17Luego nosotros, los que vivimos, los que quedamos, juntamente con ellos seremos arrebatados en las nubes á recibir al Señor en el aire, y así estaremos siempre con el Señor.
18Por tanto, consolaos los unos á los otros en estas palabras.

1Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
8He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
9But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
10And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
11And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1Finally then, brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you abound more and more.
2For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
3For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,
4that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor,
5not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God,
6that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.
7For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.
8Therefore he who rejects this doesn’t reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.
9But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,
10for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;
11and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you,
12that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.
13But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.
16For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,
17then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.
18Therefore comfort one another with these words.
